The meetings next week may be a glimmer of hope that we could see our boys on the ice this year. Do you think it will happen?

I decided to take a leap of faith on this one.
Please, O merciful and just hockey gods, let there be a season.

Signs point to no.
I'd bet it's more of a dog & pony show to show people that "hey, we're trying"... after taking the last 2.5 months off....
I'm quite shocked that the votes are 5-2 in favor of having a season. hope nobody gets too hurt. ;)

Hopefully you and I are just too cynical because I was the other "no" vote LOL.
With all the legal mumbo jumbo that has to follow an agreement, I am worried that there just isn't enough time left to get everything done

lol, that's funny.
yeah, I think for it to work, there'd have to be almost no negotiating time between the showing of the offer, and the acceptance of it.
remember, roughly 30 days of legalities to iron everything out once terms are agreed upon.
I'll cross my fingers. but as far as hopeful... just can't do it.

I just decided to be an optimist today, lol. I'm hoping this phase of optimisim will last for another 9 days at least...
Then I'm willing to go back to being a pissed off fan.

like guyute said it would have to be right away with these stupid 45 day rolling cancelations.
I to am feeling quite optimistic ;)

Optimism/Pessimism aside, if they came up with a deal, I'm CERTAIN they'd snatch those dates back from the arenas (haven't there been just a handful of RBC dates that go used for other events) and they'd reschedule the few dates that ended up with conflicts.

I'm the other "no" vote so far. Had there been a "no way in hell" choice I'd have picked that one.
So, you guys think the PA and Goodenow are greedy as hell but somehow they've now made a proposal that's just perfect and the NHL will love it and off we go? Guys, seriously, you're gonna be sooo upset when this doesn't work.
But then, I was wrong that they weren't stupid enough to have a lockout to begin with.....let's just hope I'm wrong again!

Put me down as the fourth cynic! I can't imagine this proprosal will be radically different; they just get to say "See, we tried" I would love to be wrong though. :D

yeah, but realize that Most arenas aren't in the same boat. Quite a few have stuff going on constantly when there's not ice on the floor. The RBC has so FEW events, if hockey doesn't come back, that arena is in trouble.

"No" :sad:
I just don't see the PA changing it's position radically enough for the owners to be able to accept it. There will be no hockey this year.

Unless something huge has happened, how is there any way that the two sides are magically going to agree? In fact, if we even have a season next year, I'd be really amazed. If they're willing to sacrifice one season, then they're willing to do anything.
But that's just me, and I could be totally wrong.
