Word is at E3, that all three major players will be announcing price drops.

GameCube $99.99
PS2 $149.99
X-Box $149.99

If you buy one before the price drop, even 1 hour before, you are not eligeble for any type of refund or rebate.

BTW, did you know that EB games will give you $80.00 credit for your non-working PS2. You can then buy a refurbed one for $70.00 with a broken trade in.

Thanks MG. though actually I was considering waiting for the next version (PS2) to be released... as it will have Progressive Scan DVD.

not sure I'll be able to wait that long though.

I don't think I'd take a refurb though. My broken one plus $70, and probably have the same crappy laser that mine has, and I'd go through the same thing again.

I dunno, maybe something to look into. can't play any dvd's right now though, which thoroughly sucks rocks.

Guyute, I just got my latest ps2 from my best buy warranty. Turns out it was worth it. Seems to work just fine so far. We will see how long this one lasts.

I got one on day one with no warrenty and it sucked from the get go. got one with a warrenty after that and then replaced the old one when my newest one went on the blitz. Using my Warrenty from Best Buy.

Does that 70 bucks go toward a new ps2 or at EB or can you use it for anything?

BTW, did you see it officially somewhere. I just checked here:

and I did not see anything about it. I do see they are releasing a widescreen handheld though.

most game stores had it already listed at the time of my post. gamestop.com, ign.com, ebgames.com, etc..

there is also a bundle which includes network adapter for $199 that I've seen. that's not bad.

I'll be starting an E3 thread here soon I guess... should start seeing lots of goodies today :D
