If any of you happened to be at Crabtree Valley Mall this evening and saw a nut wearing Canes stuff and carrying a hockey stick, that was me. :D I went by The Eye out there, and they're selling used player sticks. The prices range from $25 (For sticks used by Westlund, McDonald, Knyazev, and unknown players...I got an unknown. I thought it would be fun to figure out who used it. :)), to $50 (Possibly Battaglia), to $75 (For sticks used by Malik and Kapanen), to $100 (For sticks used by Craig Adams and Malec.). There are probably a couple of other players I forgot. Also, at the Triangle Town Center location, they were selling sticks used by Hill and Hlavac a couple of weeks ago. They didn't have the price tags on those, so I don't know how much they were, but I would guess in the $50-100 neighborhood. Anyway, a great opportunity to own a cool piece of Canes memorabilia and a collectible, especially if you haven't managed to get a player's stick one way or another yet.

Depending on just how "unknown", my kids might be able to help you identify it. But then again, if they could - I presume someone from the Canes could so....nevermind. ;)

Well, here's something for you and your kids' minds and eyes to ponder Eileen...
The stick I purchased is solid black with white letters. The ends sport black tape, with the part that touches the puck showing a little wear and tear. The brand name is Sher-Wood, with the type being SOP 7000. The aspect that might make this tricky or ridiculously easy is the name tag...there's no number, but the name featured is Penn as in "Penn and Teller". Have fun... :)
Note: I think I just found out whose stick it may be. There's an equipment manager on the Lowell Lock Monsters named Josh Penn who used to play for the Florida Everblades for a couple of seasons. Easily makes the most sense...

I know Bates used a blue MISSION stick and O uses gray EASTON....
and Eileen, I am sure your boys would know who the stick belongs to...they are great!! ;)
I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble here... But if the "game-used" stick you buy is a wood stick, it was probably only used in practice and maybe not even then... it might be a back-up stick or something. Sher-wood is almost definitely a wood stick.
It seems as though most of the pros (although not all) use composite sticks like the gray (probably Synergy) Easton or the Mission.
Darn, I would buy one of those to actually use, because $50-75 is cheap for a $150+ stick...

Well Kat, notice I never said "game used", just "used". :) I figured the used sticks were from practices, especially since they're in considerable good shape.

I went by Crabtree today. I could have given you your posters. :D I really have not forgotten. (O.K. I forgot again :) ) You should have them by next season though! :D

I was at the Eye at Triangle Town Center today (lil late shopping for fathers day). They had about 6 sticks against the wall but I didn't look at what/how much they were. That is a terribly small eye.

Just sayin'.

As I've told you before MeanGene, I'm obviously in no hurry, just take your time...if you need any info, please PM me. :)

Yeah, tis not big, but they carry a nice selection of Canes goodies none-the-less. Though, I'll admit that the Crabtree location is somewhat putting the TTC one to shame with a television, (Which was showing the April 6th game against the Islanders while I was there Friday.) and more kinds of merchandise. (Most notably various shirts, a few different kinds of pucks, and of course, MUCH MORE player sticks...the Crabtree location had them just about everywhere in the store.)
An idea I've had for The Eye for sometime has been to put a television in each store, and show various games and Raising Canes on it...glad to see they've followed through with that in one location. Another idea I've had is to possibly have a greeter of sorts by the entrance outside at the mall locations to get people inside and tell of any ongoing sales and/or upcoming Canes related events. Who knows, such a thing could earn the Canes more fans and The Eye more customers...not to mention possibly cut down on any shoplifter problems the mall locations are/were having. (I remember a friend of mine working at The Eye telling me that they had shoplifting problems a couple/few months ago...the most notorious being people sneaking into the store and grabbing and smuggling a few pucks for Ronnie to sign when he was at a store's grand opening.) I know it's not yet hockey season, but the mall stores never seem to have been doing well, even when hockey season is/was on...then again, last season really did not help. Hopefully, that will certainly not be the case this upcoming season...

My first and only player stick I have, I got from Gary Roberts. It was teh first year that the Canes moved to Raleigh. They had a festival before the season, and player stick went up to about 10 dollars I believe. My Gary Roberts stick cost me $2.00 and it is autographed by Battaglia, Sanderson, Burke? and another person I can not remember or make out the autograph, but I believe it is #45.
Looking back, I should have gotten more sticks.

Wasn't Tanabe 45 before switching to 21 this year?
My kids have collected a couple of (very) broken sticks from Wally. They've got a Craig Adams and a shaft from Brind'Amour ( :eek2: ). The "best" stick they've rec'd was a barely cracked Wallin stick that they got from Wally after the warmup in Atlanta. Wallin puts that black tape lengthwise on the shaft and they think it's pretty cool (me too). My kids are convinced that Wallin got the idea from St. Jacques - they say he never did it before St. Jacques arrived.

He was but was he playing here when Burke and Sanderson were?

Wow...I'm jealous. :) Wally's pretty darn good to your kids, Eileen. That's too cool that they've gotten all of those sticks, especially the Brindy shaft. Not to mention how your kids are indeed sharp to notice how a player tapes their stick, my hat's off to them. :)
