Well, I know we all have them. Mine are becoming exhausting, but hey - if the team can take care of on the ice, I can certainly take care of my business off the ice...
But I'm curious - what are everyone's routines that can't be broken now?

I ahve a t-shirt that I wear under my Jersey, not going to say what it is, it is kind of an inside joke, but I do not wash it between wins. I wash the bad luck out of it if we lose, and then put it back on for the next game, same thing with a pair of shorts. Also I don't say the C** word. Had a lady in 118 who had a C** ring from the Lighting in 2004, she was the PR manager, asked if I wanted to hold it and I tunred away like it was toxic waste. No thanks, I will just look. I have never had my picture taken with the C** , and I have had some chances, and I will not until it is home safe here in NC.
Not really to much, but my friends think I am weird. O and the beard, have to have the beard :)

Hmmm...
I'll just start in order.
In my car, I have 2 CD visors that hold all the important Canes music. I listen to those, either taking a drive just to drive, or on the way to and from work.
But they MUST be listened to. THEN- I must eat some form of ice cream before the game, even before any pre-game shows if that applies. *sherbet most preferred  * No specific dinner foods really, BUT no opposing team-related foods! My family ate Buffalo wings during the Buffalo series. I refused them, they called me a nut, but the Canes won.
Before game, if I have enough time, I have red, black, grey and white candles that I usually burn with the music but if I DON'T have the time, then I just take my beads from the car (same colors) and strong each around my neck, in order from minor colors to major colors. (silver>white>black>red).
Still before puck drop, I must have on all Canes colored necklaces, my Canes symbol necklace, all my pins (about 15), my Canes earrings, Canes hair ribbons, color-coordinated eye makeup, Brind'Amour jersey with black practice jersey tied around my waist, and khakis or black pants. Sunglasses must not be worn on the head, as they've brought me bad luck.
As of puck drop, all bets are off. Except! The family must not talk, and if they do, there must not be any negativity about the Canes, and NO posititvity about the other team. The channel must not be changed at any time, and the phone is not to be picked up (at least by me) at any time. :D but I must have fulfilled all the superstitions.
I bet there's a few more minor ones I didn't fill in...I'll have to add them in. Wow...I had more than I thought! w00t! :smoke:

I won't get within arm's reach of the Cxp, because the 'Canes haven't yet won me the right to touch it.
I also refer to shutouts as "Scottish plays", because no way in Hel am I going to jinx it.
I've got a bunch of others, but I don't want to reveal them right now. ;)

Ah yes! Canes or other sports-related shirt under the jersey (usually matching team colors of the jersey)...and the usual "jersey must be washed only after a loss and between series" rule I've always had.
Knew I'd have to post another LOL :spin:

I don't really have any - other than being a card carrying member of the lucky undies gang.
The first night I took the lucky undies into a game, I also had a bottle cap from my beer. I took the same bottle cap to the next game (because I'd removed it and the lucky undies out of the pants before I washed them). Now I just have a habit of putting a new bottle cap in my pocket while I tailgate and then take it in. Stupid, but it's something.

I watch the game down in our game room and sit in hubby's recliner. It's pretty chilly down there so I have my 'lucky blankey' in Canes colors. I have some sort of beverage but NEVER Snapple (we lost 1 & 2 vs. Montreal drinking those so I laid off for the rest of that series and we all know what happened!!). I also have been wearing my very first Canes shirt (worn to 1st home game @ ESA/RBC in 1999). Don't wash between wins and don't wear except during games; wash after loses to, as previously mentioned, wash out the bad luck.
Oh- and who could forget my piece of the lucky undies!! :)

OMG! I thought he was screwing around the first time he spoke!! Didn't realize it was for real until after the game, lmao. Yes, DO bring him back! :D
I wear the same clothes. Red undies, pink (sorry) bra, grey skirt, grey socks with red ladybugs, red clogs, a white t-shirt, same black hair scrunchie, red Canes hat, and my Cullen jersey (damn, now someone will recognize me). And I keep my piece of the lucky undies in my bra. Last few home wins I've realized I had the same things in my pocket....strawberry lemonade chap stick and my cell phone. Now I have to keep those there. Mr SHC has an old game ticket (a friend's from Game 2 vs NJ) that he carries that is supposed to be lucky. We haven't lost since he started carrying it!

My tailgating group has a couple. First there's the "lucky shrimp" cocktail. Everyone who had previously partaken of the lucky shrimp must indulge before we head into the game. The other is I bring the Nutter Butter mojo. :D
As for me, my Buffalo series pin decided it didn't want to stay horizontal on my jersey and we won, so now the pin must remain vertical. It was flipping itself back and forth during the first 2 periods of game 1, but remained firmly vertical in period 3!

