I sure hope that Weekes can put his bumpy season behind him and get really focused on next season, mentally and physically. There will be tremendous pressure on him and he has to be able to roll thru the bad games (hopefully very few of them) and regain his composure quickly.

I recall sitting at the very first practice at the ESA and seeing him go face down on the ice when he had his siezure. I looked at my watch (it was 20 minutes into practice) and said to my husband "let's hope this isn't an omen for the rest of the season". In addition to the obvious concern for Weekes' health, it just seemed like the Canes had only 20 minutes of "here we go into the next season" before that event happened. (Suggestion to Weekes: get into town a little sooner than the night before training starts...)

I want to be at that first open practice with a few hundred other Canes fans and see nothing but good things, happy faces, and Canes in tip-top shape. :D :spin:

Speaking of Shady 80, has anyone heard how his surgery went? In fact, as anyone heard if had the surgery at all?? I haven't heard squat about it since the season ended.

I read in the N&O that he did have the surgery and it went well. haven't seen anything else about it. guess he is getting the strength and mobility back in the off season. hope he is ready to go in the fall.

I was there too Eileen...what a horrifying sight seeing Kevin convulsing on that ice...that is an image that I will NEVER forget! :sad: Maybe it was an omen and we didn't even know it!! :cry:

I am looking forward to that open practice too....I can't wait for the guys go get back!!

Sorry Shawn, that's one that I had a part in creating. Little Marty St. Louis is known as "The Little Turd" in our house since he's such a little pest on the ice. One of those player that you'd love if he's on your team and drives you insane when he's not!? Anyway, Mona used that term one time and I chimed in that it was his official name in this household (Darcy Tucker is one up on St. Louis, he's "The Little Sh*t"). We kept using that name (in the Ladies thread too) and ultimately we shortened it to TLT. He's garnered quite a fan-base in this post season. But I'm sure he'll be on our turd list again next fall ;).

I'm so glad to know that I am not the only one who feels that the "THIS is hockey!" slogan really should go. The "You know when you go." slogan is much better. For all we know, that "THIS..." slogan may have been what brought the Canes bad luck. It certainly got them enough ridicule from the usual dissers to even the Harlem Globetrotters! (in a lame voice) "THIS is basketball." :roll:

Yeah it does (I didn't even know Calgary had a slogan...any other teams out there with slogans besides the Flames and Canes? Until then, I thought the Canes were the only ones sporting a slogan.)...even if it has a wrestling feel to it. Oh man, now that I have that thought and have been looking at the new CH.com top banner, I can almost hear Ronnie right now...

Are ALL of those Lightning slogans, or do some of them belong to other teams? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if "Hardest Working Team In the NHL" was the Red Wings' slogan because of Detroit's being famous for Motown Records, which I believe released albums by the "hardest working man" alias James Brown. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if "Ooh I like ATTACK!" (And booooy, is that a stinker. :sick:) was the San Jose Sharks' slogan for obvious reasons.

D'oh! How could I forget that slogan?! They played the ads with that slogan every commercial break (Just like the "THIS is hockey!" ads...) when I watched a Blackhawks game on the Center Ice free preview waaaay back in October last year. By the end of the game, "Show your colors." had practically been hammered into my brain, but apparently and eventuallly the nails came out...

he just posted them as bad slogans. I believe Bolt Yourself In is the current TB slogan. can't tell ya about the rest just that he is a BIG Lightning fan and generally posts about them.
