Last week I picked up a Kodak 4 MP Digital Camera. Today I got a Canon i470D Photo Printer. What a sweet Printer. I was printing 8x10's on an HP Deskjet printer and I thought those looked good. I now print boarderless 8.5x11 and they are unbelievable. I had narrowed my choices to an Epson or a Canon. After reading reviews and talking to the company reps at the Cary Best Buy I settled on a Canon i470D. What I love about the printer are as follows:

Very Quiet

Very Fast (boarderless 8.5X11 in 2 minutes or under.

Although I don't know if I will ever use this feature, it has memory card slots to print without a computer. It even has an input for the new memory cards which I saw on no other printer, and that is what my Kodak uses. (SD)

Ink is the cheapest on the market. Black ink is about $7.00 and color is about $18.00.

I have printed 10 8.5x11 pictures today and the ink level indicator has not gone down yet. (I do know I have used some ink though) The Canon man told me he thinks that you can get about 30 full size prints from the Color ink cartridge which is great!

Now back to the camera. I got the Kodak LS 443 for $400 after tax with a coupon at Office Max. I also got a 128 MB memory card valued at 69.99 and a SD/MMC card reader which just came available, that was thrown into the deal, but I really don't need it unless I use it at work. The camera comes with a camera dock for one touch transfers and it also charges the battery in the camera.

I have NEVER been a fan of Digital zoom, but this camera gets it right. Partly because this is a 4MP camera, and partly from new technology, digital zoom does not sacrifice image quality as much as other cameras I have seen. I still do not use it very much, but when I do, I am happy with it.

If you are in the market for a Digital Camera or a photo printer, be sure to check these out.

BTW, Canon has another Photo Printer which also cost $150.00. It is the i850. The quality is just about the same as mine, but is supposed to be a little better, but not noticable to the naked eye. It does not have a card reader either, and it does not do as well printing out text and graphics. The i470 came out about 1 month ago so there are really no reviews on it yet, but take my word for it. It is sweet!

Let me know if you have any questions!

Epson makes some badass photo-quality printers around the $150 range as well. just an fyi.

bought one recently... though don't remember the model # off the top of my head.

So Guy, is saying "bad@ass" less offensive than "bad ass"? ;) :p

I was thinking of the Espon line too. The DPI of the Epson was higher, but unless you are using a Pro-Sumer Digital Camera, you will not tell the difference. The other reasons are that the Canon ink is cheaper, and they Epson did not have any printers in the $150.00 range with card readers, and none of them take SD/MMC cards. I have now printed about 20 8x11.5 boarderless pictures, and my ink level is a little below half in the color, but my black has not really moved on the indicator.

Next year, I think I am going to upgrade to an SLR digital, and a Dye Sub printer and try to start a part time business. :spin:
