Isn't Bates a free agent this summer (restricted, I think)? Anyone heard about the Avs and his contract? You never know, people come and go so quickly in this sport...so maybe he'll be back or at least in the same time zone again! Ok, so maybe I should wait until a little later in the summer to commit to that #44 jersey! They wanted him out in Colorado though, so hopefully it will work out. I never got to talk to him, but I litterally RAN into him at the Reczone once (off skates, luckily!!). :eek2: I was so suprised that I think I managed to smile and then darted off! Damn! I missed a good chance! :sad: I did get to see the smile though. :D Maybe if I'm lucky, Colorado will be on the schedule this year, although I'm not sure!

Bates is infectious. That's my basic feeling about him. I always thought he was cute but he was never one of my favorites looks-wise.....until I finally saw him in person. He is not only absolutely beautiful but, like Mona said, he glows with something. He just exudes happiness and goodness. I sure hope I haven't laid eyes on him in person for the last time. It'll be a nasty little hole to try and fill during next year's practices even for me....I can't imagine how Alicia feels. :cry:

I told you he was one of my first faves, before we starting buying a ticket plan etc. - just going to games here and there. I loved his offbeat stuff and the glimpses into his personality from the ask the canes stuff and because he hates to fly (like me). I've gotten over my infatuation stage, :laugh:, but how could you pass up taking a photo like that when he shows up rumpled and buzzin'? And once you have the photo, ya gotta share it.

Not to stir up any sore subjects, but cut Paul a little slack. Sure, the Ducks fans are going to be disappointed to see him go. He did take a huge pay cut though and there's lots of guesses why, but only he knows for sure. Maybe I'm really naive, but the guy gets to pair up with his best buddy again. If it works out, next season should be something to see. I just hope he stays away from that big monster Scott Stevens. Come on girls, no matter what you think about the signing with the Avs, admit it...you won't forget the little guy getting bulldozed in the playoffs and then coming back to score. The new first line is supposed to be Kariya, Selanne, and Sakic. That leaves Forsberg, Tanguay, and Hejduk (I think) on the second line. I wonder if they will be signing #44...

LOL Mona. It was such a fun movie. I know there are "fun summer movies" that aren't supposed to be "really good" movies, but this one was really fun and well done. It made me smile a lot (Depp and Bloom helped). Great action scenes and some very cool special effects and I enjoyed the score as well.

I've seen two movies there recently and really enoyed the theater. I've only been during the day on weekdays when the place was deserted though.

Kat, do you know what eating establishments are open at Brier Creek? We opted for Raleigh Grande last night, just because it's a smidge closer to our house and we knew we could walk over to that pizza place after buying the tickets. I just couldn't remember what was open (other than the Bob Evans) for eating.

Brier Creek has Applebee's, an Asian place (that has pretty good Chinese), and some smoothie place. I think that Chili's and something called Brooklyn Sal's pizza are opening soon, and they are putting in an O'Charley's and something else that has yet to have a sign. The huge Target next door to the theater is opening on July 27th. We are in that complex all the time because it has the closest grocery store to us (Winn-Dixie), and BJ's has cheap gas. :)

Orland Bloom also had a small part in Black Hawk Down as a GI. Not my favorite look, but he still looked quite yummy. With regards to Brier Creek, the Chili's should be open in the next 1-2 weeks (lots of cars there last night so they must have been training staff). Another cool thing about the Brier Creek Theatres....they have a self-service kiosk where you get your own tickets without having to stand in the main line. Very quick!
