There is some discussion (mostly on ch.com) that JRs announcement of Maurice staying on as Coach will cause ticket plan holders to choose NOT to renew. So here we go....

Help guyute! I swear there was a poll attached to this? Basically asking the question with yes/no/maybe as the choices. When I edited it to fix a typo, did I delete it somehow?
Edited to add: Crap! Now there are 2 of all the answers!!

no coach is going to keep me from my team. who do i root for? who do i hold signs up for? who do i pay money to see? the players, dammit. i hate some of the decisions he makes as much as anyone but anybody that would disown their team because of a coach was never a fan in the first place. i've been over to CH.com -- the bandwagon's getting emptier every day, it appears.

True. But I get tired of the twits...er...posters  at ch.com coming up with new and creative excuses not to renew their season tickets. The rants start in October and usually last till July. Last year it was because ticket prices were raised, this year it's because of the coach, next year it will be because their arses twitch in the seat too much.
Geez...yeah, I need coffee. Bad. :eek2:

I agree completely crazy.
though next year, with us making the playoffs again, it'll be more like "I stood in line for 35 minutes, and couldn't get tickets!!!"
well guess what, ya maroons... "season ticket holder Priority". learn it. if you don't want to be a holder, don't. but don't whine about not getting tickets. no one's fault but your own.

And I resent being called a bandwagoner.
I'm also trying to vote in this poll, put a paypal screen pops up after I click on maybe, and it hasn't registered my vote.
Coach Mo should be gone. I don't know how JR thinks that Mo did a good job this year. He messed up Sami. He messed up the goaltender rotation. He messes with lines. He's already misusing Vrbata.
We all have opinions. I just get frustrated when people line up blindly behind a coach that took a Stanley Cup Finalist to a last place finish with a bullet.

I'm not lining up behind the coach. I want the coach fired. I am, however, lining up behind the team, NHL hockey in Raleigh, and priority for playoff tickets if we get there next season. If some folks don't want to then they shouldn't. But, as Guy said, then they also should not complain if they can't get playoff tix next season.

Welcome to the jungle.
We aren't signaling *you* out as a bandwagon fan in this thread. Just that people who decide to downsize or not renew their tickets solely on the basis of the coach or finishing 30th may be considered as bandwagoners.
Bandwagon (from webster.com): "a popular party, faction, or cause that attracts growing support -- often used in such phrases as climb on the bandwagon." Well, the Canes aren't popular anymore, so proclaiming your diminishing support for them might very well get you called out on it, sorry.
Financial or time issues (unable to make all games) are not part of that discussion.

It was some of the names that we (ch.com) were getting called that ticked me off. Yeah, there are a few over there that don't always make a lot of sense with the posts. This was *my* thread over there that got "moved" here, that's why I got upset.
I went to the last 5 games of the 2000-01 season (save for the final game), all the playoffs that year, then had a 21-game plan last season, and a full season this year. I just can't do a full season in the same seat financially this upcoming season. I'm probably getting a 24-game plan in the same seat range.
I'm the type of fan that Chuck was talking about on the last Aftermath. I'm a Northern transplant that's still loyal to my Rangers, but have become a Canes fan as well. As a Ranger fan, I'm used to changes to try to make things better. Do they always work? No, especially not with that team, but the thing is, it at least looks like something is getting changed for an improvement.
I wouldn't call a fan that may have had tickets for a few years and decided not to get tickets this year based on Mo a bandwagoner. I might call them shortsighted, but I can understand the frustration.

I am that type of fan too, with the Pens instead of the Rangers (so don't tell *me* about bad seasons... my teams finished 29th and 30th). I have not had tickets before this year (went to a few games last year with my fiance and then all the playoff games), and I would be calling myself a bandwagoner if I weren't going to renew this year. I would call any fan that started going last year and jumped off this year a bandwagoner. I would *not* call someone who downgrades from one plan to another for financial reasons a bandwagoner. I *would* tell someone who yells at those of us who are renewing that we are sending the wrong message to management to get lost. Got it?

I don't mean to jump in here, but IMVHO, if you don't retain some kind of ticket priority, in the long run you will only be hurting yourself. If you truly love the sport of hockey, keeping it local should be important to you. Without our support, WE will be the ones left out in the cold; the team as a whole can always go somewhere else, or disintegrate altogether. I for one am not willing to take that chance based solely on who stands behind that bench.

exactly right batesb.
unfortunately I don't have time to weigh in on the meat of this... it's almost 5 and if I don't get through all these posts that I've missed in the last 2hrs, I'll have to find them after my cookie tells me I've already read them. ;)

Hmmmm, "*your* thread". Whatever. It's not like people were snickering behind ch.com's back - I posted that this poll existed.
It was an interesting question, because I know there are lots of people here that aren't happy about Mo's return. Ch.com doesn't have a polling feature and it's pointless to "ask" in a thread since it maxes out at 20, etc.

SHC,
As usual, my thoughts are in sync with yours. I am not lining up behind Mo and would prefer to see someone else at the helm of what I think is going to be an exciting team next year which could possess more potent firepower than this year, but I am also lining up behind the team. In fact, my wife and I just decided last night to show our faith in the team by upgrading our 24-game plan to a full-season and I'm in the process of doing that right now (not moving from our beloved Section 304 however!).

It's not solely my decision for downsizing...but let me put it this way, which I'm sure a lot of us twits think:
If Mo would be gone and the direction of the team looked strong, I would scratch and claw at every last cent to keep my current level. If things seem like our administration doesn't care--why should I put in the effort.
