I agree with the article's final conclusion. I've always thought the arguement that the talent pool was diluted was ridiculous. Wanna know why there is less scoring today? It's because goaltending and defense are more respected and have improved as a result, IMO. So, hockey in the US has grown dramaticaly over the years and we are now getting players from Europe but somehow the talent is diluted? I don't think so.

Player talent is not diluted, IMO.
Officiating talent, on the other hand, is. More teams plus the 2-ref project have caused many more refs to join the party, and some of them are quite marginal. Again, IMO.

No i dont belive it is diluted. I think the coaching staffs who work on player devlopment is diluted.
