I'm currently directing a play which opens on Sept. 15. I'm looking for some suggestions for "incidental music," and thought I'd throw it out there for you guys to ponder, since so many of you seem to know a lot about music.
What "incidental music" is, is music that will cover scene changes -- the transition from one scene to the next. Incidental music can also entertain the audience and set the mood for 5 to 10 minutes before the show begins.
I'm looking for acoustic jazz guitar. I know there's got to be some artists out there, but I just don't know their names. It's important to me that it be acoustic, and not electric guitar. NO singing - instrumentals only. It could be a combo, but guitar should be the most heavily featured instrument.
I'm looking for almost just noodling around kind of stuff -- soulful... but... some moments call for brighter stuff. It doesn't all have to be slow and serious.
I've listened to samples of so many things the last few nights, but I still haven't found anything quite right.
Got any suggestions? I'd love some new ideas! :D
