You think so? I've seen Dallas commit quite a few penalties that are going un-called and quite a few of them have been nasty....that lovely head-butt springs to mind. And Modano's dive was so obviously a cheat-to-win thing.

Niclas Havelid made it clear early that there were to be no more shenanigans with Giguere. Less than a minute into the game, Giguere made a save and Morrow swooped in to chip at him. Before he could raise his stick, Havelid cross-checked him to the ice.
"That was nice to see," said Giguere, who stopped 26 of 29 shots. "Their game plan was to try to get in my kitchen again."

That was really one hell of a hockey game. I definitely noticed that the Stars players were trying to get at Giguere again, one of the players even gave him a nice little ice shower in the face after he made a save there at one point. But the ultimate justice was the disallowed goal. Sure, it's a stupid, stupid rule, but when you disallow a Ducks goal in the third OT that happened the same way, you just have to disallow a third period goal for the Stars. Do I think the rule should be changed in the offseason? Of course. Both of those are goals. And I dunno, maybe it's just me (though Melrose of all people seemed to agree iwth me on NHL2Night) but it really looked like the Stars player made a distinct kicking motion to me.... His foot wasn't in the path of the puck it seems to me that he didn't just re-direct it but instead waited for the puck to get in front of his skate and then kicked it forward. Of course it didn't end up mattering anywhere thanks to Ozo.
He's really been awesome for the Ducks. I remember right after they got him from the Panthers, the Ducks GM Murray was explaining to Disney that they should not get the impression that this would make them into a contender for the cup overnight but that it would make them a better team. Well that acquisition, along with Thomas, Neidermayer, etc. has actually turned the Ducks into a legitimate cup contender! Insane! But great.
Stars certainly did get away with quite a bit though last night, that headbutt stuck out most glaringly but it doesn't matter at all though.
GO DUCKS!

Here's a letter from ESPN.com, which is funny, and slightly thought-provoking...
John,
In the first Mighty Ducks movie, the Ducks, coached by rookie coach Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez) met a few players from the Minnesota North Stars and spent a few hours playing around on their ice. Mike Modano even made a small appearance in this film. Now in real life the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are on the verge of eliminating the Dallas Stars, who were once the team that the Ducks met in the film. Are the Stars doomed to be slain by a team that they played a small part in creating? Those kids just grow up so fast.

Meet Disney's new Cinderellas
UnderDucks more like WonderDucks as they knock off favoured Stars
By DAN BARNES
The Edmonton Journal
ANAHEIM, Calif.
In Dallas, the Stars dished it out, Anaheim's smaller forwards couldn't take it and pressed Duck went down easily in Game 5.
But at home, where these Ducks a L'Orange County seem to grow bigger and faster, they were out to leave a bitter taste in the mouths of the heavily favoured Stars.
Mission accomplished. The Stars are done like dinner. And they are indeed bitter after a bizarre third-period series of goals, video reviews, a disallowed goal and gut-wrenching momentum shifts left them in a crumpled heap, 4-3 losers in Game 6 and 4-2 losers in the Western Conference semifinal series.
With 66 seconds left in a nailbiter that darted back and forth all night at sold out Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim defenceman Sandis Ozolinsh deposited the third-period series-clincher into the Dallas net on a cross-ice feed from Anaheim hero Mike Leclerc, who figured in three of their four game-winners in the series.
"I wish we could have saved our nerves and won it easier," said Ozolinsh.
"It was a roller-coaster ride in the third for sure," added Ducks captain Paul Kariya. "But we don't care how we do it as long as we do it."
All four Anaheim wins were one-goal affairs, two of them in overtime. You can't cut it any closer and this one was a prime example. It was tied 2-2 after 40 minutes and then all heck broke loose in the final frame. Anaheim went ahead on a Ruslan Salei goal, but the Stars answered with a Stu Barnes tying goal, or so they thought. They lost that one to video review. "That's frustrating. Really frustrating," Barnes said.
Then Morrow scored to tie it.
They went to review again, but that one stuck. Overtime was almost a certainty, given how close the teams seemed to be.
Then the wheels fell off for the final time in the last two minutes. The Stars had been under siege for an entire shift, unable to clear the zone, even with Mike Modano and Derian Hatcher on the ice. Ozolinsh got open and Leclerc found him.
"It's just the way our playoffs have been," said Steve Rucchin.
"We find ways to persevere. I don't know how many one-goal games that is but it speaks volumes about the guys in here. We stick with the plan.
"That had to have taken more of a toll on the Stars. They did a great job coming back but this has been the story of our playoffs. We haven't let things bother us. We find a way to win."
When the dust settled, the Ducks had ridden a gutsy three-point effort from winger Steve Thomas and solid 26-save goaltending again from Jean-Sebastien Giguere into the third round of the NHLplayoffs.
"I think personally the best team won," said Giguere. "We deserve to be here, no doubt about that. I thought we battled really well."
They were pushed to the limit of this game but not the series, although it looked early as if Dallas might get the edge to force Game 7. Kirk Muller snuck away from Adam Oates, stood alone in front of Giguere's crease and Niko Kapanen wired a pass to his stick. Before Giguere could move, it was behind him and the Stars were in front.
The 2-0 goal that came in Dallas did not materialize here.
Giguere made a couple of all-world stops on Hatcher and Jere Lehtinen to keep his team in it and then the power play worked.
With Bill Guerin off for a dumb slashing penalty, Sergei Zubov blew a perfect opportunity to clear the zone, the Ducks pounced and Thomas ripped a cross-ice feed from Ozolinsh through a falling Marty Turco.
The Stars goalie was prostrate again just under two minutes later when two wacky bounces produced Stanislav Chistov's top shelfer. The Ducks led, the place went wild and Dallas reeled. But they couldn't drive the nail in.
Kapanen continued his amazing run. His fourth goal tied the game.
Ruslan Salei scored the 3-2 go-ahead goal early in the third and then the madness began.
"We definitely have fallen short," said Hatcher. "It's a difficult feeling when you're expecting to play into June."

