I saw it last night with friends and It is the funniest movie in the world. I could not stop laughing...I mean I almost got sick from laughing so much. However, it isn't all funny. It teaches you some valuable life lessons and really makes you think how you are to other people. It really made me realize how selfish some people can be and myself to. It is really well done and the soundtrack features one of my favorite songs. "You're A God" by Vertical Horizon. I want everyone to see it. You will be left thinking about the movie hours and hours after you see it. I am going to go see it again...I love that movie!

B-E-A-Eutiful. Great movie...a fun, forgettable little comedy but it does have its moments. And you know you've seen a good movie when it entertains as well as 'teaches a lesson.'

Yes, but remember it is a comedy and fantasy-the Sabres are not winning the Stanley Cup anytime in the near future (as in the movie). Now if the movie were set in the Raleigh area.............

Hehe, i really loved the Sabres references, the way the newscaster said "And the Sabres lost AGAIN tonight, THIS TIME to the Toronto Maple Leafs". And then the "What do you think about the game tonight Bruce? Well, I'd say the Sabres will win, the coach is a praying man".

I enjoyed the movie, though the previews as with all comedies ruined a few of the jokes. But all in all, an entertaining movie with several laugh out loud moments and not too many clunkers.

Good movie.

Nice escape type movie - you need a silly one every now and again. Best bit hands down was the part with Steve Carell being controlled by Bruce during a newscast.

Okay, give me the scoop on the age-appropriate nature of the movie. My kids want to go.

ohhhh 10 and up?? It isn't that bad. Mild (very Mild) language...and that's it. It's not bad! You might have to bring a sock though so you can make them stop laughing if they get too loud

I'd say 10 and up is probably appropriate...there is very mild language and a boob joke here or there...but otherwise it isn't too bad.

Cool. I really had no idea about its content. They can handle the boob jokes. My little one was watching The Amazing Race and got quite the kick out of a comment about "fake t*ts". I guess he'd never heard it before. He kept muttering "fake t*ts" and laughing. We had to include that in the list of "don't say that at school".

Ok, don't get offended by me saying this, but I just wanted to put my 2 cents in for anyone who is interested in a Christian's point of view. BTW, if anyone sees the movie, it doesn't mean they aren't Christian...so don't get offended if you are and you still go see it. :)
I personally won't go see that movie because it seems to make fun of Christianity and God. I guess some people think i'm a prude because of it, but it does hit a soft spot with me as far as making light of God and His divinity.
i just thought i would post this to give people another point of view. :)

That's exactly what I thought at first, IrbeGirl... I just cringed.... but then I saw Jim Carrey, and I realized that it's just another one of his comedies...

btw, best "God movie" is "Oh God" with John Denver... THAT was a cool movie, lol!

If you saw it, you'd think it portrayed God pretty well.

I don't think you can comment on how it does whatever without seeing it.

My 2 cents. Not trying to offend.

If you ask me, the overall message of the movie is very Christian: You are not perfect and you can't be God even if you think you already are. Things will always turn out well because God will provide.
Depending on how you look at it, this can have a very good message for Christians...the last thing it does is poke fun at Christianity...if you're worried about this don't be...in all reality the message is a very good one.

Well it's just that whenever you try and portray God in a comedy, you might strike a nerve with someone who may have or may have not seen it... It's bound to make some people uneasy, just the idea of it.

But yeah, I see what you're saying, and after hearing about the plot, I would agree that it is not negatively representing God at all.

In all fairness, i haven't seen the movie, i'm just going by what the previews showed. Anyway, like i said, just thought someone would be interested in reading a different point of view. :)

I promise you it is anything but that. In no way do they insult god and the movie definitely has good intentions in terms of the message it conveys. Perhaps, dare I say, it is a bit heartwarming as well. I certainly didn't get the feeling that it in any way was intended to make fun of Christianity.

Carrey's character basically makes the comment that he could fix all the problems in the world quickly if he was god and that there's no way it could be hard. God, which is Morgan Freeman's character, gives him that opportunity which Carrey's character instantly jumps on with a "how hard can it be?" mentality. God does this though to prove his point. That being that it's much harder to be god than Carrey's character realizes. Everyone is constantly praying and it is very hard to be god in Buffalo, let alone in the entire universe. This ultimately helps Carrey who has a newfound respect and faith for god who at the beginning he hated, a loving wife that this whole experience has taught him not to take for granted because she loves him as a person, and I believe leaves a good message to the audience.

I saw this movie and I'm not Christian, I'm Jewish. My feelings about god will remain my own for the purpose of this post. This is in no way an attack against anyone on this board, specifically Irbegirl, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the current topic that is being brought up about Bruce Almighty.
