I continue to notice that players and the owners have not moved off their positions regarding the lockout... but if there's no collective bargaining agreement, I understand that there will not be a draft this year. Not wanting to have another thread about the lockout, I want to have a discussion about the pros and cons about the draft as we have known it with primarily 18 year old players as opposed to one with primarily 19 year old players (which I suppose would be the evolution of the draft if no season occurs this year). Would the extra year of seasoning be a benefit to all clubs in the development of players- especially goaltenders and defensemen, that take longer to develop, anyway. Or is my understanding wrong? Anyone want to take a stab at this?