I always have to eat Subway on a game day....i was scared to get something other than my 6 inch turkey on wheat today..but having that EVERY game day for wins and we lose when i try to get something else, i was nervouse to get a chicken bacon ranch today..but luckily we won
I wear a canes shirt every game day and a non-canes shirt every other game day. I was flipping out today cause i thought all my shirts were dirty until i FINALLY found my got Staal? shirt.
then depending on if we are winning or losing if i can change pants haha. I keep all three of my Hurricanes bands on my right arm and my one livestrong on my left. I sprained my right wrist and had on a thing to keep it from moving and had to put the bands over my cast thing.
My bird Cullen is even coming into his own rituals which i find odd. I'll come in and say HEY CULLEN and he usually stays on his highest pirch beside his mirror, but when i come in and the game is on SOMEHOW he knows its the game and goes to the lower pirch by his door and sit there till the game is over and then go back to his mirror. Hey he is named after a hockey player after all

^ADORABLE about your bird! What kind is he?
We try to get our Conure, Paulie (the same one who repeats the Beep Beep of the commercial :D ) to say his "YEEEAAAAHh CANES!" before the game starts. He loves his hockey, he says yeah and yells with the goal horn and everything. He's more of a companion than my family during them sometimes. Each time we get him to say his phrase though, only good things happen. Birds, I'm convinced, are some of the most amazing creatures imaginable. When they talk? Even better! Especially when it helps tradition!

Our playoff superstitions are bordering on ridiculous. Our tailgate group is made up of the six of us--three generations of Caniacs ranging from ages 5 to 70. We can only eat Jersey Mike's or Jason's deli. Any attempt to eat something different has been punished by the hockey gods with losses. All 6 of us have very specific lucky shirts, pants, shoes, hats, etc. We daughter remains convinced that the reason we lost game 1 against Buffalo was because her dad "sabotaged" her lucky jeans (after all we weren't sure where his loyalties were) by leaving them in the washer on game day. We must listen to stupid "High School Musical" because the one day we didn't we lost.
Sadly the list of thigs we aren't allowed to do is more painful. I cannot fly my car flags. In a true test of devotion by the hockey gods, we may not drink beer at tailgates. Home losses for both Montreal games and the Buffalo game were the direct result of us violating this rule. Surely a few beers wouldn't be met with such harsh punishment. We are taking one for the team here and abstaining at home games. Thank goodness this rule does not apply to away games on TV! I may not wear makeup or my cool high heeled red boots. I must wear comfy (but unfashionable) red clogs.
The latest superstition is that we are now undefeated when I attend practice (not pre-game skates) and take pictures. So please humor my sub-par photography--I will not mess with mojo!
;)
(Ironically, I am not superstitious at all in my "non-hockey" life)

Superstitions I broke for game 2:
1. beer choice. usual store amazingly started carrying molson xxx. southpaw did not make it into the cart.
2. food choice. had one usual brat and of course the mushrooms, but then a very awesome venison sausage from a nearby tailgater.
3. venue. usually i watch from inside the arena (go figure!) but this time the first period i watched at the tent, then since that wasn't too much fun really we headed to a bar down the road for 2 and 3.
4. attire. usually i just wear my jersey, this time i was walking around in my jofa shoulderpads. when we headed to the bar, though, went back to the jersey.
kept the playoff beard going, though, so obviously that's the important bit.

One of the guys sitting a couple of rows behind me started doing that, and I had to restrain myself from turning around and yelling, "Shut UP! You're a JINX!" Granted, he was correct on the shutout part, but he was seriously annoying me all night with his constant yelling of "SHOOT!" even when the puck was in our own zone. Oy
With that said, my own superstitions (besides NOT yelling anything like the above!) include not wearing any sort of Canes shirt on game day/night (I wear a plain shirt underneath my jersey) and shaving my legs on gameday (we win on nights that I shave!). :D

I gave up superstitions per se, after years of toiling in them with my extremely susperstitious husband who claims he's not superstitious, :roll/
Anyway, I'm also a card carrying member of the Lucky Undies Club too, the swatch is with me everywhere.
While I've gone away from the whole nutty superstitious thing, I have held on to a couple, we park in the same spot every game and tailgate there- I 'require' myself to see the same individuals every single game (nccanes, the nccanes children and Mr., IceSaber, IceSaber's dad, and my Princess Kam; puck_it, two good friends who don't post here but are neighbors and great hockey fans) or the in arena experience is 'missing something'. I walk with Mr. Socal the same route on the concourse before going to our seats, and when we get to our section, I go to the ladies room before sitting in my seat, it's the same ladies room I have stopped in the last 5 seasons, and I go into the same stall 3 one in going in the left entrance.
On game day, I have an "email Mojo" crew, who include hyena, nccanes and a bunch of people, who I must communicate with during that day just for piece of mind. So you see, I've let go of all my superstitions.
Pitiful. Seriously Pitiful.

