we really need to play hard and do three things:
a) do something to break the stigma that the Bolts own us. Although we've won against them this season, none have been pretty and they are really desperate right now. If we're going to see them anytime in the playoffs, we need to assert in this home and home that we're ready.
b) try to establish some form of chemistry and consistency going into the playoffs. With guys hurt, we still haven't been able to roll the same lineup for more than a game or two at a time. The Recchi/Weight combo seems to be clicking a bit. As much as he's my fav player, we need to wake up Joe and make him play again.
c) Montreal has a couple tough games left against NJ and Buffalo. Given that Tampa is only two points behind them for seventh spot, we can single handedly insure Tampa (or Atlanta) stays in the #8 spot. Ottawa plays Florida, Toronto and the Rangers to finish out. As much as it would be great to win the conference, I think 2nd is more realistic. If we keep Montreal in the #7 slot, I like that first round matchup a lot better than having the #8 slot team choice.
I know we should never try to manipulate things and we should be able to play with any team that stacks up against us. But I like the idea, even though they are "hot" right now, of playing Montreal as a first round opponent moreso than the others. I think we can beat up on them, even without Cole, and give us a big boost of confidence as we get the playoffs rolling. I know Boston probably said the same thing a few years ago... but we're not Boston :)

SS- you're so totally right, we're not Boston is correct, and I completely agree with your post.
I'm really looking for the guys to use these last 3 games to get the chemistry clicking- On Forslund's show yesterday, during his 'injury report' he mentioned that Whitney could be in the lineup on Friday or Saturday, and made an intersting note that the lower body injury he has is not the groin- it's another injury and if we were playing playoff hockey he would have played the other night- but they're trying to get him rested for the long haul- so that was interesting.....
I think the guys are ready to return to form so to speak- even without EC, we have a formidable lineup- we've had a couple of bumps but this is the time of year when everything becomes magnified, and I expect the boys will elevate themselves in these next 3 games and we're going to roll into the playoffs on a high. Just a gut feelin'.................

Luckily Tampa is more of a skating team than some of the other Eastern teams so I don't think of them as a clutching and grabbing squad.

I'm really looking forward to going to this game tomorrow. I won't be looking forward to spotting my co-worker in seats right behind the bench, as she won the Canes Sub for a Day! She's also the one that told me she saw a humpback whale during a scuba dive on her recent trip to the Carribean. I told her she should go buy some lottery tickets before that horseshoe falls out of her nether regions!
It just occurred to me that the playoffs start NEXT FRIDAY! I'm so excited I could pop! :spin:

Is anyone tailgating? I know there are some sort of festivities around fan appreciation night but I am not sure when they start.
We are planning to get there around 4-4:30 and set up w/ some "refreshments"... probably in the first parking lot off Edwards Mill.

Here's some more details about tonight's game:
RALEIGH, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes will hold their annual Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, April 14, as the team takes on the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Before, during and after Friday’s game, the Hurricanes will pay special tribute to their fans with giveaways and on-ice presentations.
The night will include special displays on the RBC Center’s main concourse, including the Stanley Cup and the USA Hockey Hall of Fame traveling display. Fans are welcome to bring cameras as, time permitting, they will have the opportunity to take pictures of and with the Stanley Cup. All fans in attendance will receive an Eric Staal player magnet courtesy of Subway and a 2005-06 Hurricanes team poster courtesy of the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program. More than 30 fans will be selected to receive special sponsor bags, and randomly selected fans will receive Hurricanes players’ sticks on the ice following the game.
American Idol contestant Heather Cox will sing the national anthem prior to Friday’s game and will be on the concourse during the game’s first intermission to sign autographs. During the game’s second intermission, David “Oggie” Ogron will entertain fans as he tries to set the record for the most golf balls hit in a 60-second period. Ogron’s “Miracle Golf Tour” travels around the country as he performs his rapid golf-ball hitting to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Hurricanes will donate $5 for each ball he hits. Ogron will be on the concourse selling signed golf balls to raise additional money for St. Jude’s.
And...
If you're away from your office today, the Cup's making a couple of appearances away from the RBC:
HAVE LUNCH WITH THE STANLEY CUP!
Prior to its arrival at the RBC Center later in the day, the Stanley Cup will be on tour across the Triangle! Join the Cup for lunch Friday afternoon at the Carolina Ale House's Cary location (map) from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., or afterwards at Raleigh's Pullen Park (map) from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Man ... would'nt be great to get the playoff mindset by eliminating a team? I really hope we can bury the hatchet on the Bolts.

