Airport reunion for our boys

If anyone is interested, Section126 from the Canes homepage forum mentioned the idea of all us caniacs gathering together at RDU for a sort of "welcome back our guys at the airport" reunion. I had a blast all the times i went last year and it truly became a welcome event to the players.

So far, more people seem to think it would be a great idea to gather there after their last away game which i believe is April 4th.

Anyway, I think it would be great for our guys to see us all there. Let me know what you think!

Near the observation deck..i believe it's near the general aviation area. as far as the time....people start gathering there about an hour after the game ends. they usually show up about 2 hours or less after the game ends.

If you follow the signs to the observation deck or park and ride 4 you will see the terminal with the Fedex jets. Park in the lot on the right side of the hanger. The jet comes in and the guys get off just over the fence.

I'd love to join you guys and gals, but there's the matter of permission from my folks, and transportation. Oh well...next season, I'll definitely be able to join up for a few airport welcomings. :spin:

When I flew into Orlando a few weeks ago, it was an hour and a half flight. I'll definitely get there before 1 or 2, sure would suck to miss them!!

The last time I went to airport they had a guard in the tunnel with a rifle..I just rolled down my window and he looked at me and waved me through...hopefully there won't be any problem...maybe we should all wear Hurricane shirts?? ..and the time before, a guard escorted me to the hanger..he was cool with us being there.. :spin:

So, I just called RDU Authority and they said that we would be allowed to park where we did last year, but the parking area is not expanded like it was last year during the playoffs

You come in past Terminal C..and then turn to the right towards the big tower...follow the road around to the left..and then you have to circle back... It is called the Millionaire's Lot where their jet comes in.. it is hard to know road names cause it is always dark and late when I have been there...I am sure you will be riding with more Caniacs and can follow them...can someone offer better directions??

for all of you that were there..great to see you guys!! :) and for those that couldn't make it...it was a pretty good crowd..the guys didn't get back until around 12:30..maybe a little later.. we got some smiles and waves..and Irbe and Weeksey were walking side by side..so we started to chant Irbe....Weekes...Irbe...Weekes...we got a wave from Archie..and big smiles from both.. O waved to us..and some of the Baby Canes looked at us like we were all crazy..and we are!! ;) :p

Bret took the time to have a picture taken with batesb..and I know her and her mom will NEVER be the same..her mom got a hug.. :spin: I told Bret that we loved him and the guys..and he said we love you too...and really appreciate your support!! What a great guy!! :D

Sunday should be very emotional..at least for all of us that are already suffering from withdrawals and wondering if it is September yet! :cry: :sad:

The airport was great! I'm SO glad I went....especially since I almost chickened out. Great to see everyone there! They seemed to be pretty happy to see someone there and the feeling overall was very upbeat. Nccanes counted once and at that time there were 31 people there....not too bad!

Maybe our little extra effort will inspire them to give a little extra effort and get us a win on Sunday!

i had a good time last night (this morning, haha). i was pleased at the turnout, too. we had a heck of a time finding our way out of there though -- we got lost...finally we ended up coming out on 540 somehow (hey, I wasn't driving.) ;) it was definitely worth it -- if only to see bret stop his car and walk straight over to batesb for a picture! :spin:
