any chance we can get sigs back? I like them :spin:
I remember there was a problem with people using pics for sigs, maybe we could give it another go?

No, I really don't like the idea of signatures. One, I can't stop people from embedding pics in them without turning off pictures alltogether.
And two, on other boards, people add their signature every single time they post and that gets annoying real quick. There's nothing I hate more on a messageboard than to see the same people post multiple times in a thread and have their signatures at the end of every post.
So those are my main reasons for not allowing signatures.

I realize the chance of getting sigs back is more than likely naught at this point. But, I got an idea from a collectible board I frequent called Sports Card Sheriff ( http://www.sportscardsheriff.com/ )...
Over there, they have it set so that when you post multiple times in a thread, your signature only shows up in your first post on each page.
Considering Caniac's complaint about multiple signatures, I think the above is a brilliant idea. Can it be implemented here, or not?

Without a bunch of changes to the board code that I don't really have time to do, it's impossible...

I started a thread Here (http://www.letsgocanes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=112169) for sigs if interested.

To each their own, personally I am glad it is too much work. I had wading through sigs on boards, they really serve no purpose for the space they eat up. :)

kinda depends. one of the boards I frequent we have a guy who has 3 pictures, and about 14 lines of text. on a 19" monitor, one of his posts take up a whole damn screen.
I'd boot him but he's been an 'officer' for 3 years. still a jackass thing to do though.
on the other hand, a 150h pixel image isn't too bad. but yeah, if two people are having a conversation, and every single post has even a small sig.... it does use up a lot of space.
I've seen no php hacks that would show the sig of a poster the first time, but not subsequent times. can't say I've busted my ass looking... but, at the main hack site, it's not there.
other interesting options though.. where each user could disable viewing other's sigs. neat option. might look into doing that on the board with the full-page sig guy. lol

An example thread to show what I mentioned...IIRC, either SCS or Sports Card Forum, has it where you have the option of turning off signatures in your Control Area/Profile. Not a bad idea either.

Sigs seem kinda silly IMO.
I have a request though..... if sigs do become allowable, again, could they please be static images? Animation can be so nauseating......

I don't like sigs much, either, and I especially don't like animations...

Dan Cloutier???
And about signatures, and especially pictures in signatures...We already have 2 ways to identify and express oneself outside of the username: The location, and the avatar. I think that's enough.
