It is that time of year...anyone want to share their plans and make all the ones staying at home for now envious?? ;)
I plan a few days in Williamsburg in May..and maybe a weekend beach trip here and there.

The kids are off to Cape Cod with their grandparents for the summer, so I'm having a vacation just by being home :D Hubby going to family reunion up north but once again home.....illness sucked up any vacation time I had...but it will be quiet around the house and I kind of like the break. Boring me....huh ?

I got one that might do the trick.
Shell and I are going to the Caymans in exactly one month. http://www.tridead.net/canes/images/smilies/ban_dance.gifhttp://www.tridead.net/canes/images/smilies/multi.gifhttp://www.tridead.net/canes/images/smilies/ban_dance.gif
for a full week of diving, (2nd best dive location in the world, only 2nd to the Great Barrier Reef), swimming with stingrays, lounging in the tropical sun on 7 mile beach (of white sand), sipping very very heavily liquored drinks. :D
one month. *drool*

extra long Memorial Day weekend as usual. for many years, 5 friends from college and I meet at different places for Girls' Weekend. No spouses, boyfriends or children. It is always fabulous! This year it's the mountains.
Last year I went a day late due to a playoff game and would gladly have done it again this year! Other than that, long weekends once in a while. I am more a fall and winter vacation person.

Well, my family and I were considering going to Williamsburg, VA this spring. But, due to home improvements and a few other expenses, my folks are now considering a weekend at Fearington Village outside of Pittsboro while my brother and I hold down the fort.
(sighs) And I *really* wanted to go to Busch Gardens too...

Well yes BatesB, but there's one slight problem...I'm staying home. But, that's actually fine with me because there's a ton more to do at home, though I do like the scenery out at Fearington when my family and I have passed through a couple of times.

Well, technically no vacation but we are going to London, Ontario because I have a 2-day class there in June. We're making it a 5-day weekend so we'll try to take in Toronto and Niagra Falls as well. (Hope SARS has cleared up by then  )
Then I may get to go to Kansas City for a week in July for a convention.
We're saving the cash for a possible jaunt to Ireland in December since I'm jonesing for it so bad.

Oooooo, Chickie, Ireland! I wish I could go. I haven't been back in so long ~ I had made tenative plans to go with a few people in my ceilidh group in June, but I don't have the funds for it right now. They asked me if I wanted to play in a street festival in Cork ~ that would've been awesome. :|
Send us a postcard ( and Bono, if you can fit him in a standard size mailer ). ;)

Leaving for Florida tomorrow. All of my family is there but I'm considering it a vacation (may pick up some Tampa Bay Lightning SE division stuff while I'm there).
Going to Epcot, and either a Gambling Cruise ship or Key West. Hopefully, lots of fun in the sun!!

I'm late to this thread.....due to a vacation. Imagine that.
Beach trip for 4 days. Besides the oodles and oodles of people, it was a fun trip. Real nice weather....sunny and warm for the majority of the time. :smoke:
This summer? My dad and I had talked about a grand Canadian roadtrip in our Explorer~going up on 95 toward Toronto, then west toward Alaska. We'd take our time and once to Alaska we'd decide if we'd drive on up to Barrow or not. It would be such a sweet trip........but It'll never happen
Could be going to Edmonton in January, though.

Having already spent vacation money to take the family to Carolina games in Boston and Buffalo, we'll be staying close to home this summer. Boston was a great mini-vacation since we also visited Plymouth. Very educational for kids (and me since it's something I need to teach) and we loved it.
The concept only a 5 year old Hurricane fan would struggle with: No, Cole's Hill (where the pilgrims secretly burried their dead the first winter) was NOT named for Erik Cole.
Both trips were well worth the sacrifice.Fortunately, there is a lot to do for day trips to keep busy - Cooperstown, Niagara Falls, Adirondacks.

Just returned from 5 days enjoying the sugar white beaches of the Florida Panhandle.
A week at the beach in a house with my husbands family ( ) in July.
Hoping to work out an October vacation in Florida, maybe see a Lightning game, visit family, and hit some theme parks. Anyway, some sort of October vacation.

Yup, my doors are open to her, and can't wait to meet her, HOWEVER, she will be frisked before she leaves, as there will be no "liberating" of any of my Hurri-Den.
I made a voyage into the Valley of SARS (Toronto) on the 25th, and there was no MASSIVE panic or droves of people walking about with surgical masks on. So, I hope none of you have no apprehension about venturing up here.
I was there for business, but had time and took in the Sports Card and Memorabilia Spring Expo. I bolstered my Ron Francis jersey card collection to now 21 cards, and actually had a pair of his gloves on and held one of his sticks! That's the reason for the extra security in my Hurri-Den.
I have no plans for a vacation, as my wife and i are hoping to use our vacation time to move into a new house. The one we have now is getting a little small, and after 5 years, it's time to upgrade. So, no vacation trips for me, well, unless we hit the lottery (ah, to dream, eh?)

