I think we did pretty well, for a team in last place. A 1.01% increase over the previous year is very small, but hopefully, the fan base will continue to grow.

Nice to hear that from Pang today too. Do you really think another team would set an attendance record (we did, right?) in a year where they were dead last?
We've got some great fans here...

The Canes set an attendance record despite finishing in dead last, yet some media types still say interest has dropped off this season? I don't get it...

You and me Mo. I was a bit puzzled by a DeCock comment in today's N&O article...it said something about the Canes' popularity dropping from being at an all time high last season to where it was when the team moved from Hartford to here. When I read that, I was thinking...
"Uh, no. Last I checked, the Canes' popularity was just as good as, if not better than last season's. Not to mention how attendance is actually up this season compared to last."
The media and my dad have one thing in common, they always love to have it in for the Canes...be it during good times like the playoffs or sour times like right now. I'll never forget how Brindy had to correct Drew Smith on WTVD 11 about the Canes' attendance and crowd being "bad"...you go dude! Speaking of Brindy, I was him to my dad's Drew Smith when my dad was making cracks about the Canes "still lucky to have fans" or something like that a week or so ago. I told my dad that attendance was actually better than last season, and he shut up. :smoke: :D

I don't get the press comments either...out of the entire season...I missed one game and I can tell you that there was always a decent crowd....and at times we had that place rocking!! :spin: I can't think of many teams that would have received the reception they got today (in last place) ..inside and out..us Caniacs are pretty good fans!! :spin: ;) ..I love the team too!

Well, if they have another season like this one next year, attendance will drop. But, I also believe that this year was the abberation and we a re good two or maybe three round playoff team next year. The Baby Canes got to taste some meat this spring, next year they are going to want to help make the kills themselves. :)
