My brother is the new band director at a high school and is trying to develop a marching band show with a "night" theme. Anybody have any ideas of songs that fit this theme? He's looking for popular songs that the kids might recognize.
Thanks guys! :spin:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Date with the Night"

That would probably be a bad choice, but I'd LOVE to hear a full arrangement of it. I'll think of a slew of good ones when I can sit down with my catalog.

At the moment, the only songs with 'night' in them that I can think of are Goodnight Goodnight by Hot Hot Heat, and Goodnight and Go by Imogen Heap. lol. not much help there; seriously though if I come across something else I'll be sure to post it.

Nighttrain by Guns 'n' Roses.. ;)
There's also, Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins
Night Moves by Bob Seger... don't know how appropriate that would be...
Lonely is the Night by Billy Squier?
You could always Google it?

I suppose Strangers in the Night is out  A Hard Day's night is probably too old too. The fact that Whitesnake "Still of the night" is even too old is upsetting :p There is This is the Night by Clay Aiken but I wouldn't be the type to endorse that ;)

Well, since they play it at games all the time "In the Air Tonight"--the percusionists would enjoy it, although the rest is too slow.
Also from games (although not recently) "Saturday Night's alright for fighting"

I thought of that one too. Saturday Night Fever had some good songs for that theme.. if they still have sheet music that old.

I tried to google it and that was just too much work. :p I also heard a song on an "oldies" station, something about Mr. Saturday Night. I realize though that these kids are younger than me so perhaps the songs I know they don't. Ah...I'm getting old.

"Tonight, Tonight, Tonight", by Genesis.
"Night Moves" by Bob Seger (probably too old, though).
