Hoo boy.
Roy was never one to set SV% or GAA records in the first place. He won games. As far as the equipment goes, let's not forget that Roy won his first Cup and Conn Smythe in these:

What are the new rules going to do to the goalies trying to break his records?

Absolutely nothing.
The rules have changed for every goaltender in the league, and seeing as they are offense-oriented changes, league average GAAs and SV%s should go up. However, as I said before, Roy does not hold any significant save-based records.
To break Roy's records, you have to let in fewer goals than the other guy. That's all. Whether that means zero on 58 or eight on 27, if you allow fewer goals, you win the game. All the goalies are playing by the same rules, and they all have to do the same thing to win.
Roy won in the era of the run and gun Oilers, he won in the era of the fledgling trap, and he won in the era of smothering defense. A great goalie adapts to the game, even if he does so while kicking and screaming.

We'll have to see. I just think that it's odd that a goalie of Roy's stature would say that he is in favor or reducing the goalies equipment AFTER he's done playing. Especially considering the plus sized padding he was wearing while in goal for Colorado.
