View Full Version : Game Thread...Canes @ Florida 3/29/04

Will this be the game? The game that finally yields the Canes a 3 game winning streak? Wouldn't that be nice!

Here is the pre-game skate:
http://www.carolinahurricanes.com/news/news.asp?articleid=1220

I presume we will see Luongo - again, Shields was in net on Saturday night in Atlanta.

If the Canes win and Atlanta loses (to Toronto), the Canes leap over Atlanta for 2nd in the SE (10th in the East).

Discuss.

Instead of the third of a three game winning streak which we are deemed not worthy to accomplish, how about the first win of a consective two game winning streak. That might sneak it by the hockey gods....

I was driving in to work this morning and saw a car flying a Canes flag! :D It brought a huge smile to my face. It made me realize how much I've enjoyed the last two weeks of the hockey season---I don't want it to end. I hope the guys have the same good feelings and keep them through the summer.

Vandy, I saw one too! It had two flags on it (it was going down Creedmoor Road). Made me smile two (after the double take). Maybe I'll fly mine this week, just for fun! :D

This is the point in the season where this fanbase amazes me. We stink, we're missing the playoffs again, we're lucky we didn't dig our hole so deeply into the cellar that we're finishing 30th again, but the hardcore fans are still behind them. It's all over so what do the fans do? They bring out their flags and their jersies and they prove that they still love this team even when they suck and that they'll be here next year hoping for better. I hope the Canes realize what they have here, even if there aren't that many of us. There is something special between this team and this little group of hardcores. I hope it gets a chance to continue to grow. :spin:

There, now you have your cheese quota for the day. :p

Correction, we stunk mid-season. There's no way you can say the teams stinks right now. Sure we're not facing every team's big guns but we're winning and doing it pretty soundly.

We're still missing the playoffs, whether we stink now or not. And I agree, we don't stink now....it just doesn't matter anymore. :)

Hopefully after the last game with Florida, they will remember what it takes to crack Luongo....just keep pecking at those rebounds at the front of the net and eventually it will go in.

Dont forget Atlanta having to play Toronto, would be nice if we could leapfrog over them and take their spot away. Ilya better bring out some more illegal sticks, maybe that will help him score.

I wore my jersey to my work to stop in and grab something to go, and I got ragged on by ohhh....let's see..just about everyone in the store. I felt nothing but pride and HAD to grin. No jacket either! Just full on Canes jersey goodness! MAN, am I a rebel  :D

I have a god feeling about this game. This is gonna break the three game streak jinx. I swear it. I will say 3-1 win by the Canes...but if it's Roberto frickin' Luongo, we might have ourselves a little problem. I might have to shout things through my TV and let them telepathically get the message to get their butts in gear and score the Panthers out of the friggin place!! YEA!!! I'm pumped can you tell? hehe..

Well I think it will be a fun game nevertheless...I will be even happier if Irbie's in goal. Man I dont want this season to end. Go CANES! :spin:

I've had a bad feeling about this game all day. Hope I'm wrong. I guess it's the factor that the come from behind win vs Fla is probably fresh in their players' minds. I just hope the Canes come out hustling and hitting from the opening bell and don't have to play catchup again. That 2-0 lead vs the Isles was nice for a change and felt kind of strange.

I'll be peeking in on the Atlanta-Leafs game from time to time. Here's to gaining 2nd place in the Southeast.

GO CANES!!

I didn't think McCarthy was "running" the PP any longer. I thought PL's comments were that he would basically run the show in order to get the players accustomed to his system.

I pretty much look at JD and KM as people that help Laviolette run practices. /shrug

So, did everyone hear Weekes' take on the Irbe exhile? Most interesting. My attention was divided through part of that interview but it sounded like he didn't use those tired old cliches and circular expressions I'm so fond of criticizing tonight. Thanks Kevin! Good job! :spin:

raleighcanesfan

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but it hasn't made any progress. PL has coem out so much and said Park in front of the net, but they're still not doing that consistently. All they have is their kick out to Hill for a shot, now teams even look for that. Grrrrr...

I think Kevin M. stayed because they wanted some continuity with the assistants. I think PL will bring in his own staff for next season unless he thinks Kevin and Jeff are the assistants he wants. In his defense though, I think PL has a big hand in the PP and it was just in such a mess when he got here that he just hasn't been able to work out that piece of the puzzle yet.

Maybe Wesley had Joe on his fantasy team, put him on IR based on reports and decided to take matters into his own hands when it turned out not to be true  ;)

I hate and admire Loungo for his skill... Loungo+the leagues best defense+the leagues best offense= a invincible hockey team

Yeah, I think they decided to save all their on-target shots for me when I go to the game tomorrow... so it's gonna be a blowout tomorrow.

You're going to tomorrow night's game? Where are you going to be? Since tomorrow may be the last game of the season I'll get to attend, I want to meet anyone from here going to be there that I've yet to meet. :)

I'd so love to see the Canes spank Thornton and the Bruins' a**es...but I'm not holding my breath with your being there Tommy. :p ;)

Section 108, front row (above the Bud Light sign)... I'll hang out right outside of 108 during the intermissions!!!

The Canes will 'rule their asses', as a certain poster might say... lol

LOL Tommy....so they shall, so they shall. The Bruins will have their asses ruled to the point of going back to being mere bear cubs instead of grizzlies. And don't any of ya'll forget I said that.

As for the game against the Panthers. WTF?? I cannot blame Irbe for those goals. It's just another rabid case of the canes bad luck that's been plaguing them these two past seasons. Someone doesn't want us to get a three game win streak. lol. I just was mad at the many opportunities we had on the power play, and then frustrated too at how many penalties WE had. UGH. But. you see, I think maybe the Canes will put their all into the final three games. It was Roberto frickin' Luongo...I can't really yell at them for not being able to solve him, he's pretty stellar most often. OY. Let's just hope the Bruins game isn't a repeat of last night...I'm watching again and don't get to see Friday's game (although I get to see the FINAL game on Sunday, which is good). But I'd like to be able to see the last few games be WINS. Let's hope they are. GO CANES!! :smoke:
