2004-05 AHL All-Rookie Team unveiled
http://www.theahl.com/AHL/News/2005/04/05/983323.html
Cam Ward, Goaltender (Lowell Lock Monsters)
A first-round choice by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Cam Ward has shined in his first professional season in Lowell with a record of 24-16-3 and six shutouts in 46 appearances, ranking seventh in the league with a 2.04 goals-against average and second with a .935 save percentage. The 21-year-old Ward, from Sherwood Park, Alta., earned honors as the Reebok AHL Rookie of the Month in December 2004.

LLM- you're almost there! The end of the trip is the longest part for some crazy reason! Hang in there and thanks for this laugh inducing post (why I found it 'funny' I'm not sure- but it made me feel better)
My *mole* went yesterday and low and behold, I was waiting for the riot act and what a riot act it was!! After the team photo (I guess they all looked soooo happy) the games were afoot and Coach Rowe went somewhat nuclear on their asses.
Sorry that they got skated and chewed out, but dang, it had to happen. These boys are in some kind of la-la land out there and they're nowhere near L.A.! Wake the heck up guys!
It's hockey night in Lowell and it's Springfield on the schedule- I agree with LLM- they have not exhibited the 'let's put these guys into the ground' instinct in the last SEVERAL games and if I see them jump out with a lead like say 3-0 after 1 and then all of a sudden they're all getting in recline mode, I will become ScreechGrl#3 ;)

Well were nearly at the end of this game vs Springfield, and Monsters are up 4-2. About 10 minutes left- and I guess they're doing ok....
"Highlights/lowlights" - At 48 seconds in Springfield scored- Staal apparently missed his defensive assignment and the screechers pointed it out several times- Staal was benched for the remaining 19 minutes of the period. And on and on screechers went "10 minutes left in the 1st and STILL NO ERIC STAAL" There was mention made of the 'hard practices' this week- and 'accountability' by Ryan when he talked to Rowe in the pregame. I guess the first person to screw up would be made the example, and it was #12.
Danny Richmond was a scratch and apparently was all over the concourse in his white "miami vice" suit- Screechers kept talking about it. What a sight I'm sure.
I've heard Kobasew/Staal/Forbes names minimally.
Still mental lapses in this bunch. All of the goals are from the grinders.
I guess they're trying to turn the corner.............. very ho hum night to me- but if they can hang on for a win, I guess we can take it.......

oh/.......my....god.... I heard something about Richmond and white pants, but not before Memorial Day! Glamour don't Danny!
Missed screechfest, the last few miles are always the hardest and now I am 3 hours behind the east coast with AZ not observing daylight savings time. *ugh* Body will be out of whack for a few days.
I don't think Screechfest mentioned the riot act because they don't go to practices. I know Ryan does other radio shows during the day, not quite sure what Eric does outside the rink. But a goal within the first 30 seconds of the game?! What is it going to take to snap these boys out of this malaise?
Nice to see Regehr back from his concussion/heart problems. But they should have flattened this springfield team. It was a perfect opportunity to exercise killer instinct, be a good launchpad for the last few games of the season, growing confidence, etc, etc, etc. But I guess not!
Staal has been mentioned for the world championships, wonder if he will be allowed to leave before the end of the monster season. If they keep playing like this, the season may over sooner than later.
Many congrats to Cam for rookie team honors. He and Kobasew have been the most consistent players all year. I believe they are the only 2 players (besides Krahn) to escape the Wrath of Rowe. Rowe didn't run practice yesterday, he stayed far away tryign to send yet another message.
ANyway, got a boatload of emails to get to. I will try again to listen to screechfest fri night. Maybe we should call in and ask Ryan is Danny doing his Miami Vice impression again? Any other GQ guys running around?

Is Rowe the type of coach that would ever yell at a goalie? Just wondering. Mo always said that he didn't know anything about goaltending so he let them handle their jobs. I must say that in my personal experience, no outside advice or encouragement really does anything for a goalie, aside from a reassuring tap on the pads after a bad goal. I don't think a coach could get a goalie back on track by chewing him out...goalies are their own worst enemies when it comes to confidence.
I tend to get REALLLLLLLLLY mad when I let in a bad goal, meaning one I should've had, not one that is the result of a crazy bounce or missed assignment. Someone will usually skate over and say "settle down" or "shake it off," but no one can settle down a goalie or get him to tighten up his game but himself. It's just not the same paradigm as chewing out a forward who is slacking on the backcheck.

interesting perspective goalie 33. Scott Allen runs the D, Rowe works the offense, but over the last stretch of games the only bright spots have been the goalies (and Kobasew). Dave Marcoux tends to work with the goalies but I don't think he is in town anymore. Going to be a fun stretch.

LLM- Yeah, it was mentioned in the N&O today, and I also saw it in one of the Toronto papers that Team Canada is eyeing #12- If it works out timewise, great - but like you say if they keep playing with mental lapses, their playoff run will be cut real short- and irony, if he does get the nod- he'll be playing against his coach and some team mates. LOL. I think it would be a good experieince if he does get the call.

It's been a fruitful weekend for our Monsters- LLM you out there?? ;) A first-time-in-3-years win over Providence in Providence, a great win against Bridgeport with an apparent "beauty" of a shortie for Staal who had 3 points last night along with his 7th shortie for the year. 25 goals and 50 points for Staal and our 3rd and 4th liners are really chipping in and taking care of things when the big boys get shut down.
Listening to the Monsters v. Portland - Pirates were winning, we have scored 2 in less than a minute- Ziggy scored the first, Carsen Germyn scored next....... about 12 minutes left to go in the 3rd....Portland just tied it.... UGH. Mental lapses- lets see how they do......
As Johnny Forslund would say..."and down the stretch we go" just a handful of games & we're in the playoffs. Lowell officially clinched last night- a couple write ups on the weekend so far..
Letting their guard down
Trying the create a spark, P-Bruins coach Scott Gordon pulls starting goalie Hannu Toivonen, but the team's lackluster performance ends its six-game winning streak.
BY JOE McDONALD
Journal Sports Writer
PROVIDENCE -- Solid goaltending is crucial with the playoffs only two weeks away.
So why did Providence Bruins coach Scott Gordon pull Hannu Toivonen last night, after he had backboned the team in its six-game winning streak?
"There was nothing wrong with Hannu," said Gordon. "There may have been something wrong with the rest of the team. We weren't going, and I'm not going to waste his efforts under those conditions. I gave it a couple of more shifts, we didn't pick it up, so let's get him ready for tomorrow night. And, at the same time, give Chris (Madden) some work."
Either way, the Lowell Lock Monsters skated away with a 3-1 victory over the P-Bruins.
It was the fourth time this season Toivonen had been pulled, but the first time while he was playing well. Overall, he made 13 saves on 16 shots before Gordon pulled him at 9:49 of the second period last night. Gordon said his decision was not based on Toivonen's recent knee surgery.
"Not at all," said the coach. "We just weren't going. Lowell came out and played with a lot of urgency, and we didn't match it until the third period. Unfortunately, we dug ourselves too big of a hole."
Providence remains ahead of Worcester for the fourth and final playoff spot, and trails Lowell by six points.
"Lowell was ready to play, and it came out hard," said P-Bruins co-captain Brent Thompson. "I don't think we were mentally ready to play. Systems-wise, we were ready but we were a step behind. We didn't have the intensity we needed to win. It's a late learning experience. At this time of the year every team is gunning for a playoff spot, every team is focusing on the playoffs. As a team, that's something we need to be aware of every single night. We've been playing well, but tonight we weren't at our same intense level."
Providence had several flurries early, but it was the Lock Monsters who struck first.
Lowell's Dustin Johner took a pass at the P-Bruins' blue line, broke in on Toivonen, faked a backhand pass and beat a screened Providence goalie for a 1-0 lead at 12:01 of the first period.
The Lock Monsters capitalized early in the second, again through a scramble in front, as Mike Zigomanis collected a loose puck and slipped it through a pile of bodies for a 2-0 lead at 1:16.
Turnovers were a problem for Providence last night, and Lowell took advantage of them. The Lock Monsters converted when P-Bruins defenseman Milan Jurcina fanned on a breakout pass. Lowell's Mark Giordano intercepted it and beat Toivonen for a 3-0 lead at 5:16 of the second.
Shortly thereafter, Toivonen was replaced by Madden.
Just when it seemed all was lost for the P-Bruins, they pumped one in at 7:49 of the third period when Martin Samuelsson notched his seventh goal of the season. Providence responded after the tally, but lost a huge offensive weapon when the team's leading point-getter, Andy Hilbert, dropped the gloves with Lowell's Matthew Lombardi. Both were assessed five-minute majors.
That was a pretty good trade-off for the Lock Monsters since Lombardi has four points in only seven games. Hilbert has 78 points (37 goals, 41 assists) in 75 games.
"Whether we won the previous six," said Gordon, "or we lost the previous six, the bottom line is that every game is important. We're trying to wrap up a playoff spot, and the only way you can do that is to worry about the game in hand."
Staal, Giordano rally red-hot Lock Monsters by Bridgeport
The Lowell Sun
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Eric Staal scored his league-leading seventh short-handed goal and assisted on two scores to lead the Lowell Lock Monsters to 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Bridgeport last night.
Lowell (44-25-1-5), which trailed 2-1 entering the third period, locked up at least third place in the AHL's Atlantic Division.
Rookie defenseman Mark Giordano scored the game-winner at 6:36 on the power play. After scoring only three goals in his first 58 pro games, Giordano has scored a goal in three straigh games.
Brent Krahn stopped 31 shots to win his fifth straight game.
Trailing 2-1, Lowell tied it when Staal set up Colin Forbes just 20 seconds into the third period. Staal, who now has 75 points, and Chuck Kobasew set up Giordano's winning goal.
Lowell, winners of four straight games, took a 1-0 lead when Staal collected his short-handed goal at 14:17 of the opening period. Scoring goals for Bridgeport were Justin Papineau and Chris Campoli.
Wade Dubielewicz stopped 29 of 32 shots for the Sound Tigers.
The Lock Monsters will host the Portland Pirates and Chris Bourque, the son of Bruins great Raymond Bourque, today at 4 p.m. Bourque joined the Pirates earlier this week.
-- With opponents yet to be determined -- Lowell will play either Manchester or Hartford -- Round 1, Game 3 of the division semifinals will be held at Tsongas Arena either Saturday, April 23 or Sunday, April 24.
Game 4 is slated for Tuesday, April 26. Game 6, if necessary, will be held at Tsongas on Saturday, April 30. Individual tickets for the division semifinals will go on sale at the Tsongas Arena Box office on Monday, April 18.

I am here, sorta! Still getting used to the time change and the disasterous move and calls back to the east coast.
I heard some of the fri game online but couldn't listen to screechfest, but instead heard the PBruins feed..... oh my god. We thought screechfest was bad, the play by play guy (corey masse who does some intermittent TV work for NESN) was unbelievably bad! And he kept forgetting when the live feed was off and on. Oh that was entertaining. ;)
It sounded like the boys got the effort car in gear. Coach Rowe stresses work ethic and if you don't use it, have it, you better get it or you will sit. I think finally the message got through?
BUT, it looks like a potential Hartford/Lowell matchup which is not good. Hartford is big, strong and skilled and has a history of pushing Lowell all over the ice. The boys will have to rachet up the killer instinct to play them. Last stretch this weekend, it will be interesting. THey should beat Worcester and Albany.
I get to see the long beach icedoggies wed night, not sure who they are playing quite yet but I know it's not FLA ..... yet. God I miss live hockey.
More later, got buttloads of east coast time things to do and the clock is ticking. Hopefully screechfest reception later this week!

LOL- Corey Massey- I heard him for maybe five minutes and then I got the LM Screechfest and switched over- Massey is Terrible but then again, he always seems to have that deer-in-the-headlights-look when he's on NESN so I guess I'm not surprised
Hockey Night in Lowell - we play Springfield @ 7:05pm tonight............. Just a handful of games to go until the playoffs- and these SHOULD be games that they don't struggle in, seeing how the last games being played are almost all against non-playoff teams- except that game on Friday night vs. Manchester in Manchester- LLM- aren't you bummed you're missing that game live and in person? Have fun at the IceDogs game  ... and I'd say have fun in Long Beach, but...... well, you'll see- :eek2:

