O.K..... I'm going to be like a player today, and shake off the previous loss and move on to the next game. After all -- the fluke is the loss, not the wins.
This will be another hard battle. How close are we to the Olympic Break, again???
This game is not carried by FSN. Mini rant: If FSN didn't want to carry ALL our games, why couldn't they at least make the ones they don't want to broadcast be HOME GAMES-- that'd help with ticket sales, too. You'd think they'd at least carry all the away games......
This is a matinee... oh dear.... Puck drops at 1:00PM
LET'S GO 'CANES!!

The B's play tonight right? No excuses not to blow the doors off in the 1st period.
If our guys didn't like the taste of the loss in DC last month, I'm interested to see how they respond to a shutout.
And I admit to not watching the game closely, but if Staal played poorly, he usually bounces back with great efforts.

Guys.....am I just not remembering correctly? FSN has never carried ALL of our games. Or at least not in the 2000s....I don't know what happened before I moved down here and started watching. And it's always been a lot of away games they missed. That was the biggest reason we started getting Center Ice. I'd certainly love for them to carry all of our games, too, but this keeps coming up lately like it's something new.
It's a 1pm game....always scares me. But, this is a new team and I do think they'll have something to prove after last night.

I never remember all of the road games being televised. In fact, it seems to me that this year there are fewer non-televised games than ever before. I believe JF said last night that tomorrow's game is the last road game that won't be televised this season.

That's what I was thinking. I feel like I remember a lot more of them not being on TV after the SCF year than this year. That was what really pushed us to get DirecTV so we could get Center Ice....we were sick of missing Canes games.
Maybe next year we'll get them all on FSN! Or OLN. Or NBC....wherever. :D

I would definitely do the Bar thing, there will always be more youths and conferences. Maybe that doesn't sound right. How about moving the location of the workshop to the bar? ...no, no, that doesn't sound right either. Call in sick and then go to the bar  , ... no, your conscience won't let you do that. Go to the workshop forget the bar and be distracted.
Wow, such a dilemma, looks like you're screwed... Seriously, you have to go to the workshop.

watching the Bruins/Canadiens right now. Its Montreal 1-0 with a couple of minutes left and a half a powerplay.
I tell ya.......the Bruins goalie reminds me of Wardo. Comes up and no one has heard of him and he is stopping almost everything coming his way. I think his name is Tim Thomas?
wow.....tense moments at the end. Souray scores an empty netter and the Canadiens win.
Hope the Bruins are SPENT!!

I get a big bounce-back feeling about this game. Boston can't clutter things up like New Jersey, and I'm sure they're going to make the mistake of trying to open things up with Sturm, Bergeron and Co. BIG mistake ... I smell a return to form.
Go get 'em boys!

They gain by adding Weight
By Kevin Paul Dupont | February 5, 2006
The Carolina Hurricanes, here on Causeway Street this afternoon, got ahead of the potential late-season trading frenzy last week when they acquired veteran pivot Doug Weight for a package that included assorted odds and ends -- the most costly of which could be the No. 1 draft pick they'll hand over to St. Louis. ''True, that No. 1 pick could be the catch of the trade," noted Peter Laviolette, the former Bruins assistant coach who's now behind the red-hot Hurricanes' bench. ''We just hope that catch turns into the No. 30 pick."
Based on the way the Hurricanes have played, it's a lock that the Blues -- in the process of being sold -- will have only their own pick as a top-end choice in this June's draft. The 'Canes looked bulletproof even before the acquisition of the slick but aging (35) Weight, and now they've arguably reached Senatorsphere for consistency and breadth of offense. The pick they'll surrender likely will be in the 27-30 range.
Weight, headed for unrestricted free agency in July, had a no-trade provision in his contract. Hours before the deal was announced, Laviolette, who will be Weight's head coach when Team USA convenes at Olympus, talked with him and sold him on the virtues of joining the 'Canes for the stretch drive -- and perhaps longer.
''Of course, I had the same kind of discussion with [Paul] Kariya over the summer, and I lost that one," said a slightly self-deprecating Laviolette, ex-coach of the Calder Cup-winning Providence Bruins. ''Based on the way that went, I wasn't sure [Carolina general manager] Jimmy [Rutherford] would let me do it again. But, hey, I was 0 for 1. Now I'm 1 for 1. That's coaching -- you try to win today, right?"
Kariya, an unrestricted free agent last summer, ultimately signed a two-year deal with Nashville.
The sell job on Weight, according to Laviolette, was simple and straightforward. With the likes of veteran leader Rod Brind'Amour in place, along with burgeoning superstar Eric Staal, Weight wouldn't have to bear the burden of trying to be too many things to too little a team. He didn't have to arrive in Raleigh as a savior.
''We're right there next to Ottawa for the goal-scoring lead," said Laviolette, recalling the elements of his ''Got Doug?" speech. ''He loves to score, and with us, all he has to do is come in and be the gifted offensive player he is -- just be a piece of the puzzle. We think it's a great situation for him -- and us."
The 'Canes, the former Forever .500s, ••• except when the team was actually playing well in the playoffs, right Bostonians? ••• had oodles of cap room and easily added the remaining $2.1 million due on Weight's $5.7 million deal (the gross discounted 24 percent via the new collective bargaining agreement). They also picked up Finnish winger Erkki Rajamaki, and swapped out roster-filling forwards Jesse Boulerice and Mike Zigomanis, along with a pair of mid-round draft picks, along with the No. 1.
''Like any trade, you have to give to get," mused Laviolette. ''But our goal here was to make a deal, without having to give up our core talent, and bring in a guy who'll make us click even better on offense.
''Hey, a lot of people would have loved to add Doug Weight. Imagine how he might have looked with Philadelphia or Ottawa. Well, you know what? Better for Carolina, I say."

From the Boston Globe ...
We think it's a great situation for him -- and us."

love the word Senatorsphere :D
random information - during the Rangers game yesterday when a goal was being reviewed, I heard one of the announcers say they wished they would announce the reason for the review in the arena. I guess that means it's not just at the RBC that we don't get that information. not sure why that popped into my head, but I've learned to go with it when I remember something ;)

Did it have to be Tanabe?
Nope! They gave it to Leahy. :D

Yes. Or they never even changed it....the announcers confused me. I swear Leahy tipped it, though.
