Turns out I know someone who works with the guy who won the Hurricanes Harley. Problem is, he can't really afford to pay the taxes on the bike so he says he's gonna put it on e-bay. I searched and could not find it yet but if you are interested keep an eye out. Or, if you are interested you can PM me and I may be able to put you in touch with the guy.

Does he know the actual tax reall ynot a whole lot of money? Tax on a $30,000 vehicle is only $270.00 initally and then goes down every year. I think he just wants an extra $30,000 in the bank. :D

well, they tax prizes as if it were free income. When I won an all expense 4 -star 7 day cruise, it did me in on taxes because even though I didn't get any cash out of it, they added it as $5,000 of 'free' money I received which raised my tax bracket

I had no clue how that prize thing works, but according to my friend the winner thought the taxes would be several thousand dollars.

Yes, the taxes would be like a 1099 form for the value of the prize as income. MG, I think you are thinking of the Road Use (or whatever it's called) tax we pay each year on our vehicles.

Yeah, the cycle will be taxed in his tax bracket, so 30-40% of the estimated value of the prize. 30000x40% is 12000 bucks at the most. More than 7000 at the least. That sux.
