Got mine today. Seems Eric's hand was definitely cramped by the time he got to mine. Smears galore! I'm not complaining, it's a great gift. Thanks for the hard work rookie!

Got mine, too...a special one with a "12" and everything! I wish it came with a little plastic stand or something, but I guess that's just incentive to go to The Eye and get one.

On the downside, FedEx just left it on my doorstep .

Mine was apparently towards the end too. If I didn't know who signed it, I could never guess. It is a cool gift though.

and goalie33 if you have a work address, they will deliver stuff there. The first year I had a terrible time finally getting my season tickets, so now I have everything delivered to my office. I am surprised they left it...a coworker had to sign for my puck.

Here's the funny thing, Mona: I was at home!! I was, ahem, occupied when the FedEx guy came, but he didn't even ring the doorbell before leaving it or anything, just plopped it on the doorstep. My only tipoff was the faint diesel engine and the dog barking a few times. It's not a big deal, really, being a nondescript envelope and all, and I would've found it anyway on the way to get the mail...but it's the principle of the thing.

Luckily, with my tickets, they were taken back to the warehouse and I had to pick them up myself. The odd thing was that I was, once again, in the house when the attempted delivery notice was left. Apparently ringing the doorbell to see if anyone's home, like UPS does, is not in the FedEx protocol.

When they delivered my season tickets the first year, or tried to, of course I was at work. I kept waiting and waiting for them and they never came. I called the Canes office and they told me when they were mailed out. I finally got a note on the door from Fed Ex saying that delivery had failed and I needed to make other arrangements. So I called the number they left and arranged for them to be delivered to my office. The funny thing was when I finally got my tickets, there was a note written on the envelope by the delivery person and it said.. ADDRESSEE WOULD NOT ANSWER THE DOOR. COULD HEAR THEM TALKING INSIDE. The only addressee inside the house was my two pups.. figure that one out!! :D

Got mine today....and I got one with the 12 on it!! :spin:

The FedEx guy did the same thing to me.....I was home and he just left it on the porch. No doorbell or anything. It had to have been clear I was home. There is a car in the driveway and if I heard him drop the envelope on the porch I'm sure he could have heard my TV. I'm glad, though. I knew right away it was here and since I'm cleaning right now I'm all sweaty and look a mess, I'm sure. I'd rather not have had to face some stranger anyway. :D

Actually, there is a sheet that tells you if you need to add a seat or relocate you muct call or e-mail them to receive an appointment date and time before June 15 (cutting it a bit close, IMO). It says your appointment time will be predicated on your account priority AND "your response to this offer."

Here's a question for you vets. I doubt we will want to relocate our seats but if we get lucky and someone in our same row the next section over doesn't renew (I guess that's lucky  ) we might want to move there. I don't want my current seats up for grabs until we see what is available. Do they make your current seats available if you sign-up for Select-A-Seat? Anyone know?

no they don't. your seats are yours unless you decide to change. if you go to select a seat and decide you don't want to change, or that there are no seats available close to you, then you just turn in your paper and leave! the biggest problem is that unless the person has officially notified them, the seat may not show as available. I'd ask my rep to check into it and see if the seats you're interested in are open. that's how it's been done in the past, but who knows if they've changed the rules. I'm staying put next season so I can avoid select a seat this time around.

Well, I've got a show opening next week, so I've not been getting home 'till 11:00 or so for several nights, now. So, my routine has been as I'm pulling in my driveway I flip on my high beams to light up my front porch so I can see if there's anything lieing on my door mat!! Then, after pulling into the garage, I still walk out to the front porch and walk around, even though I didn't see anything as I was pulling up. I'm like, "Maybe it's under the door mat...."

I got my puck today - sort of. Actually Mr. NCCanes got my puck at his office. That was the address that I asked them to send our Season Tickets because of the signature issue. I had no idea that the address would become the "ship to address" of record for our account. Thank goodness he still works there.

I don't think the renewal paperwork had anything that referred to "ship to" on it, and I think it's rather presumptuous that the address used 9 months ago for a specific "signature required" delivery is still the same address. I did my renewal by phone and was not asked to confirm a shipping address.

Just fyi.

Oh, and I don't think there is a #12, though Mr. NCCanes said it was illegible and signed over the Minnesota logo so who knows.

I got mine today too. That signature could say Eric Staal or it could say "fooled you"! there is a squib that I think is supposed to be a 12, but again, Joe in concessions could have signed it for all you can tell, but it's a pretty All Star puck with pretty silver scribble on it. Yay for us for paying early :spin: ;)

I find it funny how some of you want a puck with the number twelve, all pristine etc. I love my puck! Sloppy and yucky! We all have proof of all the pucks eric had to sign in the pics they showed of all the tables of pucks lined up. I'm glad I got the puck towards the end, when eric was on his last fingers, when the electricity down the nerves to his pinky just wasn't flowing anymore, yet he still put out the effort to make his mark. The sloppy pucks are better! No Number 12 is better! He signed my puck with a crampy hand, and I love the guy for it. (Not in the man-love type of way, not that there's anything wrong with that)

If Eric puts out a fourth of that effort on the ice in the future, we'll be a great team. Everyone without a number twelve, and with sloppy handwriting on your puck, be proud of the rookie's effort he put into signing it. I am. And I agree, something so precious should not be left on a doorstep or at the old delivery address. It should be protected by Frodo himself.

