I understand why they need to do this, to make people feel safer, and I'm hoping it won't be too much of a hassle..... It took me about a half hour to get into the arena at the NHL All Star game in Florida with the security checks and the arena was only about 3/4 full. I don't think they do such an extensive check at normal games there though, I'm assuming the heightened security was especially for the All-Star game. Hopefully it won't take anywhere near 30 minutes to get inside the building!

I expect the heightened security measures will be no worst than Walt Disney World last year. Basically all they did then was similar to what they do now at the RBC and other such places. If anything, except for more extensive searches of larger bags and items, I don't expect much to change from what the RBC's been doing this season.

I suspect something will change otherwise why issue the notice? To my knowledge, they don't normally have electronic metal detectors, etc. around - or I've never seen them used.
I sometimes bring a purse, which is really a very small Jansport backpack. I've noticed the glance in has become more formality than it used to be (although they did check it at practice on Tuesday). I suspect that will change.

I definitely understand and support the decision. I was shocked and not comfortable when I went through very, very little security at Madison Square Garden on New Year's eve.
On the other hand, I hope it doesn't take as long as it did for the playoffs. By the end, I had to bring 2 beers for the wait in line ;)

they did metal detectors last year, during the playoffs. can't remember if it was just for the SCF's, or other rounds as well.
it was heinous. lines were terrible. but, it was interesting seeing snipers on the roof.

Looks like I'll need that Doctor's note for the rod in my leg for more than my trip to Oregon next week!
