It's late and I was going through my collection of hockey tapes. I came across Mario's comeback game in 2000. I popped it in...and as I saw the #66 being lowered from the rafters and seeing Lemieux's son Austion watching it come down, I found myself with tears coming to my eyes. Then seeing him score a goal and 2 assists in his first game back was amazing and very emotional for me.
Anyone who knows me, knows that Mario is my hero and my idle. I have had the pleasure of meeting him last year at a Canes game. He is a very nice, polite and easy-going guy. But what I admire most is his ability to never give up. He has gone through so much in his life. Battling cancer for a few years, cronique back pain his whole career but playing through it just to lift Lord Stanley's cup. To me, I think he would have made Jimmy V pround if they would have met. "Don't ever give up." and Lemieux never has. I heard that the game against the Canes this year could possibly be his last game. If so, thanks Mario for the memories and we will miss you!

He's certainly a class act....one of the best ever in the game with Gordie, Gretzky, and our own Ron Francis. He's battled back through adversity to be one of organized sports' best athletes ever.
He never gave up...and look where it got him.

We heare so much about him being 2nd or 3rd best all time. Can you imagine where he'd be if he stayed healthy his whole career? For those of you who do not know, Le Magnifique has played through back problems, Hogdkins Disease, and many other ailments. The guy played and played well after received radiation treatment for the Hodgkins. Amazing!
