Can anyone who is actually watching give an evaluation of Esche. I'd love to blame this game on him since I know he won't see the ice again.
It doesn't sound like it from the radio broadcast though.
Can't really blame Esche...although I want Grahame back in net.
How can't you blame Esche. He is awful. He let in a goal from the blue line without any screens.
I think DiPietro should be in goal. He has played well, but the offense hasn't done a thing when he plays. If he plays tomorrow and we can score like we did today, we will have a good chance against the Fins :usa:

How can't you blame Esche.
Because I choose not to blame one person out of 20+ for a loss, especially when those 20 or so haven't been able to outscore their opponent. 1 game out 5 now where that's happened so far...out of those 4, Esche was in goal once, but the rest of the roster has been pretty much the same. That's how I can't blame Esche.

I think DiPietro should be in goal. He has played well, but the offense hasn't done a thing when he plays. If he plays tomorrow and we can score like we did today, we will have a good chance against the Fins
I think he played Esche because this would be the game that if they lost we still advanced and it gave all goalies the chance to play.

Well, I shoulda just came on in here to find out what happened, instead of avoiding the TV's @ the gym, turning off Home Ice on XM just in case- and not turning on channel 17 in case they blabbed the score, and woulda ya know..... we lost. Again. Sat through the whole dang Tivo'd mess of it and just finished watching....
That Kovalev goal was a killer- most of our guys were off on a change and Esche was not screened. Holy crap. I like DiPietro as our starter-
No, we didn't "have" to win- but we 'needed' to win, for the whole head shrinker/psychological thing. Coach looks quite frustrated out there- I'm sure he's ready to get back to his guys in Raleigh and take his Olympians home with him ;) in one piece.
The highlight of the game for me was seeing the pregame skate video of a smiling Matt Cullen . If Canada is questioning Wayne picking the guys he picked- and they certainly have every right to, and we've all said something and had our own take on that scene-I'll be blunt and say, I don't like the make up of this USA team at all- save for some of the players on the team- there's something missing- - Rolston is really so underated, he doesn't get alot of attention, but I always loved him when he played for the B's- and remember, he was in the mix before the lockout and JR tried to sign him before the Wild got him- and isn't he buds with Karmanos Jr and Tripper? Anyway, he's been great. Gomez, Gionta and Cole have been good in spurts- and Keith Tkchuk is offiically snake bit. Mark Parrish is invisible, and Mike Knuble is wholly ineffective- he truly needs Joe Thornton to set him up and we all know that ain't happenin'. I think Waddell and the U.S. braintrust missed some things and should've gone younger IMO. Matt Cullen out there, who clearly is comfortable on the big ice, probably would've gone a long way- Paul Martin on D would have had that puck moving d-man- Modano hasn't shown me much, Craig Conroy has been good & Doug Weight put together his best game today.I could go on, but there are pluses, & there are some minuses and the minuses are glaring to me.
I had concerns about Hatcher early, but frankly, he has been a shut down guy. He took a dumb penalty, but overall good game.
Did anyone else catch Ovechkin and his red skates- rattle Chris Chelios??? That kid plays with zero fear. And Pittsburgh has lots to feel good about in Malkin.
Oh for gosh sakes, enough fawning over the friggin' Russians. As much as I enjoy them individually, this is international hockey. USA all the way, good bad or ugly.

Can't really blame Esche...although I want Grahame back in net.
How can't you blame Esche.
We haven't been able to score, and now when we score 4 goals and Esche lets in 5.
I think Esche was mostly to blame, but not all to blame. Hopefully tomorrow morning we will be cheering an American upset! :usa:

Dammit
Can anyone who is actually watching give an evaluation of Esche. I'd love to blame this game on him since I know he won't see the ice again.
It doesn't sound like it from the radio broadcast though.

Well I finally watched the game I recorded on my pvr machine, and I like whats I saw from the team... More traffic in front of the net more goals.. hopefully they keep this up, while esche is not totally to blame there were defintaly a couple of thoose goals that I think Dipetrio Would have stopped, and I hope to see him or Graham back in net.

I don't think Esche is to blame for this loss.
At the same time, I've never thought very much of Esche.
Bobby Clarke's reign of terror with the Flyers' net may well have ended with Niitty, though.
