I guess this is of good as a place to put it. My previous statements were uncalled for and I apoligize. Batesb I know you are mad but I was only poking fun b/w the fanbases like this thread b/w the Devs and Flyers fans:

Also I apoligize to Mean Gene. I have been a fan of yours since you started dancing at NC State games. You are the man and I loved the dancing at the game on Sat. Guyute I know we don't quite see eye to eye since your 2 teams both hate the Devils but I also apoligize to you as well. I hope y'all accept my apology and if not I don't blame you. If I have missed you I apologize and my comment about you was probably because I was mad I got booted. GO DEVILS!!! I WANT A GOOD SERIES! :D

Well, I accept the apology, but a better apology would have been someone over on that site saying something like, "Hey, this stuff about mean gene and his race isn't appropriate." That's how you show your love for Mean Gene and many other members of this site. Not by joining in the snickering.

You didn't ride the line, for me you crossed it in a way that infuriates me. You threw people who treated you like a friend under the bus, so to speak - for a questionable laugh no less - and that's disgusting. I can usually see the upside in everything, and forgive and overlook a lot - but disloyalty and personal attacks aren't in those categories.
You don't have to root for the Canes, but basic human civility shouldn't discriminate between fan bases. I've never seen a more civil board than this, or a stronger board community, and it's a reflection of the decency of the mods here that they are willing to give you a second chance.
You participated and accepted the mocking of some horrific incidents, people on this board that I happen to like very much, and the Canes players personally.
Three strikes and you're out in my book. Wish you all the luck in the world in not showing your true colors again here.

I personally would have rather seen the apology and retort at the end of the God-awful thread that had all that racist nastiness and Name calling and Jokes about fat people that got too personal. Unfortunately the jokes you tell sometimes show your true philosophy on things. You can apologize all you want, and people like me will be willing to accept it. But the respect has gone out the window unfortunately. Now every post on this forum will be tainted with, "That's a good opinion, but he's the one who was totally racist and insensitive to someone who didn't deserve it." There are lots of employers and business people and Raleigh Movers and Shakers on this forum and .that's stuff you just don't want to get out there if you want any serious bids at jobs, schooling, power, etc. It's that Karma thing. Sometimes it bites you in the behind. Mike is dealing with losing some of his kids to drunk driving, and wmangum felt it was the perfect time to make fun of his appearance. He has to live with that from now on, forever preserved on the electronic forum

Some have grown up elsewhere and pull for that team, for example, a pittsburgh native still pulls for the pens, yet also has love for the team in NC...myself, dated a Flyers fan and was introduced that way, I like the Flyers, I pull for the Flyers, they were the first hockey team I found myself pulling for (until I was taken to a live Canes hockey game) however, I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER go onto the flyers boards and start calling people here names that you did, and post the stuff that you did.
It was childish, it was immature...there was no need for that, talk trash about teams, sure, but not about the people...the internet is funny, people are always lurking somewhere...you were caught.

This is the reason why he got the benefit of the doubt and none of the others have or will.
I love this place because of the way it is. I and our mods try to do our best to keep this place civil and a place that we can be proud to have been a part of.
I can certainly understand if many people don't want to give this guy any benefit of the doubt and I'm not asking you to.
So we'll keep an eye on the situation.

edit:I searched and did not find the exact post, but saw some other things, so I think that I know where things headed.
I saw a story yesterday on Inside Edition where a 6 year old girl will spend her life in a wheelchair becasue of a stray bullet that severed her spine. She siad that she forgave him in open court and her mother hugged the gunman in court and forgave him.
I can forgive too, but I think people show their true colors when they think nobody else will find out about it.
It is best you don't know anything about it MG... just know that people had your back and it won't happen again (Mods took care of that)! ;)

I am ashamed of how much thought and anger i put into this subject over the past couple of days. When i visited one of the boards in question and read the kinds of things I did, I thought my head would explode. you know, hockey is such a joy to me, and i don't expect real world ugliness to creep in when i'm least expecting it. Rivalries are great, and smack talk is fun, but what has been posted some places and responded to by the starter of this thread is neither. That kind of crap HURTS people. I'm glad to know it , though. I'd rather a person show me their true colors upfront. Sometimes idiots see my blonde hair and hear my southern accent and think it's safe to show their racist asses. It does make it easier for me, though, because i know who to trust, or really, who NOT to trust. I have a feeling those posters wouldn't have dreamed of saying those things to the flesh and blood MeanGene. In fact, they would probably be all smiles, maybe even compliment his dancing. :mad: Dude, the best apology you can come up with is you enjoy his freakin dancing? No, thats not the least bit offensive.
I just have to comfort myself with the belief that what you put out into the world is what you will get back.
