Anything by Van Halen (versions 1 and 2), but not the version with the old lead singer from Xtreme in it.

Gary Cherone is talented, but he was just not a Van Halen lead singer type of guy...I always liked Sammy best! ;)

Well...much to Caniac's dismay, anything from the 80's, because I have fond memories of watching certain music videos on MTV and/or hearing certain songs on the radio when I was a wee one. ;)
Also, the Doors' "Riders On the Storm" often strikes a nostalgic chord in me because of how WRDU 106 used to play that whenever there was a thunderstorm when I was little. I have fond memories of hearing that song when the power was out, and the den/family room in my old house was candlelit..."Riders" really capped off the atmosphere being generated there.

You know, I feel the same way about both guys. As time passes, I can't help but think that DLR is just getting sadder and sadder.

A David Lee Roth Van Halen fan right here...despite his solo stuff IMO never having been the greatest, except for a couple of songs. Van Hagar had a few good songs, but they just weren't as good and cool as Van Lee Roth. And let's not even get into Cherone...that's where Van Halen totally fell apart IMO. I think Cherone's not a bad singer, just not suited for Van Halen.
In relation to the subject of this thread, Van Halen's "Jump" is one of the very first videos and songs I remember seeing on MTV and hearing on the radio. An interesting fact about the said video: it only cost Van Halen $500-600 to make it. Pretty cool, and really not surprising as simple a video as it is.

Pink Floyd, Fearless (on Meddle). I don't even need to close my eyes to remember the Exact setting the first time I heard that tune. Still one of my faves. Stellar song.
Everytime I hear "Take on Me" by A-Ha, it reminds me of laying in front of the tv watching NightFlite or MTV videos while my older sister did my hair and put blue mascara on me and explained why Madonna was a trashy person and why DuranDuran was the best. She has a lot to do with me being RIO and my fashion tastes now. I remember life feeling like it still had some untainted magic to it and when I hear that song, it reminds me of that island of light moment when everything seemed possible. I never much acted like a kid. This was sort of like Sis teaching me survival skills, you know?
Of course, owning white leather boots of all descriptions has little to do with survival, right? *laughs*

Excellent song indeed...easily one of most fave early era (Before Dark Side of the Moon) Pink Floyd songs. Everything from that guitar to David Gilmour's gentle vocals to the roars and chants of a crowd at a football/soccer game at the beginning and end blend together perfectly.

"Take On Me" is not only a great song too, but also one of the BEST videos ever done IMO. The idea of a character in a comic book falling in love with the woman reading the comic is too cool and creative...not to mention how the animation in and overall execution of the video is splendid. If any of you ever see the video to A-Ha's other hit, "The Sun Always Shines On TV" (Something like that...), you'll see a cool and interesting reference to the "Take On Me" video at the very beginning.