I don't care if it's pristine or not, but we are talking totally illegible. We are talking there are no actual recognizable letters or numbers. We are talking you could make a case that you have to take their word for it that Staal signed them, because you couldn't prove it.

That said, I've got mine. I love mine. I'm not giving it back ;)

You lucky dog!
Yours is better than mine!!! I wonder who got the last, the crampiest, the nastiest Staal autograph. I bet they get good luck for the whole year.
Mine looks like the sharpy marker became a Flattie! Hardly any ink to the sig too. That counts for something.

Let's face it, hockey is about grinding it out. Growing a playoff beard. Getting gaunt and dehydrated. Cramps and bruises and injuries What would you rather have, a preseason jersey in it's pristine state or a Stanley cup finals jersey ruffed up with blood and board burns and tears, and the actual stench of the lockerroom on it because your favorite player sweat all over it?
A messy puck comes closer to that yucky used jersey. Messy puck owners be proud!!@!!!!!!

I guess the best puck would be the one Eric picked up and blew a bunch of snot on while signing it. That would be one of the nastiest. Or if he got so cramped and tired while signing and he puked over an entire table of pucks, then signed them. That would be a keepsake worthy of a metal puck stand with laser lights on it.

Mine actually looks like it's been played with (before the logos were put on). It's all scuffed up and stuff. I wonder if they used pucks that were used in the warm-ups or something. Wally could have gotten them buckets full! :D

So, see, mine's still better than yours. :p ;)

mine's got scuffs too, so there  I thought maybe they came from someone forcing Eric's hand onto them!

Maybe the scuffs are from the moment Eric freaked out and started throwing them all over the place yelling "I can't take it anymore". That's when the marketing guy that dreampt this up said "okay, you don't have to include the #12 anymore".

I wonder who got the last, the crampiest, the nastiest Staal autograph

I think that would be me... my puck looks like it has two marks by a marker...nothing is legible... I think at the point he signed mine, he was just grazing the puck with his pen..and was using his mouth because his hand was cramped up like a claw! :D

Won't he be thrilled to know he will have to sign more when he returns for the Draft? If you see him running out the door, we will all know why!

You people are obviously illiterate. I see a big "E," a big "S," and a little cursive "N" where the 12 should be. It was definitely Eric that signed it, too, because it looks just like the "ESll12"-plus-a-cross-without-the-t to-go-with-it that he put on my jersey at the STH party .

BTW, I wholeheartedly support nccanes' "Most Punk Puck" contest.

Yay - the contest has a name. :D

I won't win though. My puck is pristine, no nicks, scrapes, or puke, lol. It definitely has the 12 and the "E" is recognizable. It kind of looks like a cursive "EM" with a triangle overlaying them (I guess a big flourish to cross the invisible "t").

I gotta reconnect my scanner tomorrow and then I'll start a separate thread for the images -- unless someone gets that started first.

Aaryn-- I hope you understand when I say "Hell No!"

I think the autographed puck was lagniappe-- a nice bonus-- to go with the 20% discount for early renewal. I don't have much in the way of Hurricanes collectables (not like you Aaryn), but this and a few other items is a good start...I'm tickled with mine, its legible signature and no number...

Aaryn,
If You're coming to the draft you might get some good opportunities to get one from the man himself. If not I could try to get you one signed by him sometime during the year. If there is a season next year.

I am in no way affiliated with FedEx, but did happen to be at home when the delivery guy came by, and I got to hear his side of it. (My wife ships dozens of boxes each week as part of her business, so I think the FedEx guy assumes he can talk to me more 'honestly' than he might to someone else. Or else he just likes to b**** to anyone who'll listen.)

The Canes bagged up all 10,000 pucks at once and handed them over to Fedex as a mass delivery order. For customers with that sort of volume, it is generally understood that the pick up is done in sections of 2,000 each so that the delivery effort is staggered. Since the Canes didn't do it that way, it became the responsiblity of the FedEx drivers to sort out how they could get them all taken care of.. most of the time it would all go to the national hubs, but 95% of the delivery addresses were local (season ticket holders, natch) so it was a major pain for them to pull drivers back from what was going to be a three-day weekend.

Do I really care? Nope. Do I expect you to care? Not at all. But if you found it on your doorstep, instead of a more careful method of delivery, there was a reason.

I was wondering that too. I assume that is full season tix and mini-packs that all renewed before the deadline. That's pretty good considering what I was expecting.....my totally uneducated guess was expecting us to take a pretty big hit.

it still wouldn't have been 10,000 pucks. every STH got a single puck regardless of # of seats as I understand it. I have 2 seats and I got one puck.

The FedEx gentleman was very insistent on the point that it was 10,000 pucks.

He could have been wrong, but I asked him "10,000?!?" in the voice you might expect me to have at that moment, and his answer was affirmative, twice.

could be 10,000 if there are 10,000 different accounts. that would be great if 10,000 people paid in advance. that would be a pretty big STH base for 04-05. I have 2 seats and lots of people have 3-4 seats. Let's just hope they have a season

That happened when i ordered my Gretzky jersey
