Anybody else get this yet? JR's letter is very interesting. Very honest and forthright. And he mentions Malec and Bayda as prospects who have "stepped up to the NHL level and proved that they are ready to perform at a high level immediately." Can you say shoo-ins?

I'll skip some of the fluff parts if that is OK. And please excuse my typing.

As the end of the 2002-2003 season draws near, it is time to turn our attention toward next season. It is our hope that you will choose to remain a part of our team as we prepare for the 2003-2004 National Hockey League season. Our fans play a vital role in everything that we do and your continued support throughout this season has proven that we in North Carolina truly have the greatest fans in hockey.

As you know, it has been a disappointing season for the Carolina Hurricanes (hereafter referred to as CH). We began the year with the highest of expectations, retaining nearly all of the players who captured the Eastern Conference Championship in 2002. But for several reason, including key injuries to some of our most important players, we were not as successful as you expected us to be, or we expected ourselves to be. As it turned out, the CH are set to become the third team in the last eight years to follow up an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals by not making the playoffs the following season.

However, some positive signs for the future have emerged through this trying time. As a result of the over 250 man games we will have lost this year due to injury by season's end, the next round of young prospects bred in our system have and will continue to gain plenty of experience. Prospects including Tomas Malec and Ryan Bayda have stepped up to the NHL level and proved that they are ready to perform at a high level immediately, which is extremely exciting for us as we look to next season and beyond.

When our team missed the playoffs in 2000, we went through a restructuring to better prepare our team for a stronger future, adding younger players to the mix for the 2000-2001 season like Josef Vasicek and Niclas Wallin. The following year Erik Cole and Jarslav Svoboda emerged as legitimate pieces to the puzzle, each making their mark in an exciting playoff run that took us all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals, The restructuring that began after missing the playoffs in 2000 resulted in a playoff berth in 2001 and the Southeast Division and Eastern Confernce championships in 2002.

After missing the playoffs this season, we find our team in a similar position. With a young core in place that we believe in, and a terrific opportunity to enhance our organization's future this summer in the draft, we are very excited about the future of the CH. A restructuring of our team around this young core is needed to bridge the gap and make our business viable for the long term. Our ultimate goal remains the same as it has always been: to win the Stanley Cup. We will continue to build toward that ultimate goal, and we hope you will continue along with us every step of the way.

Enclosed in this mailing you will find information regarding the renewal of you season-ticket package. As you may already know, prices for our 2003-2004 tickets will remain the same as this past season. And don't forget the NHL draft is coming to Raleigh in June of 2004. You will receive complimentart tickets to the Draft as part of your season-ticket package, along with all the other benefits associated with being a season ticket holder.

On behalf of the entire organization, I want to thank you in advance for your continued support. We look forward to an exciting 2003-2004 season and we hope, once again, that you join us for the ride.

Love ya!

It's nice to see that we'll get free tickets to the draft. I realize it's not necessarily riveting, but it could fun for a bit!

I'm as mini as you can get (9 game) and in the 2nd letter (from Scott Tippins, Dir of Ticket Sales) it says:

With your mini season ticket package renewal we will be pleased to provide you with complimentary tickets for the 2004 NHL draft.

I would be very careful of moving down JeffO. The glass/net overlap can get a little distorted - especially when looking at the far goal. I'd move down really far or stay where you are, there's probably a few rows in there that would be poor vision lines imo.

I think we sat in H one time, and I felt like I was seeing 2 players (or a player chopped in half) when they were at the far end.

During warmups, move up and down the section and see how it affects your vision of the team warmups on the other end....

I second that. If you're thinking about moving definitely check out the view first. From various parts down low it is virtually impossible to see what is going down on the opposite end of the ice due to the warping of the glass.

I just hope that they'll be smart next year and replace the black squared netting with either the white triangle netting you see in Philly or the clear netting that I've heard is also available. In row T where we are, the netting isn't horrible, and you get used to it, except for the annoying bar at the top that splits the jumbotron into two.

I just hope that they'll be smart next year and replace the black squared netting with either the white triangle netting you see in Philly or the clear netting that I've heard is also available. In row T where we are, the netting isn't horrible, and you get used to it, except for the annoying bar at the top that splits the jumbotron into two.

Thanks my friends for the advice...

When I first sit down, I notice the nets...but by the time pre-skate is over..I don't even know it is there...I remember when we were choosing our seats last year..that is what the usher warned us about..sitting where the net and glass meet...

We will check out the different views at the next game...so if you see someone hopping around from seat to seat in Section 113..it will be me! :spin:

As you know, Miss O, I sit down in 117 row c. It took me a little while to get used to the glass distortion, but now it is not a problem. It is a little hard to see the left corner, but the jumbo tron is there, so I can always look up and see what's going on. I don't know how it would be from section 113 though. I'm guessing you would have a good view of the whole rink.

Yes Ms. W ;) ....113 offers a great view of the entire ice....we will probably stay there but might change rows... I would like to sit on Row C just once to see the "smooshed up faces" on the glass!! :D

The nets don't bother me a bit, but they definitely need to go higher as that black bar at the top is very annoying!! It goes in front of the far goal for some people in the 3rd level.

That's where i usually end up as well. I haven't had bad seats yet, aside from the game where i was positioned just right so that there was a railing in my way. Needless to say i moved.

yeah, there are some spots on the 3rd, mostly near front of the section, near the aisle, where you have stair railing & glass right in front of you. it sucks.

which is initially why we went to a package instead of buying single tix whenever we wanted to go... so we didn't get stuck in one of those seats.

now we sit on the 3rd, directly behind the net... and I Love it. great seats

Jeff O, where in 113 do you sit? We sit in row C, we split with another guy who has the season. I love those seats, they're $30 less than row B but just as nice a view! I was just curious if i'd seen you around. We're down by where Stormy's always messing with people.

I sit in 111, usually row D, but occasionally row C and I have net/glass overlap in row D looking at the Jumbotron. I don't think I'd like watching the whole game through that combo. I forget about the net most of the game until I want to see a replay clearly!

The second letter also mentioned that deposits are due in June. The deposits this year will be $200 per seat (this is true for mini-plans as well). I know last year it was $50 per seat. Just thought I'd let everyone know to start saving!

At least this year with the short season, we have longer to pay for tickets next year. I think you can spread payments out over 8 months.