Bad game vs Springfield last night Monsters lost 4-2; Were without Kobasew, Ziggy and Forbes- "with flu like symptoms" or resting for the playoffs for you and me..... :eek2: Apparently Rowe experimented with a Staal/Myhres/Richmond line in practice- gametime it was Germyn and Lyons on that top line.......
Here's the write up from Springfield- the Lowell papers didn't even write it up...
SPRINGFIELD - This was the type of game that had the Falcon faithful wishing the American Hockey League season was in its infancy instead of nearing its conclusion.
Last night's 4-2 victory by the Springfield Falcons over the Lowell Lock Monsters left many wondering where this team has been all season and why it has taken this long for it to become the team they were expected to be from the start.
The answer is simple. Maturity.
No longer are the Falcons a group of players not accustomed to playing at the professional level. It's too bad the improvement took until the final month of the regular season, but a game like the team played last night, even if Lowell was missing NHL-ready players like Chuck Kobasew, Colin Forbes and Mike Zigomanis, was one that may be a forerunner of things to come.
"We've learned a lot this year and we'll take that experience into next year," rookie center Nick Tarnasky said.
It's been nearly a month since the Falcons were eliminated from qualifying for the Calder Cup playoffs and only three games remain. Yet the players know they are playing for more than pride - they realize they may be playing for their hockey future.
One of those young players who has responded to the challenge is rookie left wing Adam Henrich. His electrifying goal during the second period was of highlight reel variety and brought a rousing cheer from the crowd of 2,765 at the Springfield Civic Center.
"He has God-given ability and incredible hands, which you saw on that goal," coach Dirk Graham said. "He just needs to round out his play a little more."
Henrich used a quick burst of speed to enter the zone, put a move on a Lowell defender that saw him headman the puck between the bewildered defenseman's legs to create an open lane to the net. Henrich buried the shot to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead.
"That," said president and general manager Bruce Landon, "was one of the prettiest goals we've scored all year."
Another pair of promising rookies, Tarnasky and Paul Ranger, also scored. For Ranger, it was his second goal in as many games after the defenseman went 44 games without one.
According to Graham, hard work and sticking to the system, has made a huge difference in the team's play. That was evident during the first period when the Falcons outshot the Lock Monsters, 15-4 and vaulted to a 2-0 lead on goals by Tarnasky and Ranger.
Tarnasky powered a Jean-Francois Soucy rebound past Brent Krahn 2 minutes, 2 seconds into the game and Ranger scored on a 40-foot slap shot following a feed from Craig Darby at 13:20.
Dustin Johner got one back for Lowell at 3:33 of the second period, before Henrich struck at 8:45. But Carsen Germyn was left alone in the slot and his power-play goal at 10:42 sliced Springfield's lead to 3-2.
Ryan Craig struck on the power play after Krahn made a save off Darby at 6:06 of the third period to give the Falcons a 4-2 lead.

oh my god.... yes I do miss seeing the boys but if this is how the boys are going to go into the playoffs (sputtering, drastic line changes, etc.) I don't know if I want to be around to see this train wreck! Least I had no screechfest/massey mangling fest.
Time to go dope slap that whole team. What does coach rowe have to do to make the boys realize this counts, this is it! Are you guys afraid of making the playoffs after a 2+ year absence!? Do you guys want to go home tomorrow?! I am stunned, shocked that yet again, the team appears to be skidding into the playoffs. Last year they skidded clear out of it.
Does it surprise me that the Lowell paper doesn't cover it? Nope, paper is a baseball paper, never liked hockey. THank god for out of town papers and people who go to the games for the real deal.
Between a bewildered defenseman's legs?! If this was October, maybe I would be in a much more understanding mode, but for poopy sake, it's the upmteenth meeting between springfield and lowell. And scoring a goal on a 40 foot slapper?! Sounds like the goal Krahn gave up in Portland a couple weeks ago.
TIme to call in my spies, find out what in the blue blazes is not happening up there.
I was hoping to see the icedogs, but they played that one playoff game at the king's practice rink (500 people saw it as opposed to the 5,600 seat rink they normally play in). But I got a spiffy hat, had a nice hat with their front office and picked up some card sheets for friends. Now I have to hope the icedogs make it to the second round! Live hockey tuesday night with a charity game in Phoenix, with supposedly Bertuzzi making an appearance. Considering there has been no publicity, the attendance should be interesting!
Anyway, off rant mode. Glad to be back *home* where I can at least attempt to listen to screech and screechlite.:)
Thanks for the updates SoCal! I feel my new england roots pulling at me!