this game is huge for TB...if Carolina beats Tampa tonight, the Thrash play an early game against the Bruins tomorrow afternoon, and Atlanta could pull even with TB before the game starts tomorrow night (thought TB would still own the tiebreaker due to the # of wins equalizer)....talk about gripping the sticks tight tomorrow night if it comes to that point....
the fact that carolina now owns it own destiny again is a big thing...win out, and get the # 1 seed in the east...

Was 3-2 in favor of Tampa, but immediately tied @ 3-3 by Brindy! :spin:
Edit: Now 4-4 at the end of the 2nd...both teams are putting up quite a good fight.

I had a chance to go last minute but I decided to give my little brother my ticket since it's geting close to his birthday. I was glad they got the win but I didn't like the way they played in the first period.

it definitely looked like it went straight from burke's stick to the crowd, IMO.
Anyway, FUN, FUN game. Great crowd; obviously it was a back-and-forth game, and we got the W.
I just have a couple of observations:
1) Yeah, we scored on that first PP, but after that, they are still looking like figure-skaters trying to be cute and/or graceful, and achieving neither objective. I know it sucks when people yell "shoooot!" but sometimes I find it hard not to join their ranks.
2) If the Selke trophy were decided tonight, every single Cane forward would be a nominee... there was some great come-back and play-defense from the forwards, even though Tampa slipped 3 by us (that laser that got by Gerber in the 2nd does NOT count. lol.)
3) SITTING IN A BOX IS AWESOME! I ate so many nachos, chicken wings, popcorn, etc., that I got a stomach ache... And it was Rex's box (or one of them, I guess), and they had 2 extra tickets to Section 110, row B, seats 1 and 2, RIGHT by the glass, and we rotated, and I got to go down there for the 2nd period and see the goals. Those are my new favorite seats...

getting a very upclose view of the look on Vinnie's face after missing in the shootout was worth the price of admission.
there was a woman sitting beside me who had been watching games on TV. she decided to buy a ticket and drive from Wilmington to see a game live. she was exhausted when it was over and said it was worth every minute of the drive.
if you could see that game and not want to see more, you are not breathing.
not a bad night for the NHL considering we were the only game in town. the Canes should get flowers and chocolates!

I use to yell "shoot the puck" until I realized you needed at least a lane. I"ve gone back to shoot the puck. I think its great to look for the perfect shot but sometime during your two minutes of no shots on goal, I would think you would need to switch from looking for the perfect shot to looking for the lucky shot. As much as I enjoyed this game, I felt there were glimpses of the past power play death puck cycle of doom.

my gripe about the shoot the puckers is the lovely man in 110 who would scream shoot the puck if all the players were face down on the ice with another player on top of him. apparently, when you are on the PP you are supposed to shoot the puck every second of every PP. I spend most PPs wanting the puck to hit him in the mouth. stupid net ;)

