From today's N&O:
Rutherford said he's making progress toward re-signing goalie Patrick DesRochers and veteran forward Jeff Daniels...Daniels has signed three straight one-year, $275,000 contracts late in August, but the 34-year-old role player could be one of the first players signed this summer.

Personally, I'm glad they are re-signing Daniels again. I know some would rather see a Baby Cane there, but I think he is a great deal for the money. It will make training camp that much more interesting.

You're not the only one Vandy...of the veteran Canes, Daniels was one of the hardest working ones last season besides the Adams', Ronnie, O, and Hilly. I've agreed with some here if there was anyone who truly deserved to wear the A this past season, it was JD. Hope JR gets ze task of signing him done...

Here's to hoping JD does re-sign, although I also hope JR will recognize his value with somewhat of a pay increase. Must be tough being a veteran on this team, yet be the lowest paid.

not only is he dependable and gets the job done on the ice, but he's super to the fans as well. i don't think there has ever been a time where he wasn't willing to sign autographs and talk to fans. http://www.electrichyena.com/other/redthumb.gif
