OK, Yahoo is now set up so that we can sign-up.

Here are the settings I am picking for all leagues:

Autopick Draft
All managers will have the opportunity to go in and rank all of the players in the order that they would like them. Yahoo also has a pre-ranked set so if someone doesn't rank their players or just wants the default, Yahoo will automatically do that. Also, you do not have to rank every single player in the NHL, once you are done with the ones you care about, Yahoo can rank the rest automatically.

Maximum Teams in league: 12

No maximum player acquisitions

No maximum trades

Managers have 2 days to protest trades

Last date to trade a player is March 9, 2006

Players are on waivers for 2 days

They do have a new option on player trades. It used to be that just the commisioner could veto a trade. I am going with the new option which is League Votes- When you select the League Votes option, accepted trades can be overturned by a vote of at least 1/3 of the members of your league. All league member votes, including the one cast by the commissioner, count equally. Even if no protests are made, the trade will not be processed until the time allotted to protest pending trades in your league has elapsed.

After the draft, all unclaimed players will follow waiver rules so that everyone has an opportunity to try and pick them up.

For Rotisserie and Fantasy Point leagues, the maximum gamers played per position is 82

Roster Changes are allowed daily.

actually, point values aren't assigned on the Head to Head leagues.. it is just whoever has the better number wins that category.. so if overall, all of your players come out to a +2 than you would beat someone whose overall players came to a -1. Make sense?

Yep, I have set at 3. The reason why I really like it is because if you're playing someone and they get a shut-out the first night, they wouldn't play any more goalies and you'd have no chance. 4 would be tough!

There are retired and chronically injured (meaning Blackburn, etc.) players in the rankings, so I think you can set the auto-draft to go off whenever you want.

Edited to add: It says "Your auto draft will be completed between now and 11:59 PM PT on Wednesday, Oct 5" in our leagues right now. Man, this is going to be a long "Night before Christmas" wait.

I know Aayrn, I am very impatient as well. I just keep clicking to see if it has gone yet! I was surprised that it said by midnight on the 5th, cuz the rules say: Autopick Draft: Autopick drafts do not run at a scheduled time and cannot be viewed in-progress by league members. In a Custom League, autopick drafts are generally processed between one (1) and 48 hours after the commissioner sets the draft status to "Ready."
Bad enough making us wait, but they better not make us miss opening night too! I have done several leagues over several years though and it has never taken more than a day.

nope, since I do random draft, Yahoo doesn't assign the order until it starts doling out players.

Judging by the way my drafts have sorted so far, I'm pretty sure I'm the only person around LGC who bumped Lehtonen's ranking from 385 to 31.

once the draft happens you can see full draft results all on one page, which is nice... but yeah, sucks that they don't pre-assign the draft order like they used to.
In the old days, you used to know way in advance...
it helped A Lot. particularly if you find out you have #1, you can edit your prerankings to make damn sure you get who you want.
Now it's all done at once. bleh.

sidenote:
the H2H league was set to ready just before midnight last night (like around now)... and it was slightly after midnight when the draft for that league happened. so- set to ready on 9/30, draft on 10/1.
The other 2 leagues were set just after midnight last night... so officially, 10/1. I have a good feeling that sometime just after midnight, our other 2 leagues will draft. I hope. :)

I got hosed on one pick in a couple of leagues. I added "M. Hossa" to my pre-rankings... silly me... didn't know there was a Marcel Hossa.... who in the last played season had 1g 1a. /sigh.

oh well.. otherwise I'm pretty happy... and it wouldn't feel right if I didn't have a move to make right off the bat. lol

I did pretty well on goalies in all 3 of my leagues. Turco, Luongo, Roloson and Nitty to name a few. Also have Sakic twice, Chara twice, Lidstrom twice, Gagne twice, Kariya twice... think those are the big ones. I'm happy overall. ready for the season to get rollin' :D

yeah, I'm starting out fairly low too... but not going to be bothered 2 days in.

plus, something to keep in mind in the points leagues... where you have max games allowed at each position... some managers may have 200 points more than you... but, they may also run out of allowable games by January...

once you run out of games... you don't get to play those positions anymore. so pacing yourself is an art in those kinds of leagues. if you play all of your guys every single time they have a game... you might score more than me... but I'm eventually going to pass you. ;)

So where is the thing to click to see whos played how many games at what position. I can't seem to find what I remember looking at last season. I just recall something somewhere, that allowed you to see who's used how many games.

They changed it from last time.. now if you go into the Rotisserie or Fantasy Points league, click on My Team and on the bottom right is a section called "Other utitlities". Click on Maximum Games Played and it will show you how many you have played, how many you have left, and if you stay on the same track that you are, how many you will be under/over by.
You will probably need to turn off your popup blocker.

From what I can tell, they don't show you any where how many goalies you have played in H2H anymore :mad: I had to go back through every day to see if I got my 3 in since this is a short week.

That *almost* burned me the very first time I ever did fantasy hockey in 2002-03...I say "almost" because I did get second place. But I also got *very* lucky that most, if not all my team kept up their being good AND healthy. :D

Long time no talk fellow Caniacs! Just couldn't bring myself back here until hockey got underway. Can't believe the action on the Fantasy Hockey board already. I was hoping to get off to a good start after hoisting the 2003-04 LGC FHL Cup, but I think the new bargaining agreement messed my thinking/team up more than most NHL teams. I got whooped on this week. But don't worry folks, LETS GO CANES won't stay down for long (I hope).

I can not believe BigRedMonkeyHeads isn't playing...just won't be the same without battling him this year.

Is anyone else seeing that the entire league received NO POINTS for last night's games? I'm getting that for both LGC Rotisserie & LGC Fantasy Points. I also see this notice..... Live stats is just so that you can see the stats being updated as the points are happening.

well i am now up to 4th in fantasy points to compensate for sucking in head to head. i had three guys play, and i got 33.00 points in that league... legace and belfour combined for 80 saves and datsyuk had 2 goals (1 PP), a PP assist, and the game winning goal, and he was +2. Can't that happen every night?

In the menu where you can click on League, My Team, Standings, Players, etc., click on Players. That will show all available players. You can sort by clicking on the column heading and/or use the drop down boxes. The first drop down has a selection for Waivers Only if you just want to see the players that have been dropped. If you see a player you want, click the Add link. It will ask you which player you want to drop to get that player. Your guy will only be dropped if you get him. I always click the link for "Season" so I can see the stats. Check the box next to the player to drop and hit Continue. I will show you the two guys (one to add and one to drop). Click Add This Player.

I need Fantasy Help. I'm in a Yahoo league with friends/family. What in the world is going on with Elias? He was IR for his Hepatitis, then I thought he came back, now he's listed as NA. It says he may not ever be the same player again. Should I drop him? Wait until late November to see like it says? I can't even put him on IR the way he's listed, plus I have 2 others on IR - Nabokov and Federov.

Any advice is appreciated!
