View Full Version : Party People.... Help Needed
Night Train
03-14-2006, 06:11 PM
I'm organizing an office get together for this Friday. It's based around both the NCAA Touney games and St. Patrick's Day. Do any of the party people on the board have ideas for games or things like that. We're cooking out behind the office. We have plenty of space to do whatever. So far the plan is to shoot pool and watch hoops, but I'd like to get some more things for the non-sports fans.
Total number of people will be in the 10-15 person range. It's an Engineering firm, so it's almost all guys.
Thanks for any ideas!

Drinking is allowed in a BYOB sense. The bosses are cool with that.
Death Nachos are probably out, I do want to remain employed after all.... ;)

I haven't played those games in years..
though, in my day, I actually won a blind-quarters competition. sank 34 in a row blindfolded. :D the losers all puked that night I believe.
I loves me some drinkin games.
can't even fathom how many cases went down while playing those 3 games alone (edit: "alone" meaning, just those 3 games.. not alone as in by myself. 3 man with only one player is BRUTAL! LOL)

sometimes they do, but that's not the case here. hehe
I normally don't play those games anymore because I don't get utterly plastered all that often. and if I do it's usually while shooting pool or darts. ;)
I don't have a good hardwood table that I don't mind chipping up for Quarters anymore either.. otherwise I would still bounce.

The perfect engineering NCAA party. Hmm.
Hire a turntablist, get a nerf hoop, and play horse. I can remember multiple parties in which the horse competition WAS the party, and the loser paid in some way. It will be like your own "And 1" tour for streetball.

It's an Engineering firm, so it's almost all guys.
Gloria Steinem: "So, whatcha tryin' to say? Huh?"
Anyhoo! Simplest drinking game there is: red/black. Deck of cards face down. Guess a color. Flip up a card. If you're right, you make someone else drink and it stays your turn. If you're wrong, you drink and it passes to the next guy.

OK, just got home.
Here's the party report. First of all, we had 13 people and food (and beer) for 25! Mostly, we played pool, grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, and debated our office tournament pools while watching the basketball game.
Our secretary got a bag of M&Ms and we had a contest to see who could guess the number in a jar. We had two prizes for the closest guesses. The first was a green plastic "yard" bottle-type thingy. The other proze was a foam St. Patrick's Day mug hat. Yes, we made the guy who won that wear it. It's not like he'd have looked as silly as I did with my mullet wig and green and white Dr. Seuss hat.
I also got some party favors for everyone. Little green plastic mugs and basketball colored hacky sack looking things. I also brought in my bolltle opener to further the March Madness part of the theme. Yes, it plays the State fight song!
I tried not to over-schedule it and just let everyone try to have a good time, which they did.
Thanks again for the help!
