Just writing to say good series. I felt we had the better team before the series started but you guys outplayed us and showed true grit. I still believe Brodeur is better than Ward. Ward has much to do to achieve Brodeur's status but short and to the point? we were beaten.

Best of luck to you guys next round. I say whoever wins that series is winning the Cup.

See ya next year. I think we can offically say this is a rivalry now between the 2 teams. 3 playoffs meetings in 5 years.

Give em hell!

Thanks a lot for the kind words. No doubt, Cam isn't a Brodeur, but he certainly proved himself and will probably be on the same level as his career progresses. The Devils put up a good fight, and I think everyone (well, I hope so anyways...) found it to be one helluva series. Can't ask for much more than that.

Good luck to you guys next year as well. Let the rivalry begin! ;)

Yeah, kinda hard for our 22 year old rookie Cam Ward to have the status of a 34 year old, 12 year NHL vet. But don't worry, it'll come. :D

Thanks for the nice words!!

Outside of the recent situation, I love the Devils myself. You know they're perennial contenders so they'll be back next year. The biggest casualty for me this series was an almost total loss of respect for Brodeur. But, I gained a lot of respect for guys like Gomez and Elias. I like a player who can give credit where credit is due.

me too. I still respect brodeur's play and will rank him well up towards the top of the all time greats list... but as a player he slipped down in my book.

Very classy post. Most of the Devils' fans I've met have also been very classy, and had good things to say about the Hurricanes, and about Raleigh on their trips down here. I do think there is a budding rivalry here, one thats built upon mutual respect between the two sides. My hope for the Canes is that we have the same long-term and sustained success that NJ has had, including winning championships.

Good luck next season.

One game at a time.....GO CANES!!! :D

Devils13 I think the better team won. We played hard and took it seriously. I think your team thought we would be pushovers. Found out differently huh?

I don't recall ever saying the devils thought you guys would be pushovers. The numbers and experience prior to the series pointed to the devils. But like I said last night. We were outplayed and you guys earned it. Only thing I found out is that the devils need some defense during the offseason..lol

Give em hell!

Awesome to see that attitude.

After the Habs series I saw some of the Habs posts pulling against the Canes which I thought was odd.

After all, what could be a better situation than to have the team that BEAT you win the Cup in the loser's defense.

As for the rivalry, it is definitely true. Let's be honest. The history of the Canes (excluding the Whalers legacy) is short in the hockey world, and the Devils have played crucial roles with each step into the playoffs for Carolina.

I would say that the Devils need to add a couple scoring type forwards, 13 - they certainly have a good defense for the most part.

I wonder if Mogilny will be able to return to form at all? If Selanne can resurrect...

nah. His hip is pretty much a factor these days. He may accept a buy out so he can pursue a one year deal somewhere else because he knows he won't be playing in NJ next year. As for our cap bust McGillis. He plans on sitting and collecting in the AHL. So we have to work with the cap issue. We mainly need a puck moving defenseman for our PP. Our PP killed us this year. Its becoming very eveident that in the new NHL where you get more chances on the PP, You need a solid one to contend.