I'm gonna take this win, and I hope the boys do too, knowing full well we're not clicking on all cylinders, and we need to work on some things.
I was happy the PP started to 'click' (i.e. we got goals off it) but whoever said we were getting too cute out there was darn right. The passing disease is alive and well and in the RBCC. OMG I hate the whole 'shooooot' screaming that goes on, but holy cow. You gotta give a girl a break
The building was full, lots of newbies in the house, lots of Canes fans, and wow- did anyone get a load of all of the Commodore 22 robes & wigs? people had signs and they were all down low at warmups - I caught Commodore chuckling a couple of time-the building had a playoff vibe to it for sure, I love walking into the arena and not being able to get from point A to point B- that means a full house every time, and the concourse was quite a scene. I wanted to glimpse the CxP, however, the line snaked around the concourse so I said to myself, that just means it'll be here in June on our ice ;)
Here's some more details about tonight's game:
More than 30 fans will be selected to receive special sponsor bags, and randomly selected fans will receive Hurricanes players’ sticks on the ice following the game.
:D
Random? Yeah, right...
B13- LMAO-cause funny...... there is a particular "fan" that Mr Socal, who doesn't pay attention to anything related to people, crowds, etc., has in it for, as he witnessed her take a stick that was given to a child by Wally, right out of his hands after a game one night, and marched right up the stairs- she's a familiar face for most of us STHers as she gets on the jumbotron a minimum of 3 times a night, well.........tonight, Mr Socal said he would lose his mind if this individual wound up getting one of the sticks. Well, right on cue, she got one of 'em  so "Random" is kind of a joke. LOL.
It was nice to see people who did win, 'won' the player who matched his/her jersey- KAds and Staal come to mind there, but the highlight tonight for me, was SEEING ERIK COLE. This is the first and only time I've seen him since he was on TV except for that one practice when he was peeking on the ice-and they had him on the J-tron and boy that was a happy moment.
Back to the drawing board- I hope the guys woke up a little, and see the finish line and how they can finish strong. It's in their hands- they just need to get these kinks and the hot potato syndrome out of their systems.
Did anyone else see coach go nuts when they announced Prospal as the shooter and it was St. Louis? Mr Socal said he was telepathing to coach to pipe down since St.Louis is O-fer in the shoot out, and if he did make it, we could protest cause they had the wrong guy go  Yes, he's that
finicky/notices every dang thing lol- Good night for a win and a good night to be the only game in the NHL- we represented pretty well. Nowif we can only pull it all together- I'll breathe easier.

Wow, what a night! This game was FUNNN! A shootout win plus:
1. I got to touch the cup...of course I had to miss half of the 2nd in order to do so, but being next in line when the 'Canes got a goal was worth it....maybe it's sign. ;)
2. The crowd was loouudd. Tons of chants, loved the "goal" chant when they were reviewing the one in overtime. And nice to see all the love for Commy in the stands tonight. Every caniac at the game tonight deserves a gold star. :D
3. The Subway pack is officially over! No more sitting in front of the annoying family! Which means no more children screaming in my ear, no more constant complaining, and no more listening to someone yell EVERY word that Chuck Kaiton says in an attempt to sound like he knows what's going on more so than anyone else. Geeze, watch out for them during the playoffs.
On a different note: Yeah the whole random giveaways for the sticks was pretty funny. A first-row-STH who we've seen in the same seats for years just happened to win a stick....and a jersey a couple of seasons back. Hmmmm..
I'm so glad we got this one....I just watched a bit of the tape and wow, Gerber did get a lot of help from the post in the shootout. But, hey we won and that smile on P-Lav's face after Cullen's goal was priceless.

Another 2 points!! Time to dance!
:nanner:
These back-and-forth games put my stomach in knots, but boy are they entertaining.
I don't think you could have asked for a more fun time for Fan Appreciation Night..... although.... I am disappointed to not have gotten a stick, since I was hoping my voodoo method of sticking a Sharpie in my back pocket before the game was supposed to guarantee me winning one!!
It was nice to see Erik on the bench after the game. Knowing he was in the house makes me feel better about the team.

Definitely not on the "shooooot" bandwagon. Matter of fact, I have a woman who sits behind me and she's always hollering it. Her (and many others) were at it in the second, and Sticker and I were both so aggravated at the lack of patience some have ... and then Weight stuffed that goal home and she started cheering sooooo loud. I calmly turned around and said, "No, no, no ... you're not allowed to cheer that one" and winked at her.
Speaking of Sticker, some little girl offered up some stomach jucies on his Cole jersey tonight ... so everyone have his jersey in your thoughts tonight and hope it doesn't stain. :hurl:
In somegood news, we have all three stars on NHL.com tonight ... Cullen No. 1, followed by Gerber and Weight, who I thought was far and away the best skater tonight.
Also, did anyone notice Staal got benched in the second? I'm sure it was b/c of his pinch on the PP that led to the two-man breakaway shortie by St. Louis, followed by him not skating out a play that led to an odd-man rush. It was good to see him come out in the third with some fire in his belly, though.

