I noticed NHL 2004 at EB Games at Crabtree yesterday for $9.99...
Good price!

Did it have Heatley on the box or Sakic?
The 2K5 games are a steal to try and grab share from EA.

Heatley. They had a bunch of them, too. Must have not sold well...

I'll pay the extra $30 for Madden! It has historically been that much better. Now NHL 2K5 may be another story...
NCAA 2005 on XBox live is freakin' amazing! Although I got spanked the only time I played online.

2k3, and ESPN NHL 2004, have blown EA away in the hockey department the last 2 years.
I hope the cheaper prices aren't a result of lack of improvement or anything.

ESPN NFL 2k5 blows Madden out of the water. 'Nuff said. :D
EDIT - Here is a new ESPN NHL 2k5 preview:

The reason I play the ESPN NHL game is the same reason I play Winning Eleven 7 instead of FIFA 2004. The EA games are just not realistic in style of play. If realistic isn't your thing, the EA games are great fun, but I like to utilize my vast hockey and soccer knowledge base to help me win .
The screenshots of NHL 2k5 look amazing...not only is Lalime already a Blue, but he's wearing the right model of goal pad . One thing about the EA hockey games that has always irked me is that the goalie animations are sparse, and the pad designs are always four-five years out of date.

Plus in ESPN Bill Clement, and Gary Thorne will say your name!
that makes it all worth it to me! :D

I've been playing EA hockey for over a decade. But, it seems ESPN is making a serious push here. I will surely check their NHL out this year. Whether or not I'll buy it... we'll see.
I have to say though, widescreen 480p is a major draw for me. :D
Let's see more of that!

I'm to freeeking cheap to buy a console...I have to stick with EA because nobody else makes a PC Version! Honestly, the past 2 or 3 EA games have all been the same, with the exception of some minor tweaks in 2004. I'd really like for someone else to come out with a PC version....guess it just isn't a moneymaker.

Thanks for posting that review. You can load up your own arena music!?! I can so see myself wasting the time to that--it's scary. Add a little Ric Flair and this game will be perfect. :D

Best presentation on the market
The exclusive ESPN presentation system has been enhanced with locker room and JumboTron cut scenes, more commentary, more crowd chants, more music with custom sound tracks, and yes, ice girls.
I feel Slighted! :D

Well I can say that EA's College football game is pretty decent as far as game play goes. I have some serious difficulties passing the ball but the adjustments teams make to your tendencies and the moves you can make to counter those adjustments are awsome.

IMO ESPN NFL 2k5 is not that great. I dont know what it is, but the play seems too slow, I dont like how the cameras zoom in and out during play, and I dont like the tackle animations
NCAA 2005 is awesome, could be the best football game Ive ever played

I got NHL 2k5! I had to come back to work so I have not played it yet. They had teh game running in EB Games and it looked awesome. I saw a close up shot of the crowd and they were not flat. It may have been after a goal. Can't wait to play it tonight!

I love the fighting in the game. You can actually circle around the other guy Boulerice style and then land some haymakers to the grill. You can skate all over the ice if you want to. Is is pretty sweet.
One thing that I noticed about the game is that after I score a goal, the goal horn does not go off until after the replays and the center ice faceoff has occured. Wonder if it is just my game, or it has happened to other too?

Wow Really loving ESPN!
My biggest (yet still minor) gripes so far are:
1. Fighting. The actual fighting is great fun, but I seem to be racking up fighting majors with guys like Staal O'Neil, Wesley and Hedican. I've tried turning figbhting down, but then guys like Boulerice don't fight nearly as much. So I've just adjusted the temperments of the players some. Can't figure out why they were set so low anyways.
2. Ice time stats. They almost got it right this time. Only after games on the stat sheet can you see the TOI stats. But there they show, TOI. Number of shifts, Short Handed TOI, and PP TOI.
3. The Players Stats page. When you click on the ESPN.COM header, then the players stats (not the leader boards for points etc.) You can go look at other teams stats, but their isn't an All NHL screen like last years game had. I'd really like to have that back to compare states such as hits, shifts, shots, PIM's etc.
Thats about all I can really think of at the moment that I don't like. This game is really a great hockey game.

I picked this up the end of last week ... gotta say I'm disappointed. All the extras stuff is great, but the game play just isn't good. The skating is awful.

My brother and I are planning to pick up ESPN NHL 2K5 off Amazon soon...does this game have the same bonuses as 2K4/2004? I.E. being able to earn special historic teams like the '91 Penguins and the '02 Canes to name a couple?

I love this series, but even though I have bought all previous installments and have even picked up the current 2K5 box to purchase it three times, I know that I will never be able to buy it. The sole reason is that I just cannot put up with having Martin St. Louis on the front cover of the box. Sad but true.

THIS GAME ROCKS!!! :D
Man, I love it. The gameplay is awesome. Probably the best gameplay yet. I love the side view and the graphics look amazing.
I think it's safe to say that 2k3 has been topped. I reccomend this game to everyone. A steal for $19.99. Heck, I would have bought it at $50. It's just that good.
