Wild's Gaborik having offseason surgery

Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota Wild right-winger Marian Gaborik will have surgery to repair a hernia within the next two weeks and is expected to be ready for training camp in the fall.

Gaborik, the Wild's leading scorer, had a similar operation in July 2001.

Assistant General Manager Tom Lynn said Wednesday that five other Minnesota players also will have surgery for minor injuries in the next couple of weeks: forward Andrew Brunette (shoulder), goalie Dwayne Roloson (shoulder), defenceman Willie Mitchell (wrist), forward Richard Park (shoulder) and defenceman Jeremy Stevenson (knee).

With the exception of Gaborik, each player will take about six-to-eight weeks to rehabilitate, Lynn said. Gaborik's recovery could take longer.

None of the players is expected to miss training camp.

Nothing serious. Just filling some time in the off-day with some hockey news. :D

Wild's Gaborik has shoulder surgery

June 4, 2003
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Marian Gaborik had surgery on his right shoulder this week, the second operation Minnesota's All-Star forward has had this offseason.

Gaborik had the procedure done to fix some looseness in the shoulder, Wild assistant general manager Tom Lynn said Wednesday. Recovery time is four to six weeks.

The operation was performed Tuesday by team physician Dr. Joel Boyd.

Gaborik has also had hernia surgery since the Wild were swept in the Western Conference finals by Anaheim. He is expected to be ready in time for training camp in the fall.

Gaborik, 21, remains the leading scorer in this year's playoffs with 17 points. Gaborik led Minnesota with 65 points (30 goals) during the regular season and became the first Wild player chosen for the NHL All-Star Game.