I had eyeswitness proof that the stick giveaways were not chosen by the storm squad at the time of the giveaway. Some guy from the org was in our section when we got there explaining to the folks who got Cole's stick what would happen when they did the giveaway and where they needed to be at the end of the game. Then, we saw the Storm Squad chicks come up and pretend to be getting everyone to cheer and deciding who they were going to give it to.
Can't wait to watch the broadcast of this one! I hear the coach was miked tonight and that Erik maybe makes an appearance?
I didn't think we were fabulous by any stretch but to pull it out and get the win was HUGE! Can't believe the PP could suck so bad and still actually work, lol. Gerber let in one he should have had, absolutely. And maybe that has become more of a pattern than many of us would like. But, he also made some saves on shots where no one would have faulted him if they'd gotten by him. He seems to come up big after making mistakes rather than go into a death spiral like some other goalies I've know. I think I can live with that.
Joe Vasicek served one and only one decent purpose this entire evening and that was in planting his slow a** in front of the net on that first PP. Where does that four point game Joe go?
Staal scares me with the way too frequent little hooks. I'd hate to have to smack that kid. ;)
I guess Stillman had another one of those nights where he doesn't do anything, huh, lol. And I believe Chad LaRose and Tverdovsky have been called useless (Tver) or at least called out (LaRose) recently and both of them had awesome games, IMO.
The officiating wasn't half-bad. There were some crappy calls and they wouldn't know interference if it came up and slapped them in the nose but at least it evened out fairly well. It's the first time I can remember not genuinely believing Schik was being paid by the opposing team, lol.
I am SO glad that Commodore is getting such a following! Robes and red wigs all over the place tonight!!
The anthem singer....not really my style but good lord, what an improvement on Holly "what so proudly we held" Wilver!! Now, I'd like to hear that chick do O Canada.
OK, the little goal, game, hit, save, etc of the year videos? Terribly done. No voice-over, no call on the play, nothing. They may as well have been invisible. More AV woes, I guess.
Brindy got the Steve Chiasson and Cullen got what the Booster Club gives (fan favorite?), right? They announced those when they were gearing up to give away more sticks so I couldn't hear the announcment for the screaming.
The crwod was completely awesome, as far as volume. Can't wait for the playoffs!!
Well, congratulations Atlanta. You just got a step closer to the playoffs.
Best thing about being the only game in the NHL tonight...the Carolina Hurricanes swept the NHL.com Three Stars!! Cully get's #1! :spin:

Also, did anyone notice Staal got benched in the second? I'm sure it was b/c of his pinch on the PP that led to the two-man breakaway shortie by St. Louis, followed by him not skating out a play that led to an odd-man rush. It was good to see him come out in the third with some fire in his belly, though.
If he was benched it wasn't for very long at all.

SHC ... gotta agree on LaRose .... he had a good game. I know my personal problem with LaRose has always been that he does not deserve top six minutes. But as a guy who played on the 4th/sometimes 3rd line tonight, he filled his role. He still missed a chance to finish in front tonight, tho ... he's really gripping around the net, no doubt. But I liked the way he forechecked and finished some checks.