LOL, we have a "SHOOT" yeller who was yelling it EVERYTIME we were in their zone....even when the Oil still had the puck. She was a bit impaired, though.
I wish people would NOT do the "WE WANT THE CXP" chant. Terrifies me. Thank god it didn't catch on last night! I don't want to hear that until we're up 7-0 in win #4!! We can chant it while we're waiting for them to carry it out, lol.

I wish people would NOT do the "WE WANT THE CXP" chant. Terrifies me. Thank god it didn't catch on last night! I don't want to hear that until we're up 7-0 in win #4!! We can chant it while we're waiting for them to carry it out, lol.
I have a lucky red bra that I always wear and have been known to wear it on the outside of my clothes in "rally style". :D I have a lucky bag that has elephants on it with the trunk up (good luck) and we all rub the same elephant before games and during at home and away. I also have a pair of jeans that I wear often (they are washed each time  )and everytime I do we win. It is too hot for them now but a small price to pay eh? :spin:
oh and I hum or sing The Rising while getting ready for the game. Before Game 6 with Buffalo I didn't and we lost.
and lastly, I have a piece of someone's underwear in my elephant bag! ;)
We want the Cxp makes my skin crawl.

QFT. Especially in Game 2 against a team that came back from a 2 game deficit earlier in the postseason.
I have had a number of superstitions over the season, usually involving pins & my Tripp sticker, but over the course of the season I've forgotten to do one or more and we've still won, so those were abandoned. My only active superstition is that I have to get nachos in the second intermission. My jeans attest to the fact that this is one superstition I never forget. ;) Good thing they stretch.
Oh, and I can't post in the game thread until the game is over.

I really, really don't mind the "We want the C_p" cheer at all, and yes as Shell and Guyute maybe can tell from a couple rows down, I participate and sometimes even start cheering it. I don't mind it at all for the end of game 2, because to me it's a fan's way of saying: team don't worry about something idiotic like "winning It at home in game 5" just go out to Edmonton and bring It home.

Hmm...must wear my white Battaglia jersey (didn't wear it for the 2 Montreal losses, only 1 home loss since I started wearing it again); won't look at the Cxp, skip over the words 'Stxnlxy Cxp' in any article I read, won't let anyone say it around me, and I refuse to get excited until the deciding 4 games have been won.

I think "we want the Cup" is something that could be chanted by 30 groups of fans at every game ever played. There's no denying that's why they play the game. I don't chant it, but I am not a chanter especially during play. I just can't concentrate on chanting and watching the game, but then I'm way older than Glen Wesley ;)

I hate the We Want the CxP chant too- the dude who looks like Homer Simpson that sits behind us started that up and I nearly killed him last night.
Speaking of Bates- did anyone notice him on the J-Tron last night during the "Let's Go Canes" video that Ronnie's in? It appeared he was outside of his bar and kinda 'inviting' people in and he says "Let's go Canes" and I do believe they took Chuck Amato out of that video......so basically someone help me out- I could swear I saw that still baby faced dude up on the J-Tron!

Ok, well mine are the following:
1) Must listen to The Rising on iTunes exactly 7 times before gametime that day. Must be playing softly as I turn the game on.
2) Must watch 2 certain mojo videos on my camera phone. This has to happen before the start of every period and after EVERY goal scored for either team.
3) I have to cross my pointer and middle fingers on my right hand, and bounce my pinkie on my leg while counting to 11 - followed by let's go justin!. Then 17, 30(by 2's), 12, 18, 61 (by 2's), 8 and then 7. All followed by each players name. Again, this must happen before the start of every period and again after EVERY goal.
4) I must repeat the above to 30..let's go Cam after EVERY save. (this component started in the second period of Game 1 - I dare you to tell me it's not working when the only time it failed was when I ran to the bathroom and EDM tied it up??)
I have been giving weird looks, had heads shaked at me, been pointed at and generally people think I am muttering to myself like a crazy person. I might be, but WHATEVER IT TAKES!

