Everyone,

We will be moving to a new host in the very near future. We will also be upgrading to UltimateBB as our messageboard software.

If anyone has any suggestions as to other software that may be better, or web hosts, let me know and I will look into them.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I am going to do everything I can to make sure this does not happen again.

It's just much more polished.

I got your message about that error, I'm working on it. ;)

Awesome, boss, awesome! :-)

I too wonder about the difference between this and ultimate...does this mean we'll be starting all over again?

I don't think so. From what I've been looking at it would import the database from phpBB to that...

I don't want to start all over again, AGAIN!

Clarification - vBulletin is what I was thinking of when I wrote UltimateBB. I've been looking at both... ;)

i hope we dont have to start all over!

vBulletin is nice. i like the sub forum idea. like have a game day sub forum in Canes forum. keeps all of those seprate so other articles dont get pushed down too fast.

im not too sure about how the user name and avatar box goes acoss the top instead of staying nice and on the side. i could get used to it though.

If UltimateBB/vBulletin is the one I'm thinking of, it is a *really* good MB system.

I too hope we don't have to start over...other than that, I'm very much all for the move. Keep up the great work, Caniac! :)

I know very little of UBB, but I've used vBulletin for years on a HUGE site (50k members), and from an admin/mod persepective, vB is head and shoulders above phpBB. much more control.

unfortunately, it costs dinero, whereas phpbb does not.

Yea, if it's worth it, I'm sure the community here wouldn't mind contributing for a better experience (If memory serves me right, we did that once before to get a new server or something...though I never got my act together and sent in anything  ) We are the best of the best and want to stay that way.

Okay I purchased a new account on a much more reliable (or so I've been told by 3rd parties) webserver.

We should be good to go in the next several days, assuming I can get the DNS issues straightened out. ;)

Smooth sailing is in our future.

I'll keep you guys updated on vBulletin.

:)

Right now I'm not looking for donations. I appreciate the offer(s) though.

A lot of people donated for increased bandwidth a year or so ago and although the bandwidth cap was raised, the uptime of the server was much more of an issue. I feel like those of you who donated did not get your money's worth and deserve better.

The new host is going to solve both bandwidth and uptime issues and will get LGC's users the service they deserve. :)

I will be looking seriously at going to vBulletin in the next couple of months. Should I decide to do it, I'll let everyone know, and those who would like to donate to the site may do so.

I just won't be actively soliciting donations.