Lesson well learned
Earlier in his career, the Mighty Ducks' Ozolinsh passed up a chance similar to Monday's winner.
By DAN WOOD
The Orange County Register
ANAHEIM – With the puck on his stick, in prime scoring territory, Sandis Ozolinsh had a chance to end Game 6 of the second-round Stanley Cup playoff series and, in the process, lift his underdog team into the NHL Western Conference finals.
One of the league's more prolific offensive defensemen, Ozolinsh pondered the moment and made a split-second decision. Instead of shooting, he passed to an out-of-position teammate. There was no shot, no goal, and no victory, in Game 6 or Game 7.
Suddenly, the season was over.
Fortunately for the Mighty Ducks, that nightmare occurred at another time, in another place. Nine years later, Monday night at Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, Ozolinsh buried a similar opportunity, converting a point-blank rebound 18:54 into the third period, to boost the Ducks past the Dallas Stars, 4-3, and into the conference finals for the first time in the club's 10-year history.
The parallels were inescapable.
Before leading all NHL defensemen with 19 points, including five goals, in 22 playoff games to help the Colorado Avalanche capture the 1996 Stanley Cup championship, Ozolinsh was in his second NHL season, with the San Jose Sharks, in 1994.
Just as the Ducks did this season, the Sharks had stunned the powerful Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs and owned a 3-2 series lead in the conference semifinals, against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With Game 6 having gone to overtime, veteran Sharks center Igor Larionov made a nice play to get the puck to Ozolinsh in the low slot. While only Maple Leafs goaltender Felix Potvin between him and the goal line, Ozolinsh inexplicably passed back to Larionov, who by that time had skated on toward the side of the net, and had no angle to shoot.
San Jose missed another glorious opportunity to win when a Johan Garpenlov shot rang off the crossbar. Still, after Toronto's Mike Gartner eventually scored the winner, Ozolinsh blamed himself. He led a desperate game of hide-and-seek through the hallways at old Maple Leaf Gardens before finally facing reporters.
"It almost seemed that I lost the series," Ozolinsh said Tuesday, flinching at the memory. "I was killing myself. I didn't want to talk to the media at all. I was very young at the time."
If Ozolinsh, 30, needed redemption, he gained it long ago, scoring an overtime goal in the second-round, series-clincher against the Chicago Blackhawks during Colorado's 1996 championship run. Ducks general manager Bryan Murray was seeking exactly that type of big-play ability when he landed Ozolinsh in a Jan. 30 trade with the Florida Panthers.
"Adding him was huge," Murray said, remembering his days as Florida's general manager, when the Avalanche swept the Panthers in the 1996 Stanley Cup Finals.
"He beat us," Murray said. "He was as important as any player on their team. When you see this guy play over a period of years, you know darn well he can bring a lot to the table."
Even before burying the rebound of a Mike Leclerc shot to effectively eliminate Dallas, Ozolinsh had come up big against the Stars. His brilliant cross-ice pass late in the third period set up Leclerc's power-play strike in a 1-0, Game 4 victory, and Ozolinsh similarly assisted on Steve Thomas' power-play goal early in the second period Monday.
"If it wasn't for Sandis in this series, who knows where we'd be?" Ducks center Steve Rucchin said. "To say I'd like to see him down in front of the net with a minute left in the third period of a tie game, probably not, but he's made a living doing that and knowing where to be in the right situation."
Long known as a high-risk, high-return commodity, Ozolinsh has proved to be as reliable defensively as anyone since he joined the Ducks. Ozolinsh tied for the team lead with a plus-10 mark in 31 regular-season games, and shares the same distinction with a plus-6 playoff figure.
Still, his daring style can raise heart rates, as it did Monday.
"You could just see him going in, and you kind of say 'What are you doing? Don't get caught,'" Murray said. "And then he puts the puck in the net. He's an instinctive guy with great ability."
With a goal by left wing Brenden Morrow having pulled Dallas even more than four minutes earlier, Ozolinsh was thinking of neither the past nor the future when he saw Leclerc drive the net, around Stars defenseman Richard Matvichuk, and flip a shot at goalie Marty Turco.
"After they scored that tying goal, it was already overtime," Ozolinsh said. "I would have jumped into the play in overtime anyway, so I just did it."

