We are very lucky to have such men on our team.

Kudos to Canes, Brind'Amour
I would like to offer my thanks to the Carolina Hurricanes, in particular, Rod Brind'Amour.

I have been a fan of the game and the league for more than 20 years and am now getting the opportunity to volunteer as a commentator for the televised home games of the Campbell River Storm, the five-time defending Van Isle Junior Hockey league.

Since we added the play-by-play, viewership has risen, so we wanted to give the people more. This is where Brind'Amour came in. He is the best player from this region to ever make the NHL.

Kyle Hanlon from Carolina's media department made the arrangements and Rod was extremely candid and accommodating during our phone interview. We at little CRTV in Campbell River, British Columbia, are very grateful to Carolina and Rod for making our hockey dreams come true and remembering that hockey isn't just about dollars and cents but about a game that we love.

Thank you for reading this letter. I just wanted to let the good folks of North Carolina know that there are people across North America that are rooting for the Canes, and the region is fortunate to have such a class organization representing it.

P.S. Keep your eye out for another great hockey product from our fair city. Carsen Germyn plays a key role for Coach Sutter and the top-ranked Red Deer Rebels.

We're blessed with classy players, folks. Many people wouldn't give the time of day to something that they wouldn't get paid for...I'm glad people in the hockey community recognize our players in such a way.

That is too cool...you just don't hear about a great majority of people on other teams and especially in other sports doing stuff and/or events like the Canes and other hockey players do. Thanks for sharing this TC. :)

but... no, you don't *hear* about a lot of other teams' players doing these things... probably because we don't get the city papers for the other teams. As someone who follows hockey as some people follow religion, and who reads papers from all over the country, I can tell you that the percentage of players in this league which do charity events, give time/money, etc... is VERY high.

Hockey players are the cream of the crop in sports. The Canes have some great ones... but there are a few others as well. ;)
