Last night, people were telling me that we are going to have a hard time re-signing a lot of the players that we have. Names like Gerber, Williams, Cole, Cullen, and Staal.

It's the policy of the club to (for the most part) not resign anyone until the season is over. I believe coach's contract is even up, but do you really think he's going anywhere? All of the guys you named have been vital for this team this year. I would hope JR wouldn't let any of them go without one helluva fight. ;) I wouldn't worry about any of them right now. As the summer continues we'll see a lot of action on CH.com

All but Cullen and Gerber that you mentioned are RFAs ... we'd get four first-round picks if someone outbid us for them. Of course, it's a possibility we'd find we can't afford them all and then trade them to a team that wants them at a lower price than four firsts.

All but Cullen and Gerber that you mentioned are RFAs ... we'd get four first-round picks if someone outbid us for them. Of course, it's a possibility we'd find we can't afford them all and then trade them to a team that wants them at a lower price than four firsts.

My policy is not to discuss the off season transactions until it's the off season - and hopefully that'll be a long time. ;)

I guess Cullen is a UFA under the new CBA huh? And he wouldn't have been under the old? I'm rusty.

My policy too- cause the season is still on last time I checked-

E- Yeah, Cullen is 30 this year, so and the UFA age was lowered to 28 in this CBA if I recall and then it goes down to 26 or 27 in subsequent years.

crog- Staal, Williams and Cole are not UFA's we own their rights and heck Staal's entry level contract is just expiring after this season he won't be going anywhere. But again, the season is still on.
