Okay, so last night/this morning I spent 10 hours camping out with 100 other people at the New North Hills Chik-fil-A, because the first 100 people in line got 52 (that's right, 52) coupons for a FREE chicken sandwhich combo. Basically I don't have to pay Chik-fil-A this year if I want to eat there.

It was SO much fun, though. I saw a ton of people I knew, and there were games of twister, raffles, 'chubby bunny', and hot chocolate (and of course, chicken nuggets). We were all in sleeping bags and tents, and at 2:30am when the 100th person rolled in, of course everyone had to get up and go check in to make sure that everyone was accounted for. I think I got 45 minutes of sleep, and it was about 17 degrees outside. But it was SO worth it! Hah!

See what happens when you're young? :D You get to do stuff cause you're not afraid of parts falling off or freezing up. Whatever will you do with 52 chik-filet sandwiches.

In the spirit of the season, how about take them to a homeless shelter?

I love Chik-fil-A but I can't imagine eating 52 in a year. My arteries are clogging just thinking of it.

It was so beautiful last night. I wanted to sleep outside in our backyard just because I miss winter camping in Boone but Mr SHC chickened out....the loser. ;)

SHC - what a nice thought. OT here, but I will be baking holiday breads this weekend and you inspired me to bake some extra for a shelter. Any suggestions on where to take home baked goodies?

Tommy - sounds like you guys had fun last night...glad you stuck it out and enjoyed it! I didn't know about it, but if I had and it was a weekend, I would have been there! Guess they do it during the week for a reson :D

I passed that area this morning and waved to the Chik-fil-a cow at the corner of Six Forks and Lassiter Mill, lol. Yes, I actually waved to a person in a cow costume. They just looked like such a perky cow.

In all honesty, SHC, I can't imagine I'll use more than 4 or 5 of them for myself. A homeless shelter's a good idea. I'm volunteering at the South Wilmington St. Men's Shelter on Saturday, maybe they'll take them.

I mostly just did this for the memories. lol.

haha my little neighbors are so scared of the cow... it was like 2 years ago they went with their dad, and he came home with two screaming kids, vowing to never take them anywhere again. so his wife was saying see what happens while your at work?

Good for you for volunteering.. and good for you for making those memories.. trust me.. you will be very glad you have them to look back on.. ;) When my sister was at State, I remember several nights sleeping out for tickets at Reynolds and being jarred awake by the train coming through.. and it was probably 17 some nights out there.. but I wouldn't trade those memories for anything! :D

I know some places in Harnett County that might but no clue on Wake. Tommy's South Wilmington St Men's Shelter might work!

We used to always go cook dinner at one of the smaller shelters in Boone at lest once in the weeks around the holidays. It's always a wonderful experience.

LMAO, E. Mr SHC is always so fascinated by the people wearing goofy costumes and standing on the corner somewhere waving. Maybe he'll get a job doing that after I'm out of school! ;) I always wave at them...they're just too hilarious!

Friday all Triangle Chick-Fil-A stores wre giving away free Chik-n-Mini sandwiches. They had the opposite of the desired effect on me than they were probably looking for. They are basically 3 chicken nuggets on 3 tiny buns. I would maybe pay $1.00 for them, but no more than that. I had actually gone in the store to buy them.