They must have recovered from the previous experience because they are currently on fire. Its only the second period and they are up 4-0 over Manchester with goals from Colin Forbes (Staal and Kobasew assist) Richmond (Larose and Bayda assist) Germyn unassisted and Sutter (assisted by Germyn and Loyns)
I wonder if any of Manchesters key players are out with "flulike symptoms".

Great to see you on the boards LLM- sounds like you're 'adjusting' out there- yet still fully entrenched in Lowell LM nuttiness- luckily they have rebounded against their arch rivals Manchester- What the heck happened to Garon??? I expected rock em sock em like usual, but after the first 3 goals our boys were fully in control- and poor Monarchs (not really), getting booed off the ice in front of a sell out crowd- holy cow.
I picked up this article off the Manchester papers- Note that Cam Ward is now a "Calgary Flame first round pick in 2002" Oh, ok. Same dude who called Eric Staal , his 16 yr old brother Jordan when they covered the All Star Game...
And Guin- Camallerri, Clarke, etc. were all dressed- no flu-like symptoms for them-so they have no excuses...........
Monarchs title on hold until at least tonight
By KEVIN PROVENCHER
Staff Sports Writer
MANCHESTER — The Monarchs have two mulligans left to win the Atlantic Division.
Showered with boos in the sold-out Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester was overrun by the Lowell Lock Monsters, 4-1, last night.
:D
Manchester (50-20-4-4, 108 points) had its four-game win streak snapped but tonight (7:05 p.m.) at Bridgeport they can capture their first division title. They need to either win or force the game to overtime. If they can't do it tonight they get a final shot on Sunday at Worcester. They can also back into the title if Hartford loses or is forced to OT at Springfield tonight.
It was nothing more than points of pride for the Lock Monsters (45-27-1-5, 96 points), who will finish third in the Atlantic Division no matter what. The Lock Monsters snapped a two-game losing skid.
Manchester was never in it as NHL journeyman Colin Forbes scored on a straight-on one-timer just inside the blue line 4:32 into the game. Four minutes later, from the left point Danny Richmond five-holed Monarchs' goalie Mathieu Garon.
Meanwhile, Lock Monsters rookie goalie Cam Ward, the Calgary Flames' first pick in the 2002 draft, solidly earned his team-leading 26th victory of the season. Some consolation came midway through the third, when Manchester's Noah Clarke scored on a power play to a huge ovation.
However, the hockey game was decided long before that. In fact, the only thing the "Great Wall" Ward had to do in the second period was decide what he wanted on his pizza for the 30-minute ride back to Lowell. The Monarchs didn't muster a shot in the period until 4:55 was left. With 1:23 to go in the second, boos loudly rained on the Monarchs as recent Lowell signee Shaun Sutter, son of Brian Sutter, scored making it 4-0.
Lowell was up, 3-0, 12:07 into the opening period on goals from Forbes, Richmond and Carsen Germyn. For the second time this season, Garon was lifted in the first period against the Lock Monsters as Adam Hauser took over. Ward stoned George Parros on a penalty shot when it was two-zip 8:49 into it and the Monarchs missed three other wide open opportunities on the back door.

I'm working out-of-town, so I didn't have the opportunity to listen to the broadcast last night. A couple months ago, Hyena was thinking of going to Lowell. Did you make it?
3-0 win last night looked sweet by the box score. Do y'all realize that if they win their final game today, they'll hit a luscious 100 points? And with Norfolk getting a playoff spot, there's the possibility of another road trip to Norfolk--this time to catch a playoff game??!!! :D
Staal didn't play last night, and hasn't been too productive lately. Is nursing an injury, or do you think he's just being rested for the playoffs? Anybody know? Just curious.....

They said at the game last night, they were just resting him for the playoffs, but it did say in the paper this morning that his groin is a little bit sore. So, I guess it would be a combination of both.

I was also wondering about a road trip to Lowell - I know some folks were thinking of one.
Last time I checked with hyena she was thinking of passing, but I think there were some other Canes fans headed up.
Any reports?
I suppose the AHL playoff sched won't be published until tomorrow? I have a small window of time next weekend to take in a game and would love to catch an Admirals game on Sat. night, just to see playoff hockey. Hopefully I'll be in luck and get to go.
Lowell and Norfolk both have to win 2 series to get a head to head matchup, so theres hope (however slim) to see the Monsters in Norfolk again.