Oh man, far too many superstitions for me to name! But here's a few:
1. Have to use 4 car flags on gamedays...it used to only be one flag from 2002 during gamedays and it could only be on the driver side. Trust me, it sooo worked, but now 4 flags is the way to go...2 new and 2 that are torn and faded from '02.
2. Have to listen to the same songs on my Ipod before the game...."The Rising", "Don't Stop Believin'", "In the Air Tonight"...and this one is weird, but that song from a couple of years ago, "Tipsy" by J-Kwon  Hey, it works!
3. Have to wear the lucky jeans to each game, with my '02 Battaglia shirt, my light jacket over that and then my jersey....the hot weather makes it hard to keep up with all the layers, but I started wearing the jacket back in December and there's no way I'm messing with the mojo now.
4. Have to take my mom's car---last time we took mine, we lost 0-9.
5. We all have to sit in the same sit...I'm in seat 1, my brother in 2, my mom in 3 and my dad in 4. During the 1st and 2nd games of the 1st round, we were in different seats....we switched it up and they started winning. The only game we've lost since we found out the lucky way to sit was when my dad and brother were at the beach and 2 of our friends took their seats.
6. And my newest---have to put a tattoo on my right cheek. We're 2-0 when I have one on! :D

My car flags don't come down, but they weren't up for a while because I thought they were bad luck. Turns out it's only bad luck when the 2002 EC Champions is on the passenger side.
My main superstition is that I have to enter in the left entrance on the east side, go up the near escalator, and put my game day card in the lower left corner of the window that's at eye level, just off the end of the escalator on the second level.

well, we always have 2 flags up (and the car painted "Honk if you are a caniac", and I always wear my K Adams jersey. We park in the same spot, party with the same people, walk in the same way, hit the escalator, bathroom, beer line, and get to our seats with 12 minutes until the puck drop. I thought mine were too, but they've been hanging up from the curtain rod since the beginning of the season and it seemed to be ok. I put them on the car before leaving for work on Monday morning and, well, they ain't coming down until Wally packs away the boys equipment for the summer... and they are taking turns throwing the big shiny thing in a pool or taking it golfing... ;)

Superstition or Habit (all the same to me) :spin: My car flag has flown the entire season, it's been accidentally released, I stopped and found it. Um.. it's my flag!! I would have cried.
* I did go through a time where I had to wear my hair down and we'd win, then it went bad, so I threw that one out the window.
*My husband and I do the same exact walk each game.. down for pre-skate, stand as close to glass as possible, watch the boys stretch, watch for Ray's interview appearance, watch Staaly skate around the boards, Williams crash into him, C Adams pass to K Adams for the last shot on goal, Commi stretch and skate on the blue line off the ice...We leave after Every player has left the ice, up the escalators around the corner (although there is a short cut) and to our seats. We always make it in time to watch the lights go down. Then we "Weight" for the puck to drop, and Pray Wilver gets it right.

I've had two superstitions for the playoffs:
1. I wear the same shirt all day on game days
2. For all Home games and any Away games that I watch at my mom's, I park my car on the street instead of in my mom's driveway.

yup. same grey t-shirt underneath red short-sleeve knit. Then the jersey goes over top if I'm going somewhere to watch.

Hmm... we are so bad we were in the N&O article along w/ Shawn!
1) During Montreal series, no Canadian beer was allowed. The rest of the series it has been okay.
2) Always park in the same spot
3) Always wear same outfit to home games... black polo, black bra, black underwear, lucky jeans, lucky sandals, red Canes jersey
4) Hubby and I are always in same seats. First 2 games vs Montreal he had the aisle... switched mid-game 2, Canes came back to tie, can't ever switch again
5) Can't wear Canes stuff except on non-game days, unless it is red jersey on home game mentioned above
6) caniac369 and I must call/voice mail after each win

Well, things are in place for today (yay I can say that now!)
I took Shell's suggestion and am wearing both jerseys, and I have them both up and hanging as I always do the night before, unwashed! :D
I have the lucky Phil Collins CD ready with the candles for pregame AND I have the lucky ice cream o'choice in the freezer. The rest I do when I go along but those things have to be set aside beforehand!
On a totally weird note: It's almost as if I have to work the day of a game! Sucks for me, but good for the Canes! If I wear the jerseys with my work khakis, we haven't lost yet! So I have to keep going with that, even if they've got old cake icing on them!

I am never happy after a loss. I don't know how all these people can be smiling on the news about having game 5 coming back. I know it's nice they are coming back, but there should be no joy in this loss. Being happy for this loss can make the hockey gods give us more losses if we're so happy about them. My superstition is to never be happy that a series is extended. SO EVERY ONE STOP!!! (Said tongue in cheek because I'm not really chiding anyone. I can be empathetic to those that only had game 5 tickets and the like or those that thought the canes deserved a proper sendoff. But don't ever wish that stuff out loud for the hg's to hear!!!!!
