Crosby gets three points as Rimouski beats Huskies 6-3

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. (CP) - Sidney Crosby needed one period to get his legs on track. Once it happened, he Rouyn-Noranda Huskies could not stop him.

Crosby scored once and added two assists to lead the Rimouski Oceanic to a 6-3 victory over the Huskies in their first QMJHL game this season on Saturday.

Jean-Michel Bolduc scored twice while Francis Charette registered one goal and one assist. Dany Roussin and Zbynek Hrdel also had goals for Rimouski.

Philippe Dupuis, with two, and Guillaume Desbiens replied for the Huskies.

Crosby was held to only one shot in his eight first-period shifts. The 17-year-old, who lead the Canadian Hockey League with 54 goals and 135 points last season, showed his talent in the second period.

While the Oceanic was killing a minor penalty, Crosby took a loose puck in the neutral zone, beat two defencemen and goalie Jean-Philippe Levasseur with a beautiful move at 5:49, to even the score 2-2.

This guy is awesome!!! Future draft 1st pick!!!

Speaking of Crosby ... I wonder what would happen if the entire season was wiped out, but say the CBA was worked out early in what would be the offseason ... would the draft order be the same as this past season? Or would they go on last year's results and do another lottery?

Hmmmm....

I'll find the link when I get home, but I read an article about the draft. If the whole season is wiped out, there won't be a draft in 2005. The 2006 draft will have some order they figure out at some point. It will not be a repeat of the 2004 draft order. They will not hand the Caps another 1st pick just because they sucked in 03-04. OK, the article didn't use the word sucked, but I can translate pretty good and that's what they meant ;) :D

Cold draft in June?

Ottawa might not be the site of Crosby's selection
By BRUCE GARRIOCH -- Ottawa Sun

Whether the 2005 NHL entry draft is held in the nation's capital could depend on if there's a season. The draft, scheduled for the Corel Centre next June, won't go on unless there's a new collective bargaining agreement in place.

Senators COO Cyril Leeder said yesterday the city could still host a draft, but not for few years.

"The draft is something that would be decided on after they make a decision on whether they're going to cancel the season," said Leeder.

"If that happens we'd probably have to wait until 2007 or 2008 to get another draft.

"I don't know where it's going in 2006, but I'm pretty sure it has been committed."

There's plenty of excitement surrounding next year's draft because Rimouski Oceanic sensation Sidney Crosby will likely be the No. 1 overall pick.

The 17-year-old QMJHL phenom, who had 51 goals and 81 assists in 59 games during his rookie campaign last season, turned down a three-year, $7.5-million US deal to play in the World Hockey Association this season.

"If there's no season there can't be a draft because this league would have a tough time figuring out who is going to get the No. 1 pick," said a league source.

"I can't see them allowing the Washington Capitals (who drafted first overall this year) to have the top pick again."