some thoughts:
I know I seem to write this every game. But the officiating was beyond awful in this game..... and I'm starting to see a definite pattern.... Get used to it folks. We have fully regressed into 04 hockey. The playoffs are going to be the old rules... and I don't like it one little bit... There was interference and hooking and clutching and mauling everywhere tonight....We got away with a bunch of stuff tonight and then they called some pitiful penalties. I've said it once, I'll say it again. I don't care who the penalties are called on, just as long as they are consistent and call them all from start to finish..... we didn't get that at all tonight.....
the crowd was good tonight... there was an electricity in the building that hasn't been there in a long time.
I had my first really bad experience with parking this evening (aside from the jacka$$ with the Hummer a while back that I almost ran down and used my free accident to smash the crap out of his rig and then beat him to a pulp). They changed the traffic patterns AGAIN getting into the arena which wasn't really a big deal. I'm good at maneuvering around the pylons to get where I want to park. But leaving the rink tonight it took forever to get out of the parking lot. Normally I'm out in under 2 minutes. But it was a good 20+ minutes to get out tonight... I'm not a patient drive to begin with... but all the newbies in the parking lot had something to do with it I'm sure.... and seriously, why the h-e-double hockey sticks can't people figure out the concept of "one for one".?? It's not rocket science and things move soooooo much smoother that way....
as for the game... it was very entertaining and it was great to get to celebrate some goals.... but we had some woeful defensive lapses.... as pitiful as Gerber was on that "laser" from the blue line, he had to bail us out a few times with very fine saves, and he was hung out to dry on a couple others.......
we seriously should have been called for about 5 "too many men" penalties.... at least 2 of them it seemed like a good 20 seconds or more, plus one instance had guys jumping on the ice and joining the play when the guy they were replacing was still in the offensive zone on the other side of the ice....
I knew I wasn't going to be one of the "random" stick winners after my email campaign on the debacle that is our anthem singer... but it was great to see Cole on the bench. Not that it would do me any good. I'm not a big memorabilia guy (I've got a few of those miniature Stanley Cup things that people keep giving me and I want to toss out... anyone want them?). I hate the composite sticks to play with. They just don't feel right. Give me a big wooden Sherwood anyday. Am I dating myself? :)
The powerplay, even though we scored this evening, looked awful once again. Too much standing around. No puck movement. All Tampa did (which is what anyone with half a brain can easily see watching the tape... and several teams lately have obviously been scouting the tape to good effect) is to play an aggressive penalty kill. They attacked the puck carrier because they knew we weren't positionally moving around enough to bail the guy out and that we wouldn't react quickly enough to make them pay for having their guy out of position. I didn't see pretty passing out there.... we can't shoot because the defenders all over us and we aren't moving the puck enough to have even a hint of a shooting lane...
waaaaaaaaay too much "one man show" when rushing up the ice. Time and time again, we're rushing 5 guys and the guy that takes the puck from behind the net holds onto it all the way through the nuetral zone without passing or having the other team members be positionned to be passed to. Tampa didn't have to worry about anyone but the puck carrier because they knew we weren't passing it away (unlike St. Louis springing Vinnie by drawing Ward from his wrong side and leaving Vinny all alone to walk in on Gerber). Two things happened: a) the puck carrier was forced to dump the puck when the converging defenders collapsed on him or b) the puck carrier just lost control of the puck, causig Tampa to counter attack.
We got the points, which is good. But do we really want to play a 7 game series with these guys as a prize for winning the conference title?
edited to add: We talked about this at the game tonight... LaRose isn't the most gifted finisher in the world. But for as small as he is, he works his tail off out there and he always seems to win the battle on the boards. Several times he was double teamed and still came up with the puck....
Staal did NOT have a good game. He was awful in parts. He does NOT belong on the penalty kill. I'm sorry... the boy is a defensive liability out there. What the hell was he doing on that one kill where he just shoved three guys and then stood there... directly responsible for a few goals out there this evening, especially on that kill... if you can call it that....

some thoughts:

Yeah, that has been a problem for a while now. We've (Mr SHC and I) been complaining about all the dumping lately but, like you said, anytime someone does skate the puck into the zone his linemates are still back at the far blueline and he has no where to go. And I hate to say it after he had a pretty good game, but that's the part of our system Weight sure hasn't caught on to yet. He's behind the d-men coming into the offensive zone more often than not

No, but it's not like we can throw games, either. Right?

Watching on the tube I didn't see any major power play woes. In fact it's what bailed us out for the night. Special teams cooked like no other game. What I saw was great puck possession that lasted so long it tired out the defenders and led to the power play goals late in the PP. The lasers from the point weren't there and I saw they were working the puck possession from the forwards more than ever, and it's good to see we didn't have to rely on Babchucks chuck to get us through a power play.
The most amazing thing was how often the sticks were in the lanes or making sweeping defensive moves stick on stick. The canes looked like experts in defending without penalty. I just wish the refs would stick to the original gameplan of calling the game the same as the beginning of the year.
Erik Cole: "it could be 10 days to a few weeks." Here's to 10 days.
And btw, Does Brindy have his gloves on backwards?