I am pretty sure the playoff tickets went on sale last Monday. We will know by the end of the game when and who we are playing. Pretty simple - Manchester wins or ties or Hartford loses, we play Hartford. Hartford wins and Manchester loses, we play Manchester. You could say many of us are pulling for Hartford to win.
If we play Hartford, first home game is Sunday at 4:00(first away - Thu.)
If we play Manchester, first home game is Saturday at 7:00(first away - Wed.)
Hope this helps and was not to confusing.

back back back.... yes I did listen to the first period of the manchester game fri night and nearly fell off my chair when I hear George Parros getting a penalty shot?! Talk about stonehands..... but it appeared the snoozefest was over, and considering they finally handed Portland their collective heads on a platter with a 3-0 whitewash, I remain hopeful for the playoffs.
I still think hartford round 1. *ding* heavy weight matchup, sorta like on South Park with Jesus and Beeeeeeaaaalllllllzzaaaboooobbb...... Hoping not but I cannot believe Bruce Boudreau would let the boys have 1st place slip through their fingers today. Flu like symptoms my butt. WHy do they even bother with clear day rosters at this point if teams keep shuffling all kinds of players in and out of lineups? No scouts have been at these games. They will start showing next week for sure.
I thought it was a 4 pm start, guess not.
And I see the local scribes who have only had 6 months and 10 matchups to get which farm club which player belongs to.... punted! You go NH.:) I miss the little intracies of the game like this. All the stuff that happens off the ice! :D
For those of you looking to make the trek north, pray for Hartford. Easy rink to get to, nice sightlines, reasonable parking (considering it is metro new york) and many more seats. Plus it won't sell out. However, bring the checkbook because Hartford tix are some of the most expensive in the east (that metro NY thing again). If you can get them ahead I think they are a dollar or two cheaper.
Forget Manchester, that place will sell out no matter who they play. Not a real easy rink to get to, fans are *unusual* and if it is a cold night out, there is no lobby to wait inside with/for (?).
So go boys, open the can of whupass on out-of-the-playoffs Albany.

I had my ears particularly perked up listening to the 'Norfolk Brawl'- since I was there like many/most of you - it was interesting to listen to the broadcast as opposed to watching the horror unfold.  Now, 4 months later, it still gave me a pang in my stomach to listen to it, but I can slightly chuckle at the spectacle of it all.............

boy I was stymied yesterday and could not get on the boards! Guine... you are not a jinx! Trust me, I have magical powers too and if they don't blow it when I go to a game, it is a blessing!
I heard some of the 2nd period intermission but turned it off becuase I had to do other things. 3 hour difference is a killer for sure.
I am HOPING that the boys do not come out flat against Hartford or they will be flattened. Hartford is a team of redwoods. Big strong, physical, grinding let alone the best goalie tandem in the league. Even those guys are freakin redwoods.
However I believe two of the *goony* redwoods are out in Grenier and Gillies. GIllies is out for the series (8 games for some dumbass thing he probably did) and I think Grenier injured his hand and got a boatload of pen minutes in a recent game. Not goal scoring threats for sure, but a presence on the ice and they do tend to rough up our forwards, particularly Staal since he is a star.
It is super important that the boys let Hartford know early that they will not be pushed around. For those of you who are going to the game, have a great time. If you are rinkrat, the people you will see around that rink will amaze you (old players, scouts, GM's from other teams/orgs, agents). And they all sit along the concourse, super accessible. So it is not always the game on the ice, it can also be the characters at the rink!

Anyone else see some irony in the fact that Carolina's farm team is playing HARTFORD in the playoffs? Maybe it's just me.

Wonder if all the Canes "property" have noticed the Whalers banners still up in the Civic Center while playing their game.

Any of the Canes "property" that is now in Lowell and has ever worn a Canes uniform was a teen when the move was made to Raleigh and the name changed to the Hurricanes.
Doesn't seem like it would be of any significance for those kids.

Some might, who have played on the team and played with Wesley, O'Neill, and Francis. They could have heard stories about the old Whaler days.
Sorry about the term "property," the correct word escaped me.

No problem using "property", it certainly applies here. I was just using the same terminology.
I didn't mean to suggest that they'd never heard stories of the Whalers or understand that the franchise used to be in Hartford, merely that there was no real significance as it might be for some of the guys (like the ones you list) that played in Hartford themselves.
