I like to think I'm a runner, although I am just getting back into running after a year off with a knee injury. I am slowly rebuilding, aiming to do some 5K's in the summer...although not any that start at the RBC Center. I tried that a couple of years ago with a pitiful 5K time due to all the hills...

Cool! I started about 2 years ago (thanks to my wife) I've done two 5Ks and the Raleigh 1/2 Marathon (starts/finishes at RBC) this past fall. Doing the Cary 10K this weekend.

Would love to hear more of your running stories.

I used to do track and cross country though due to some complications in with my feet I was unable to keep doing distance running and had to switch to sprinting. Jumping was my favorite though :D .

well, the only running I do is when I find myself empty on beer right before a faceoff ;) and the answer is easy, you will not be subjected to me in a bikini ;)

I'm not really a runner. I've had a terrible time with shin splints in my life. But I do go about 45 minutes on an elliptical machine 5-6 nights a week. It says it's about 5.5 miles, but I dunno.

That's about as close as I can get to running. I've been doing that since January, and I am actually hoping the muscles over my shins have been getting stronger so that I will eventually be able to get on the treadmill...

I only run when chased.

Ummm, no.

Actually I used to run, in the younger more active days, but I now have no cartilage in one of my knees so it makes it sorta painful.

Arg! Shin splints are the worst! I stopped running after the 1/2 marathon in Sept and rested through the winter (due to some injuries and illnesses). When I started back in late Feb, I had some massive ones going. As you run, of course the muscles strengthen, so that we you stop for an extended period then start back it's like they've collapsed.

Hopefully now things are better. That and playing roller hockey will tune me back up. Great for endurance!

Here's hoping I don't collapse this weekend! (-:

Treadmill jogger here, but have taken off 6 weekes because of illness. I am actually afraid to get back on again because i am dreading the shin splits so badly. Nothing worse...well, on second thought, a playoff season without the canes in it would be worse:(

I was on the track team in middle school, but then got terribly out of shape, and now I've started to ride my bike (I do about 4 miles every day -- not much cause of heavy work load i n school, but about 7 or 8 miles on Saturdays and Sundays.)
