FINALS/CUP picks!

Hey all! I just figgered I'd be starting this thread, because I'm curious as to everyone's picks for the Finals and to win the Cup this year. I'm geeked now, because after watching the Canes game against Boston and hearing Jeff pick the teams I've been betting on since I knew the Canes were out...must be a sign for me! LOL. :p

Out of the East, I'm going with Ottawa. It has been a long time coming for a title for this team. They've played hard season after season, been through adversity and have proven they're one of the best ones in the league. they've had a hard time of the playoffs obviously, but with how great they've been and for so long, you can help but ponder that this HAS to be their year. Especially with their star caliber.

Out of the West, I say San Jose. This team is relatively young, with quite a few newbies or lower-rung forwards that most haven't heard of in the past. But this team is on fire and ruling everyone's asses this season. They're fascinating to watch,I'm marvelling at the offensive power here, and hey, who doesn't love the so-called Cinderella teams, guys? :D :beatup: Thats right, all, these two are my picks to make it!

Now as for the Cup, thats a toughie...but I don't see the Canadian Cup drought ending anytime soon. I think, obviously that the 10 or so year drought for a Canadian team in the Finals will be broken, but it shall be San Jose who gets the spoils in the form of Lord Stanley's Cup, IMO.

Should be a FUN race this year, and I'm pretty geeked to watch some playoff hockey and see how far my vote gets. How bout everyone else? Don't be shy people! :D Its bettin' time! :beatup:

LOL...well for the most part people, it's pretty much there, but yes....if thats how ya'll wanna work this, we can just have this thread loiter until everyone wants more educated bets lol. As I said before, I tend to get a bit excited....I'm just your rabid everyday sports fan but.. :beatup: I can't chill! I'm too GEEKED, lvscolencanes lol. ;) Just kidding...i HAVE to use that word.

Well I picked Boston over St. Louis in like July, so hopefully that might still happen (But I'd rather see the Oilers and Preds make the playoffs than the Blues)

Count me in. I've been trying to figure out how to run a pool locally other than just picking bracket winners. (ie. adding points for picking how many games a series goes, etc.) If anyone has ideas, let me know.

And for those of you who don't know, you make picks round by round (one round at a time), so once the second round comes, you start over, and you get to make your picks from the remaining teams. (Did I explain that right, Shell?) I'm sure Shell will explain the points system once we get this started up when the playoffs start!

yep, that's how we did it last year.. I was just making it up as we went along though LOL. If everyone likes the way it worked, we can do it the same way this year. I'm always open to suggestions though :)