I am going to Nashville in 3 weeks for my annual Girls' Weekend. There is a group of girls from college that get together every year in May for a long weekend. No spouses or children. It is great fun. None of us have been to Nashville so that's our destination this year, not that it matters where we go. It's always fun.
No other definite plans until early December. Some friends and I are going to Nantucket for the annual Christmas Stroll. Never been, but it sounds like fun. Just hope there aren't too many hockey games scheduled in those 3 days!

My vacation plans for this year center around my brother's wedding. Weekend of June 10th we're off to NY for his Bach. Party...gonna catch a Yankee's game and then some quiet evenings in with the guys ;) Might also get to a Conan Obrien taping...who knows. Then the wedding in July, I'm off to the magical and fun filled town of Waverly, Iowa. I'll be there for an event filled week of cow milking, artificial insemination of cows, and whatching corn grow!(his fiance's family has a dairy farm). Wooooooohoooo! Seriously though the wedding should be a blast.

I ain't doing anything!!!! I'm boring and a workaholic! LOL...actuallyyyyy...I do have a handful of mini getaways planned...
In August, me and my family will probably be headed to Michgan's Adventure, and amusement park owned by Cedar Point, and that's in Muskegon. Also, we're planning our yearly trip to Cedar Point, the mother of ALL amusement parks, in August as well. 3 of us go, and then one person stays home to look after the pets...we're protective like that, not going for kennels and all.
Thennn...probably LATE August, or I dunno, maybe we'll move this one up sooner and shoot for June or July, we're going to our also yearly trip to Point Pelee, Ontario. I love that place and we usually stop by the Devonshire Mall in Toronto (I'm pretty sure that's where it is lol I never drive but this year I am to all three lol) so it's a pretty rad summer. lol thenwe have all the usual park and beach trips, so I guess my summer isn't all THAT boring..... :smoke: All of everyone else's sound awesome though, I'm envious here! *longs for tropical vacation, but even more, a vacay down there in NC! But that waits for hockey season lol*

We just got home from a day at Merlefest and then I'll apparently be spending the rest of my summer with ONeillsNo1Fan!! (working, I mean)
I do hope to find some long weekend somewhere in there to go someplace......I'm thinking maybe Las Vegas or we've talked about trying to hit a playoff game somewhere (but the $1200 ebay tix turn me off). We'll see. And, I'm STILL hoping for a December trip to Ireland. Last year we went to Wrightsville Beach and I really don't think Ireland would cost much more than we spent there, lol.

I just got home from five days at beautiful lake Gaston. I am fortunate
that my cousin has a house right on the water!!
now for next week. I am going out to Calif. to go see my son graduate
from high school. If things would of worked out as I had planned, he
would be graduating from Leesville High in Raleigh.....but I guess it wasn't
meant to be. Anyway! I can't believe my baby is almost done with
high school. 18 years goes by very fast!!
I remember thinking wow, class of 2004. It seemed so far away...........

I'm back and had a great time. California is not getting the heat wave we
have been having. The weather was perfect and my son has passed his
first milestone. (or is graduating from preschool and Jr High, milestones?)
anyway, I thought it was pretty cool that they played *Miracle* on the
plane on the way home.
When I go out there, I love to rent cars that are just coming out. This
time I got a Chrysler 300C. Nice car even though it reminded me of a
pimp mobile. :)

I just got back from sunny dry arizona smack in the middle of summer. I love going there in summer when most of the tourists stay away from the 105-110 degree heat of the desert. Only time of the year you see flowers growing out the tops of the saguaro cacti (only lasts less than 2 weeks) Great time, and I love not sweating in the dry heat. Went to the grand canyon with the little ones (but was nervous as heck watching over the toddlers... there's very little protection keeping them from falling over the edge) and I didn't find Joe dirt. (I mean Joseph Dirte') :)
Favorite part of the trip was sitting by the pool with the wife and kids and hearing them scream while having fun. Also the fact that Southwest has a direct flight to arizona from Raleigh nonstop for less than 130 round trip. Worst part of the trip was this fool art dealer from scottsdale trying to sell me a Joan Miro' poster for 24 grand. Am I a fool? I'd rather buy a 61 grand basketball card or a punky eric staal puck. I planned the trip specifically to be back in time for the draft, which was mucho importante so I can buy some stinky canes used equipment.

Well, I'll be off to Iowa, the land of corn, for a few days to see the family. We have to get a pretty early start tomorrow morning, but I'm pretty geeked up about going. Though Iowa isn't exactly an exciting place, it's always good to see the family.
So now my unexplained absence is explained.
Peace out, y'all!

Where in Iowa? I'm off to Waverly for a wedding next week. I've never been to Iowa so I'm kinda stoked, even though I'd rather be going to a more exciting state or country.

Well, I went to Hawaii the last week in January, so for now there aren't any plans.
I'd love to travel to Europe this summer if someone would like to give me some cash, though. :D
