As a student at UNC Charlotte, I feel ashamed to know that I am a part of the city that will be home to the Bobcats.

I suppose the Charlotte Dragons or Flight would be even worse (the other two names in the running) but let's be honest.

Wouldn't we rather have no NBA basketball team at all than one with the name BOBCATS??!?!?!!??

Perhaps in keeping with the theme of the team's owner, Bob, the cheerleaders will be called the Bob Squad? And they could "bob" back and forth while a guy in a bobcat suit (A white shirt, tie, and dress pants????) waltzes around doing god knows what.

Of course anything is better than something with the scum of the earth, strawberry and diaper stealing, money laundering, printer paper burning, sadistic freak pig that is George Shinn at its' helm.

It'll be interesting to see how this all pans out.

I'm assuming it's done the same way as a new NHL team is. Through the expansion draft.... though I could be very, very wrong.

I wouldn't mind if it's done through the expansion draft like the NHL. Quoting the announcer when the Wild beat the Canucks and were moving on to face the Ducks for the Western Conference finals, "These are the guys that nobody wanted." And look where they ended up. It's not as bad as it seems.

Also, that isn't their official site, it was bought by someone back in January before they even came up with the name. They are currently trying to buy it from the guy.

Yep, I was just being sarcastic about the site. He turned down a thousand dollar offer recently saying he wanted far more than that. They should just use charlottebobcats.net or charlottebobcatsbasketball.com to show they won't deal with the guy. Smart move by him if it pans out though.
