I don't want to spoil what I have planned for y'all, so all I will say for now is that everything went well, and everyone is fine, if not a little tired. I'll be posting pics and details later, I just wanted to let you know that our family officially has 3 members now.

Ethyn James Bechard

Born 7:16pm Wednesday February 2, 2005, weighing 8 lbs 5 oz.

Both Melanie and Ethyn are doing well, but both are very tired. Melanie was induced at about 10:15-10:30am Wednesday, but they had to use forceps to spring him. Other than that, Melanie was a real trooper and didn't complain at all. I just did my best to support and encourage her and did EXACTLY what the nurses told me to. They are staying overnight again tonight and may be coming home Saturday, but we'll have to see how things are tomorrow.

Welp, there ya go! I should relay another piece of info......... we knew that we were having a boy all along ;) . On the day that we went into to talk to the doctor aboUt the results of our ultrasounds, we had talked aboUt finding out, but hadn't committed to knowing or not knowing. So when the doctor asked if we'd like to know, we just looked at each other waiting for one of us to say yay or nay. The doctor then chimed in with "so I take it we already know you're having a boy?", to which Melanie said "well, we know now." Anyhooooo, so not to ruin it for everyone else, we didn't let on that we knew, thereby keeping it a surprise. So, thanks again for all your well wishes and the advice. Now the fun begins.

PPS: BTW, please note Dad is wearing some of the Hurricanes wear he bought at the 2004 Draft - COINCIDENCE?

As for the helmet............ well, that was in the same place his skates were............ the "Need to grow into" drawer.

Here is young Ethyn modelling the outfit that Dad bought for him at the Draft last June. Dad thought he bought one large enough that young Ethyn could wear it for quite a while, but young Ethyn apparently has plans of his own and is trying grow into a frame big enough to get drafted as soon as possible!
