Pacific Trading Cards gets first dibs on the autographed jerseys of the newly drafted first rounders. The jerseys are official NHL stock jerseys, but no numbers or nameplate. You can buy Andrew Ladd's here, and officially have 8 days to make a bid:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25224&item=5106347734&rd=1

Be on the lookout on ebay for his draft board nameplate... the nameplates used on the draftboard on the stage get auctioned next.

That's tempting, but I'm waiting to see if Ron's last practice jersey makes it onto eBay ;) .

Question for those at the draft. So many player's jersey's had their names already on them--for example the Canes already had Ladd's name on his. Does each team have a bunch of plain jersey that they just quickly add a name to or were so many teams confident that their picks would still be available? I seemed to notice that even picks in the 20's had the names on the jerseys.

It goes both ways. Ladd's looked firmly attached (sewed), but Al Montoya's was obviously velcro because it was coming off in two places, and many of the later picks had names that were off-center from a hasty velcro job.

If we see a Ladd nameplate on ebay, I'd be suspicious, because the photo in his hometown paper has him wearing the jersey that had "LADD" firmly attached both during the draft proceedings and the STH party.

I was watching and couldn't tell specifically, but it looked like someone would prepare the names on a nameplate and those would be stuck on the jersey with velcro. Each team had a stack of jerseys that were blank except for "04" as the number to signify year of draft. Some of the teams didn't have time to complete the nameplates, so those boys went without, but other teams were so quick to put on the nameplate you could see them flapping loosely until someone patted them down. From JR's comments, he wasn't sure he would move up to number 4 until it was certain ovechkin, malkin, and barker were the first three gone. If not, there were no guarantees that Columbus would give up the fourth spot. So Ladd's name could have been pre-prepared, but not stuck on until it was certain he was ours.

Thanks apolinar! Velcro certainly makes a lot of sense. From a distance they looked like the real thing though. Very cool.

G33, I think AP was referring to the nameplate that was actually up on the board indicating he was the 4th pick. At least that's how I read it.

You know, Ovechkin did not have a name on his jersey. Seems odd huh?

D'oh! Got it. Draft BOARD, not Draft STAGE.

Right nccanes, the actual name board that got slid into position to list his name as the fourth pick goes up. I'm not bidding on either this time. Someone paid about 5 or 6 hundred bucks during the last draft to get Eric Staal's first signed jersey and the Draft Board Nameplate. I was lucky enough to get Cam Ward's jersey/plate from 2002 for less than 200!!! Hope he plays with the team a Looooooooooong time. Will look nice next to Ronnie's practice jersey :)

I'll sell my Andrew Ladd signed Draft puck for a mere $200! The "ndrew" is kind of scribbly, makes a great companion piece for your Eric Staal All-Star puck!