Very interesting game...entertaining to say the least.
I didn't see anything about it on here, and I haven't seen any replays, but could anyone see if the Richards goal came out of a long screen? The fact that Gerber didn't move at all makes me think he either didn't see it or he thought it was going wide, and it was far enough inside the frame that I doubt that is the case.
Other than that, Gerber played a hell of a game. Granted, he didn't shut the door, but he made a number of incredible saves. I caught myself listening to the Aftermath and Chris Clark () said that the posts did all the work in the shootout: well, dumbass, when guys hit posts it's because the goaltender isn't giving them any open net to shoot at.
The team didn't play outstandingly well, but they also weren't terrible...however, the defensive breakdowns have me more and more worried. I was particularly baffled by the time St. Louis got to coast through the neutral zone for a good five seconds without being challenged/bodied/anything and used the opportunity to send a perfectly weighted pass to Vinny for a breakaway.
Crowd was excellent, I found myself thinking "it's awfully loud in here" in a nostalgic fashion quite a few times.
I know tonight's crowd won't be the same as the playoff crowd, but even so I think tonight might've seen a moment when the crowd as a whole gelled. When Burke cleared the puck cleanly into the crowd, I think everyone in the arena jumped up in outrage at the same time. It was pretty cool.
Brindy definitely has his gloves on the wrong hands in the team photo (I forgot mine in my hurry to get to Garner for a pickup game), but the thing that baffles me is Cam: he has on a new set of pads in the photo, but it's not the new set of pads he had on tonight (jagged), it's not the new set he got a few months back (gale flags), and it's not the set he's been using all years. I guess they're photo-only pads?

First off I must say, since everyone knows how much I love Larose, that he was effective tonight. Given his role tonight (4th line, spot third line) he did the job. He worked along the boards, threw his body around, and forechecked well. I've always said I'll give credit where it's due, he never has impressed me, tonight though was different.
Other thoughts. As Corylav mentioned, it is very frustrating to hear fans "boo" or yell "shoot" during a PP when it's just not the time to shoot. I've never been a fan of booing at all. So as the fans were booing, Corylav turns to me and says if the Canes score, no one should be allowed to cheer but us. I looked at him and said I was just thinking that. And wouldn't you know it not 10 seconds later the Canes score. And yes he did turn to the woman behind us and say you can't cheer.
Corylav and I both agreed that Weight was amazing tonight. You can just tell how confident he is and I think the floodgates are starting to open. Still don't know how he didn't get a star of the night.
Gerber looked shaky but had some amzaing saves. His split save in the second was amazing, not sure who it was off of. He also had a really nice save off of Lecavalier off an unbelievable tip. Lecavalier has some amazing talent.
On to the other story of the night, which has already been mentioned but here's the full story. So there's a woman and her kids sitting behind us and I guess dad and the other kid next to us. We're in the third period with maybe 5 minutes to go. All of a sudden I feel that backside of my jersey is wet. And I'm thinking great this kid knocked her drink over and it's all over my shirt. Thanks!! So I lean over and tell corylav that I just got some soda/beer/water, not sure what, spilled all over my back. We both look in the aisle and the mom is carrying the kid down the stairs and cory lav just says it looks like the mom got the worst of it. So I go to feel the back of the jersey and it was pretty wet but what can you do. Corylav got a feel too. No big deal. Then he turns around and looks on the floor and notices that it was "stomach juices" and so he tells me. What do you do at that point. I just lean forward for the rest of the night, obviously I can't sit back cuz the back of my seat is covered in stomach juices, the chunky kind, and just act like nothing happened. Well the guys 2 rows behind us are just laughing hysterically telling me it's all over my jersey. Thanks for the heads up. Then an usher comes over and says to the woman who was "booing" during the PP that they have someone coming over to take care of it. I asked "jokingly" if someone can take care of my jersey. He shrugged his shoulders. It never hurts to ask. A few minutes later, they're back in the aisle cleaning. And I see the usher talking to RBC staff pointing at me and some woman motions with her finger to come down. She offered me a bag to put my jersey in. I said thanks but it's probably already seeped through on to my shirt as well and it really wouldn't help. So we lift up my jersey and they inspect my shirt for me and tell me yeah it did seep through. I said a bag won't help too much since the shirt is also stained but thanks anyway. So I get home and do some laundry and take a shower. Just checked out the jersey, thanks for all of the thoughts because it looks like it came out, no stains. I'm sure Colesy is very happy about that.
It was tough to enjoy the OT and shootout, knowing I had chunky vomit on my back, but I'm a Caniac, so I toughed it out. Good thing they won, otherwise I would have been really pissed. Good night all. :hurl:

:hurl:

Me and the wife got to sit down below for this game. It was a great game to sit down below for! The crowd was loud and our section (108) was really into it and me and my wife were loud as well. There was a lady and her friends sitting behind us that was very vocal. At the beginning of the game she was refering to "bandwagon" fans and me and my wife payed it no mind..Later in the game she was yelling and said I bet this girl (my wife) won't want to sit here anymore because I'm making her go deaf. Her friend said I bet they don't even come to the playoffs (I guess refering back to the bandwagon thing)? I didn't pay it much mind at the game and granted the lady ended up being a very nice lady but that really pissed me off! When a penalty was called she didn't know who it was on and said some other stupid stuff. My wife and I have been going to Canes games since they moved to Raleigh and have been to all the playoffs and so forth. Anyway I know this is a stupid rant but I had to get it off my chest. Otherwise it was a great game to be at and can't wait for the playoffs, and if this message looks stupid sorry about wasting your time making you read it.

So since they won, do you need to find pukey kids every game to christen the jersey as a superstition?
Here's you game 7 of the SC playoffs, "Hey, kid, Eat that kraut dog and PUKE ON MY JERSEY! PUKE ON MY JERSEY NOW!"
Now you have to buy the bathrobe to wear over the jersey

No the woman didn't apologize, she was kind of busy carrying her kid to the bathroom. She and the kid were apparently covered in puke and probably just didn't even notice that any got on me.
And no I don't feel the need to christen the jersey now and find kids to puke on it. I'll just bring a raincoat with me from now on and I'll be safe.

the thing that baffles me is Cam: he has on a new set of pads in the photo, but it's not the new set of pads he had on tonight (jagged), it's not the new set he got a few months back (gale flags), and it's not the set he's been using all years. I guess they're photo-only pads?
you know i was like i swear his pads have that little swooshy thing on the top AND bottom, but figured i was just thinkin of alabamas.

I'd swear it was tipped just a tiny bit. I really thought so in the building but I couldn't tell from the broadcast. Tripp didn't think so.
That's the one Gerber stopped, right? Yeah, no one was standing St Louis up at all (Kaberle, I think, was just watching him, skating backwards) so it appeared Ward got inpatient and decided he'd do it, so he left Vinny. Which was exactly what St Louis was looking for. Ironically enough, at that point, if no one would have gone after St Louis at all they probably wouldn't have gotten the chance they did.
I think Cam must be a clothes-horse. Or, in this case, a pads-horse.
Sorry you got hurled on, sticker!! I would die! No way do I handle that half as well as you did. For one thing, I'd have hurled too.

G-Vegas...sorry you had some dumba** fan nearby! Geez, people, I'm annoyed by total bandwagoners myself but c'mon! We filled the building! Don't drive them away!! Wonder how many first-timers she had near her who won't come back now. And obviously, not everyone at a game for the first time is a bandwagoner, either. You don't know who the bandwagoners are until you see who jumps off the next time we hit a rough patch.

Little late chiming in, but...
*While it wasn't the Best game we've ever played, it was Very exciting. The crowd was definitely in it, which makes me feel very good about retaining the "Loudest House" title come playoff time.
*I personally would have given the "Shootout Star" award to Cullen. (And he proved WHY last night!)
*Anthem singer - Marked Improvement.
*I didn't see a single "Robe Warrior"!?!?
*Got my picture taken with the SC - woo hoo!!!
*I just finished reading that FORTY-FIVE page TBL vs CAR game thread over in Leaf Land. HEE-larious! I know it just about killed all of them to have to root for us last night, and heh heh, they have to do it again tonight.

to me the Canes Org should of given Sticker a new t-shirt to wear. That is disgusting!! No ones fault because you can't control a kid vomitting. The mom might not have noticed it hit your jersey?? Thanks SHC for those comments..I guess she was saying that stuff because she and her friends had season tickets in that section. We got tickets off ticketmaster and it put us in that section. So I since we don't sit there all season that is why she had those comments. My wife and I would love to go to every game but with our work and the drive it is impossible. Plus down in that section the price is a little high and we would probably get something in the section where you & your husband sit at...Anyways I'm over it and I'll be at the playoffs..It might be up high but I WILL BE THERE! :D

I'm sorry that happened G-Vegas! We normally sit in 108 and have very nice, cheering fans who sit around us. We only have a ten pack so we weren't at that game, but normally no one is that obnoxious (unless they're seat squatters). We'll be in 108 for the playoffs--feel free to visit--we promise we'll be nice.