Kjellberg leaves Ducks
Canadian Press
5/7/2003
ANAHEIM, Calif. (CP-AP) - The Anaheim Mighty Ducks' unlikely playoff run will have to continue without forward Patric Kjellberg.
The 33-year-old right-winger left the team Wednesday for unspecified family reasons.
Asked if he thought Kjellberg would be back this season, Mighty Ducks coach Mike Babcock said, ``I don't think so.
``I'm sure it was a tough decision for him.''
Kjellberg appeared in all 10 of Anaheim's playoff games, recording no points and six shots while averaging 10 minutes 30 seconds of playing time per game.
The Mighty Ducks swept the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings in the first round before beating the Dallas Stars in six games. Anaheim opens its third-round series at either Vancouver or Minnesota on Saturday.
Kjellberg has been used primarily as a penalty killer this year. He played in 76 games and had 19 points, including eight goals, during the regular season.
Anaheim acquired the five-year NHL veteran from Nashville in 2001 for Petr Tenkrat. Kjellberg will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Kjellberg is not the first player to leave his team during these playoff.
In the first round, veteran forward Shayne Corson left the Toronto Maple Leafs for personal health reasons.

not a huge loss for the Ducks, but for Kjellberg, that must've been a horrible decision to make. Waiting for your WCF opponent, and decide to leave.
Hope his family is ok.

Babcock says rules changes needed
The Ducks coach says goal controversies like in Game 6 could be easily avoided.
By DAN WOOD
The Orange County Register
ANAHEIM – Mighty Ducks coach Mike Babcock called for NHL rule changes in the wake of two disputed video-review verdicts during Monday night's 4-3 Ducks victory over the Dallas Stars in decisive Game 6 of a second-round Stanley Cup playoff series.
Dallas lost an apparent third-period score by Stu Barnes when replay officials determined that the goal had briefly come off its moorings before the puck entered the net. The Ducks were the victims of a similar ruling in Game 1 of the series, when video review negated an apparent goal by Steve Thomas in the third overtime.
Left wing Brenden Morrow scored to pull the Stars into a 3-3 tie at 14:49 of the third period Monday, even though it appeared he had directed the puck into the net with a distinct kicking motion, which is against current rules.
"To me, the first one they scored, when the mooring comes up, that rule has to change," Babcock said. "That has to be a goal. The one where he (Morrow) kicked it in, I think you should be allowed to kick the puck in the net. I think that rule should be wiped out, and we wouldn't have any controversy about it."
Still, with the rules as written, the Ducks contend neither goal should have counted.
"If we had lost the game, there might have been a lengthy debate," Ducks general manager Bryan Murray said.
Just as they did in Game 1, when Petr Sykora eventually scored 48 seconds into the fifth overtime, the Ducks prevailed despite Monday's double dose of controversy.
"Once again, it worked out," Babcock said. "The team that won was supposed to win."
