Among the invitees are our own Cam Ward, but also, possible first round picks in the upcoming draft, Marc-André Fleury, Dion Phaneuf, Corey Locke, (my choice for our second overall pick) Eric Staal, and Nathan Horton.

Ward named WHL Player of the Week
Calgary - The Western Hockey League Player of the Week is goaltender Cam Ward of the Red Deer Rebels. Ward earned player of the week honours by recording three wins, including a shutout in three games. With three shutouts, he ties Scott Myers of the Prince George Cougars (2000) and Ed Humphreys of the Saskatoon Blades (1973) for the WHL Record for Most Shutouts by a Goaltender in One Season's Playoff. Ward recorded an impressive 0.67 goals against average and a 0.976 save percentage.
On Tuesday, April 15th, Ward recorded 25 saves in a 5-1 home win in Game 7 of the WHL Eastern Conference Semi-Finals to eliminated the Medicine Hat Tigers and advance to the Eastern Conference Championship.
On Friday, April 18th, Ward made 33 saves in a 5-1 home victory in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Championship versus the Brandon Wheat Kings.
On Saturday, April 19th, Ward turned aside all 29 shots he faced in a 2-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the series.
Games 3 and 4 will be played in Brandon on Tuesday, April 22nd and Wednesday, April 23rd. Game Time for both games is 7:00.
Ward, an 18-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta, was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 1st round, 25th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
