Anyone else hear Adam Gold on 850 say we were trying to trade Aaron Ward?? I turned it on right as he said it so not sure what I missed. He said Aaron was too slow and not physical enough. How many d-men are we in the market for I wonder?

Not physical enough? http://www.websmileys.de/conf06.gif
I admit, it's been a while since the season was over and my memory is not like it used to be but I seem to remember Ward being pretty physical.

damn, wish I woulda had my radio on.
if we get rid of Ward, it better be for someone like Derian Hatcher.

Adam said that he would be surprised if Ward started the season with the canes and if he did, he wouldn't be here long. He kind of eluded to the fact that we were trying to trade him.

I hope we don't trade Aaron...I like him and his style of play....

I like Ward a lot too.
and really... unless Adam got this gem of insight from someone like... oh, I dunno... say... Chuck... I wouldn't take it seriously at all.
Adam knows how to pimp local businesses... but not a hell of a lot else. Sure, he may know some hoops (er, check that... he knows the Hoop Doc, who knows hoops)... but hockey? naaah.

I like him too, and his style of play, I just wish he would spell his name CORRECTLY!
Anyone else heard that talks with Wesley have broken down? It is being reported on The Score that he wants a long term deal, and JR has presented only a one-year deal.

Yes. Check the "Canes offer Wesley..." thread. I still hope it works out, but obviously JR has to move on.

according to a blurb on the noon news, Wesley rejected the offer of a one year deal.
I have heard rumblings of trading Ward almost since he got here. I like his style of play, but again they failed to ask my opinion. You think they'd learn ;) :D

You think they would talking...WE are the ones that pay the bills...they should ask us!! ;)
I wonder if Wesley would come here for a 2-year?? Didn't he ask the Leafs' for 3?? JR is probably not very patient these days...trying to get an answer from Markov and wheeling and dealing with everyone else..if he (Wes) wants to come back, he better think about it and quick..if it not already too late!!

I'm like TC.....ever since he got here there has been a rumor we were gonna trade Ward. He may just trade his damn self soon if we don't watch that. I've never understood why they want to dump him. He was the ONLY guy playing willing to make a hit for a good bit of last season. (well....other than Craig Adams)

Yeah and Ward managed to stay on his skates after the hit too.
Oops, did I just say that out loud? ;)

Wardo was a good, solid d-man for us last year no matter what anyone thinks...but if we have to include him in a trade to get a better d-man or fill our hole at LW then we need to do it.
But I don't want to see Ward gone for some Joe-Blow just because he had an off year like everyone else.

JR just mentioned he had a trade about to go through but fell through at the last second....I wonder if Ward was involved?

You made me LOL literally Eileen........I love Craig but he does fall down a lot....I told Paige...your boy works hard and really tries, but sometimes he can't stand up for nothing! :D ;)

IMHO it would be a mistake to trade Wardo. We need a veteran d-man as a #4 or 5 guy. If we are to sign Markov, that might make Wardo expendable but until them a trade would not be smart in my book. I see the pairings on d as this Hedican and Hill, Ward and St Jacques, and Wallin and Malec. If by chance we signed Markov and kept Ward, then move Ward to third pairing and send Malec down to Lowell for a little more seasoning. But this is all sheer speculation by me at this point.

To me, Ward is the most physical player on the team. He got a few penalties, but he caused a lot too. He will provoke someone just enough to aggrivate them, and then they will go after Ward and get a penalty. It would be a mistake to trade Ward.

atleast we all agree on WARDO. Not physical?? He is most physical guy
on the team!! I love Ward and hope they don't trade him. I think he is
a great mentor for Bruno.

I definitely agree with all of the above.. the first word that comes to my mind when I think of Ward is 'intense'.. be it at practice or games. People tend not to notice him but that's because he isn't screwing up ;) I don't want him going anywhere!
