Didn't get a shot and did not get the flu. But instead got allergy related colds (in October and March) and Norovirus (February).

I'm pretty sure I did not get the flu but it is hard to remember. I do remember that Norovirus though, that was AWFUL!! (especially since I was at a concert when it started)

hard to tell for me, since most of my 'colds' contain aches. but I rarely get the stomach problems that go with flu. considering that last year's strain was really bad... I'll say I didn't have it.
no shot, no flu. (haven't gotten flu shots since I was a lad. different story having a child who can't get the shot and has very little immunities though. probly means we should)

Lord, tell me about it. And what made Noro incredibly scary for me was not the main symptom associated with it, but instead the dizziness. Because of that, I blacked out for about a minute while trying to find my ReliefBand (a motion sickness/nausea preventer that my dad got from The Sharper Image that actually works for the most part!) when my coming down with Noro started.

I've had the flu only once in my life (about 14 years ago). If you've got the flu - you will have no doubt. Totally incapacitated for 3 straight days, basically unable to move, fever - just awful.
I remember Mr. NCCanes coming home from work to find me in the exact place he'd left me. He kept suggesting that I take a shower to make me feel better (like it sometimes does when you've got a cold or something) and I told him I couldn't even imagine sitting up long enough to take a shower, let alone stand.
Having said all that, I still have not gotten a flu shot and each year keep thinking I should. I guess this will be a bad year to start based on the supply not being sufficient.

I didn't get the shot and I did get the flu.
However, I only tend to get the flu every three to four years and never get the shot. Hopefully I'm OK for another three to four years. God knows that last bout was bad enough!!!!

I've only gotten the flu once, that I can remember...and have only gotten the shot once in the past 5 years, two years ago, and I didn't get the flu that year.
I was planning on getting it this year, but now they've come out and said that if you're relatively healthy, don't get it, because one of the principle makers of the vaccine lost its license to sell it here, so the supply is way down. They're trying to keep it reserved for those who are more prone to the virus...
I do have a pretty good immune system, though. I always tell my mom that it's because I never clean behind my ears.

I get the flu shot every year since I do provide direct patient care, but one year (about 10 years ago) I waited too late and I did get the flu. I was so sick for a week that I wanted someone to put a pillow over my face  I learned my lesson. I can't believe there is going to be another shortage this year. I got an email from the hospital that they are doing everything they can to get enough vaccine for employees, but so far no luck.

I have only ever gotten the vax once (and I did get the flu that year) but starting next year I guess I'll be getting it forever.
I've only had the flu twice that I remember. Let me tell you...the SECOND you think you have the flu go to the doctor. I did last time and got some of that lovely anti-viral stuff (if you want me to get more technical, I'd be glad to, lol) and it is amazing. It prevents viral replication so if your viral titer is already high there's not much point but if you catch it early enough it works miracles. I had concert tickets three days after my flu started and I was there and feeling pretty good. Great stuff.

I got the flu pretty bad four years ago (after not getting a vaccine), and the past three years I've gotten the shot and haven't gotten the flu. That's just me, but I always get it, just to be safe.

I've only gotten a flu shot once--about 5 years ago. My arm hurt so bad afterward, and I could barely raise it for almost a week. The whole experience made me shy away from the shots ever since. Since I've lived in NC (9 years), I think I've only gotten the flu once, but it wasn't the year I had the shot.
Since there's such a shortgage of vaccines this year, and I don't fall into any of the high risk groups, I kinda feel like it's my civic duty not to get a shot. I wouldn't want to think I was depriving it from someone who really needed it.

I've always felt it my civic duty to not get a shot.
I'm not afraid of needles, I just don't get them unless I think it's necessary. I think I had the flu once, I don't even remember. So I won't sweat it. Let everyone else get it, they're the ones that need it.

I guess I'm the greedy one then. :D
Seriously though, I have a pretty bad immune system, so definitely feel safer (and I think it HAS worked) when I get the shot.
